This isn’t my usual type of content, but hopefully this helps people see a lot of what was announced without having to watch 12 hours of stream. You’re all awesome! Thanks for watching!
My opinion is 80-90% is pie in the sky nonsense the endless artists want, but will not go into the game. (For those that disagree show me a citcon where I’m wrong) so summary is good. I just can’t dedicate hours to things we will not get.
Great recap Even, and under 20min(?!) That's crazy, well done! I watched the streams live and the only thing I missed in the recap was the drones, but the info on them, beyond size variants, were kind of vague anyways. Sub & Liked, keep it up! :D
@Nmyoutube821 that's the thing it can't not become 1.0 without that's stuff so it will stay in development till it's done or until cig hits a wall pulls out of the project and runs it's 1 or the other their is no full release game with out all that at the end that's what their saying so of that doesn't come in them it will never be a finished game even if it takes another 10 years that's 1.0 that is their hard line drawn in the sand
This is one aspect that really bothered me. I get the gameplay aspect but lightning should be even less of a problem hundreds of years into the future than it is today.
My CitizenCon Journey: -Technical Showcase was looking great - SQ42 Prolog was amazing and left me with goosebumps - Went to Reddit to discuss what I saw and was mercilessly downvoted for being hopeful - immediately upgraded my Zeus to a Starlancer - Enjoyed the 1.0 preview and can't wait to see this stuff being done - I was left completely shocked and with an open mouth after the starbase announcement and especially the bengal in the drydock Overall, a great CitizenCon for me. :)
2026 is a bitter pill to swallow, but SQ42 was absolutely amazing. I LOVED it. Rewatched it 5 times already. Sorry you were downvoted. Cyberpunk and No Man's Sky had horrible releases and were much improved after 2 years. Hopefully the 2 years will provide this game with an equally good glow up.
@@DamonCzanik I would rather see them take the time and bring a polished game to the market than make the same mistake like Cyberpunk. I can also understand that it is frustrating to wait another 2 years, but at least for me there are enough games to play in the meantime. I really don't care about this karma thing on Reddit, I just find it funny and also a bit sad that the convention always attracts such trolls. But thank you for your sympathy anyway. :)
@@DamonCzanik Comparing the 2 years until launch to the time it took to "fix" Cyberpunk or No Man's Sky makes no sense. Both of those games were actually released to the public, while what we've only seen from SQ42 is "perfected" demo footage, that crashed twice and shows what looks to be about 50% gameplay 50% cutscene.
Good summary! Weird that lightning can destroy a big ship. You would have thought that each of these would act as a Farady cage just like an airliner.😊
It's not for realism, it's for gameplay. They need a way to force us to ground our ships and use ground vehicles and lightning is a good way to do that
I was SO busy this weekend. I was there for some CitizenCon, but this is exactly the recap I needed for day 1 and to learn about day 2 that I missed! Thank you!
I'm hyped for 3 big things, and two ships. I'm hyped for Genesis, Base Building, and the updated Social systems. And that Polaris update blew mind. I can't wait to it to be Flight Ready. And the Mirai Guardian silhouette was amazing too. It looks so chunky.
Thanks for this. I just didn't have time to watch all of this live due to the time difference and other things I had going on over the weekend. This was handy, cheers o7
4:15 that was really really cool, the weather and everything. But just like when the lightinings strikes the building and makes a glint or whatever, it would be so cool if we could see the same effect when Aurora got hit.
Pretty hype, thanks for the recap. I'm really glad they gave us some more info on insurance finally, as that's been one of my biggest questions since starting this game.
Something that immediately came to me when I watched the 2nd day presentation about Crafting and selling items to other players: Chinese sweatshops where low-paid workers work 10-15 hours a day to craft high quality items to sell to players for real money.
Idk man, that weather demo hooked me even more. I LOVE thunderstorms, so I'll be figuring out where storms are most likely to happen and making a base there. Also, would it not be incredible to have an ocean planet that storms all the time? Like that planet in Star Wars where they were making the droid army? I need that!
The thing that I took from the Star lancer was that its cargo boxes retract into its undercarriage - lets hope they can implement that into the Carrack and it can get back to its oeuginal intended shape.
Minor correction on Warranty vs Insurance - Warranty doesn't function without insurance but converts insurance from a UEC payout into replacement of the covered part. So depending on the tier of your insurance, Warranty will replace ship, ship and components, ship, components and personal items in the ship. Pledge store ships will get warranty but only get insurance for the time specified in your Pledge. So in the case of LTI that's indeed forever. But if its one of the other time frames that insurance will run out and they didn't say what tier of insurance pledge store insurance counted as. It may just be Tier 1 and we have to buy up to tier 2 or 3
This is the exact type of video I was hoping to find. I'm also wondering if I'm missing ship sales, I'd always heard Citizencon came with lots of cool ship sales, but I'm not sure.
I'm sad they didn't have the Starlancer BLD on sale. Of the three, that's the one that appeals the most. Some cargo, some accommodations, and building ability? Yes please.
I think CIG have convinced everybody to ignore the fact that their moons are 14% scale and their planets are 10% scale. Not so much HANDS_OUT touching the usables in this year's demos, apart from the heaviliy scripted S42 Action Moments. :)
Here's a assumption of the next 12 months ships: (CSV, Ursa variant?, Spartan like base builder/cargo hauler, Hornet MKII variants, Another Mirai ship, Prospector variant refining or base building or salvaging, Small hauler of some kind, Drake Ship?, Apollo, Starlancer BU for base building, Perseus, Ironclad, Pioneer)
We should see most of this by 2037. Except the ships they get to sell to people, those will be the things likely coming the soonest, they got to milk the cash cow. Personally I just want a base in a pve zone where I can mine on my own, refine on my own, and craft/sell as I want.
My concern with bases is the fact that other may be able to come along and steal what you have worked hard for. I cant wait for the medical Terrapin but I hope it costs much less than the overpriced Terrapin currently in game! It appears the Apollo Medivac/Triage were one of the silhouetted ships so I may wait for that release within 12 months! Still waiting for the 600i rework :(
They’re really digging a hole here trying to feed people more concept gameplay with rendered graphics and screens. As much as I want to be optimistic, It’s so hard to even believe half of these have been case studied / gone through PoC stage internally. It’s almost as if they had a meeting and listed all the gameplay, figured out what they can realistically achieve in the near future and wing it and worry about the implementation later. Only for it to be sacked in the future… like so many previous concept gameplays.
@@Bingchill11000 yep- especially at those illegal cargo places. There’s like a glitch where there’s 1000 npcs but even elsewhere I’m at 2 fps with 3060
Thanks for an awesome summary ! 20 minutes that pack a punch ! 2026 for SQ42 bummed me a little, but SC announcements for the next year and 1/2 hyped me back ! Can't wait for more social aspects, more systems and planets to explore, guilds and content, gameplays and things to do for reasons other than aUEC.
You do know that currently in the real world when a lightning hits a plane in the air it does next to zero damage right? The lightning that kills ships, makes zero sense to me.
787 was grounded due to holes in the plane from lightning. And this is rather weak Earth lightning. Jupiter has lightning 10x stronger than Earth. That is just our solar system. So who knows how strong that lightning is on whatever planet they were showing.
OWN A MCDONNALDS on a planet (pick a planet/moon) or own a Mcdonnalds drive through in space (any planet/moon) Be it space detroit (Pyro) or space Dubai (Terra) Have underground WARP PIPES (freight lifts) make RNG EQUIPMENT WITH RNG RESORCES (EVERYTHING i predicted pretty much happening and more) We need "mobjis" like star citzien themed emojis but they have to be on the basis that players who get OFFENDED by other players have to MODERATE the interaction themselves not "abuse the report system" I am so sick of the orwellian teacher over reach of the community team leaders and moderators actions on accounts for no real good reason and yes that include me and my account because i dared raise concerns about bad PR and how framing is delt with.
I don't think its a prospector variant, thats just a rework at least I would hope so. They have to change that ship massively to even give it space for components. For example inside towards the back wehre it says powerplant. A few centimeters behind that is some modeled engine stuff with pipes noone even gets to see whcih occupies the space where the component goes. Gives you an idea how sloppy and wasteful they were and probably still are modelling stuff thats behind the walls, reducing performance. Its really bad. So I do think thats a changed Prospector. But it could also be a MISC salvager and again just simply ignore the older ships as they have been all this time. Not getting fooled by new shiny things, CIG is not doing a good job unless they bring all the older ships to the current standard of ship building. And I don't mean gold standard, I mean funtional and quality wise along with design flaws eliminated. Like the Freelancers which should have escape pods, but their way of building out the ships there is no physical way of ejecting the pods on the left for example. To the side the door mechanism blocks its path, down is the front landing leg stowed away, and on the top are all those other bits and tubes. Horrible rule of cool, just slap a texture on and call it a day mentality. Edit: Also that bit at the end with 1.0 is another change I don't like. They said playing through SQ42 will give citizenship, there was never any time when they said its going to be in SC specifically. This is the first time. And I don't like that at all knowing the bad track record of SC missions.
the lightning was anoying. planes get struck by lightning all the time and they are designed to be strucked by lightningtheres a good chance if you've flown on a plan while its raining your plane was hit and zero damage happens. and its nice to know that lti doesn't really matter.
Good idea for a vid. Saves people a lot of skimming. Thumbs up. Every vid I've watching including Berks and this one keeps mispronouncing the word Intrepid. Clearly not Star Trek fans, lol. "in-treh-puhd". Just an FYI. At 17:27, I think that is the Ironclad. However, at 17:33, I think that is the new Pioneer. What is missing, interestingly enough, is the Galaxy. The Galaxy was supposed to be after the Polaris, with the Perseus last. Does that mean that the Galaxy is a surprise reveal at IAE? I've seen reddit posts from months ago saying the exterior was already done.
we have 8.8Billion people in 1 IRL planet, and there is a lot of places with not a single person in sight for many KMs.... If we have the 5 systems and content on them, it could work, we are used to empty planets now, nothing to do, too few bunkers, with 1000s of POI on each planet and moon it will be fun. Sadly, all that will not come for many many years...
Well, until dynamic server meshing is working flawlessly this isn't going to be an issue. Who knows how far out that is. Assuming DSM is working, you can't escape the laws of physics. There will have to be region based servers. No one will want to play on a 200+ ms ping constantly. So divide whatever number you have in your head by 3 or 4. Assuming 100,000 active players in a given region, we divide that by the number of planets, moons, space stations, asteroid belts, etc. means that the total number of players in a given area (outside major landing zones) will likely only be in the dozens. edit: hell, theres going to be around 20 planets, I think? Just dividing 100,000 players by 20 planets gets us down to within spitting distance of the most recent server meshing tests. It's not that crazy to fit 5,000 people in the millions of square kilometers of a planet.
Hard to get hyped for anything out of citizencon with the entire live environment broken and unplayable for days. Did we really need 24.2 rushed out before the Con? Seems counterproductive to frustrate your entire player base with a horrible build that breaks production the. Get up on stage and try to hype the players up and ask them to buy your new ships when no one can even play the game. Were kicking off the Zeus sales now instead in the next week or 2 really that important? Who is making these decisions over there
That lightning shouldnt do anything to the ship since the ship isbt grounded.... airplains get struck by lightning all the time and Notthing happens...
