Racing can be a beautiful journey of self improvement, getting any lap time and lowering it is proof you are getting better at flying the spaceships. Give racing a try today! 💖
I was really surprised to see you racing with me at the Crux Cup. Had no idea you had any interest in racing and I’ve watched a lot of your videos. It was an honor to share a track with you and I hope you keep feeding that racing bug. Racing brought a new life to SC for me, when I was about to quit the game for awhile. It’s good to see it is still inspiring ppl. Just imagine if every community in SC had the heart that the racing community has. SC would become unstoppable
Yeah I've previously done a few races - Crux Cup last year and a bit with the FRCN Racing Team, but this year I got way more into it. For a little while I managed to keep pace with you after you overtook me but then my turns let me down :D Next year!!!
Wow! Knowing now hard PU can be, the amount of effort required for this video can no be overstated.. the logistics, the amazing shots! I also like this isn’t a like & comment giveaway. It will be very rewarding for the winner if he/she is new to racing. I feel like this could be the start of a new series of careers in star citizen, matching it to a division within the org and a challenging giveaway at the end! Thx for the content!
Thoroughly enjoying racing in SC, looks by forwards to laying down competitive times with more practice! My best thing about racing are those turns where you BARELY make it around without clipping an edge!
This is the video I'm going to show new players, anyone like me who has taken a long break from SC, or anyone who suspects SC of being scammy. SC is notoriously quirky, behind expectations as far as timing, and prone to bugs. However, when it hits, it hits harder than any game I've played in my decades since first picking up an Atari 2600 joystick. This is what games should be. Innovative. Visionary. Challenging. Vast. Awe inspiring. Exhilarating. And most of all...fun. It speaks to the positive spirit of old school styles of gaming, when everyone supported one another and, as you say, shared tips and information without reservation because it makes the community and experience better. Positive communities like we see in Star Citizen are the perfect counter to the unfortunate recent trends in toxic online gaming. Let's keep it up!
As an ex-IMSA club racer and a current avid armchair sim-racer, which has invested heavily building a sim-rig, I regret not giving SC racing a go sooner. Watching your video has certainly reignited the sim racing bug!
Hey there, i met you briefly in the verse when we were both racing at Yadar valley around the same time, was cool to see you ingame and know about this a little early, hehe. Racing is alot of fun and i might have spent a few millions auec ingame to buy some racing ships. Cool video, would ove to see more of ou racing in the future!
Thanks Soleenzo! In that case I apologise for all of the debris I left in your way! Yep was a whole lot of fun, going to be heading back to YV a lot I think.
@@LoudGunsahaha, no problem, i leave a fair bit myself ahah. spices up the decor lol. Your idea of using the 890 as a racing carrier is great i have to say! tempted to save up to get my own hehe. see you around in the valey then ;)
Thank you for sharing this "lens" with your racing skill! Using a basic keyboard/mouse is also super cool; it allows way more accessibility to those interested in this beautiful game!
I think it's important if you're saying "try this out" to show it can all be done with basic gear - just like I'd never say here's a cool loop, but you need to buy a $500 ship to do it :D
@@LoudGuns I couldn't imagine paying thousands of dollars to QA an unfinished project. But yes, sometimes these kinds of loops are better with more participation. $500 for HOTAS is cool, but never required.
I absolutely love that you did KBM. I don't want an expensive flight Sim to get good at racing. Is it beneficial? Probably. But I'm pretty good at PvP with kbm, and always try to do like a "show off" landing when going to landing areas to challenge myself with ship control. Thank you for the inspiration!
It's technically astounding that they've managed to shoehorn fast racing into an MMO at all. Myself, I am low skill so I haven't really dipped into this loop yet, but...soon.
I haven't gone racing in months because I know master modes are just a few Weeks to a Month away, but when they are here, I'll be practicing, and racing with people every day. - I really wish that the Gold and Platinum Clear Rewards for each track was a respectable amount of UEC. like 30k for a Gold finish, 50k for Platinum finish, etc. would make racing fun and a repeatable rewarding game loop. - Also cannot wait for the day they do Racing Missions where your actually competing against other ships for a prize. - Great video as always M8. 🤟
I'd agree with you on that - the racing missions could undoubtedly pay a chunk more without getting inbalanced because of the skill required and the risk of total failure. And in PU races where a bunch of NPC's show up alongside you would be epic!
"Exercise a little self control..." i....uh....crap. But seriously i do love the arena commander race tracks for learning to fly better, or learning decoupled. Excellent vid, hope to see more tracks, and support infrastructure from CIG in the future
IIRC, Tint was flying your Phoenix in the LuxuryGP this year, yes? That was the first time I ever did a race in the PU and it was in my 400i. 🤣 Datamachine was just insane. By the end, their lap times were down to the point where they'd be in the Top 10 leaderboards even among a lot of fighters if not the racers. Had Maiden Ariana on in the background as she's making her push for Twitch Partner, and then she raided Quelsar. He was the other Penumbra 400i and he shared a video he took of himself doing the Tofu Run... in his 400i. So now I've been running that in my 125a to learn _that_ track before trying it in my 400i. Also finally got to do a GravLev race in my X1-Force when he loaded it up on stream. It's always been empty every time I've tried. This time it was still just the two of us. I did not win. 🤣 I upgraded my Gladius to an m50, being an Origin fan, but then upgraded that to a Razor, because it has better paints. 🤣TBF, it's a good looking ship in its own right. I'm sitting on the LX and EX CCUs for now. I also have the base Fury. The first time I took it into an AC race was at Foundation Fest last year. I did a guide session with a guy who wanted to get better at racing. We had both just gotten a Fury so we gave it a go. We died so, so many times. The first time I took a sharp curve, I pulled back on the stick to slow down, but I didn't just slow down, I accelerated to max speed backwards, almost instantly, right into a building behind me. It's insanely fun. If the Mirai Guardian is anywhere near as fun to fly, my Warden is in trouble. Racing is what I do now whenever I'm feeling unmotivated as we get near a patch. After the LuxuryGP, I'm starting to feel more like doing more PU racing and not just AC racing.
Yep I was enjoying a G&T in the back and admiring the view :D Racing is definitely a great thing to pass the time at the end of a patch when other stuff and motivation has run a little dry, really enjoyed getting round and completing this challenge!
Karolinger and his org took the Phoenix in for Overdrive Phase 3. There was the pilot, the turret gunners, and the rest were sitting at the dining table looking out the window at the battle. I love the Phoenix. It's one of the few ships that I'm ever tempted by to buy without CCUing and without LTI.
I think it all depends how you view it - in the PU racing missions you're probably restricted slightly, but when it comes to community racing there's huge variation through ship classes. In the Crux Cup at the weekend I was on a track with everything from Aurora's to MOLE's to Caterpillars!
SC is a joke to race in. Might as well be rocket league racing...Could it be better? sure. Physics still suck, MM is lazy and kills any hope of competitive racing in the near future. might as well be rocket league racing at this point. The upside, no real competition. It can feel good to get your name up high on a leaderboard with minimal effort.
I quit playing around 3.22 release, bc I was seeing crazy stagnation, nasty ol dev habits, as well as not wanting to sit in shit filled pants while bugs get "resolved". I hover around top 20-30 in world for drone racing. Top 10, if I get sweaty. Never bothered competitive in SC, bc of the low player count and miserable physics.. 6 dof racing can be a ton of fun. You chose to ignore the entire fucking point of my original post. Congrats!
