Asenovgrad ya da önceden Stanimaka (Bulgarca: Асеновград, Türkçe: İstanimaka, Vodene-i Balâ veya Vodene-i Zir), Bulgaristan'ın güneyinde, Filibe ilinde bulunan bir şehirdir. Filibe şehrine yakındır.
Asenovgrad, MÖ 300-400 yıllarında Traklar tarafından Stenimahos adıyla kurulmuştur. MÖ 72 civrında şehir Roma İmparatorluğu'nun Karadeniz'e akınları sonucunda Roma toprağı olmuştur. Uzun süren barış ortamı, 251'de Gothların saldırıp şehri harab etmeleri ile bozulmuş, ancak şehir tekrar inşa edilmiştir. 395'te Roma ikiye bölününce, Asenovgrad Bizans tarafında kalmıştır. 700'lerde, Slavların göçleriyle nüfus artmış ve şehir bir slav şehrine dönüşmüştür.
Bulgaristan ile Bizans arasındaki savaşta şehir, Bulgarların güçlü bir askeri dayanağı olmuştur. Latin İmparatorluğu ile gerilen ilişkiler üzerine, Bulgar Çarı II. İvan Asen şehrin yakınlarındaki Stanimaha Kalesi'ni güçlendirmiştir. Bu sebeple şehrin adı, 1934'te "Asen'in şehri" demek olan Asenovgrad yapılmıştır.Bundan önce ismi Stanimaka idi.Osmanlı egemenliği zamanında bu şehir Kanuni Sultan Süleyman tarafından Balkanların pek çok vilayetine yaptırılan vakıflarla gelişmiş ve tipik bir Anadolu kasabası görünümünü almıştır.
Şehirde biri faal birisi de inşaat halinde olan iki adet Cami de bulunmaktadır. Şehrin yakınındaki kale, Asenovgrad'ın sembolüdür.

Asenovgrad, formerly Stanimaka (Bulgarian: Асеновград, Turkish: İstanimaka, Vodene-i Balâ or Vodene-i Zir), is a city in the Plovdiv Province of southern Bulgaria. It is close to the city of Plovdiv.
Asenovgrad was founded by the Thracians in 300-400 BC under the name Stenimahos. Around 72 BC, the city became Roman territory as a result of the Roman Empire's raids on the Black Sea. The long-lasting peace was disrupted when the Goths attacked and destroyed the city in 251, but the city was rebuilt. When Rome was divided into two in 395, Asenovgrad remained on the Byzantine side. In the 700s, the population increased with the migration of Slavs and the city turned into a Slavic city.
The city became a strong military support for the Bulgarians in the war between Bulgaria and Byzantium. Due to the strained relations with the Latin Empire, Bulgarian Tsar II. Ivan Asen strengthened the Stanimaha Castle near the city. For this reason, the name of the city was changed to Asenovgrad, which means "City of Asen", in 1934. Before that, its name was Stanimaka. During the Ottoman rule, this city developed with the foundations built by Suleiman the Magnificent in many provinces of the Balkans and took the appearance of a typical Anatolian town.
There are also two mosques in the city, one of which is active and the other is under construction. The castle near the city is the symbol of Asenovgrad.
