We're back with a more in depth look at our new Gen 3 Stanton Sherpa.
The Sherpa frame is a serious mile-muncher, great for all day and weekend epics, while having geometry calculated to win races.
However when things get steep and tec don’t underestimate this frame. With its 435mm chainstays and 68 degree head angle when 25% in the sag of a 120mm fork, this frame will have you attacking the trail as it has the manoeuvrability and playful nature you’ve come to expect and love from Stanton frames.
The original design ethos of the Sherpa was to create a comfortable, springy, all day frame thats happy riding monstrously large loops in the Peak District, yet when you’re tired and flagging and situations get steep and technical the frame has the geometry to inspire confidence and help you ride it out.
Designed around the 29” wheel and the 27.5+” wheel platform, the Sherpa has our custom designed drive-side yoke that creates space in the chain stays to accommodate large volume, deep tread 2.4” tyres on 29” wheels or full 3” Plus tyres on super wide plus 27.5” rims, while not effecting the short 435mm chain stay length as we refuse to compromise our class leading geometries!

Imagine if every bike company's owners knew this much about their bikes. Really helpful Dan!

When I first rode my Gen 2 Sherpa I was blown away by the handling, swooping through technical sections at warp speed. I felt like a (54 year old) riding god and thought it was the best bike I'd ever ridden - until I started climbing. I struggled to keep the front down. I put it solely down to the the short (shortest I'd ever tried) chainstays - though of course other aspects of the geometry were at play too. I ended up selling it to try something else. This new Gen 3 may well tempt me back.

Sounds very interesting you could do all the weights in kg not in lbs as you gave the weights in lbs and then said the frame from Taiwan will be a few grams heavier 🤪 also you could explain why your getting some made in Taiwan just out of interest keep up the great work

Wow this was a great explanation about frames geometry and construction, without any doubt I'll pay a visit just to order my next frame after the pandemic , I wonder what CAD software do you use for design.

So if I wanna run it on a 100mm fork, you will alter it's dimensions in comparison to an order aiming for a 130m fork?

Will the Gen 3 accept a 2x drivetrain? I ride a v1 with this set-up(38/24) which works perfectly in my area. so I wouldn't want to change it.
