Not every ship manufacturer need (nor will) have every kind of ship. Crusader is clearly civilian, for example, and beside some very specialised options like A1 which are an an exception, I don't see it ever having a fighter or a capital ship of any sort.
@spartan117zm
@spartan117zm Год назад
@@captainharlock3998 ah yes, the Ares Starfighters, some of the best in the game, clearly civilian. Same with the massive bombs the A2 can carry and the blockade runner that is the Starrunner. And I don’t consider effectively half their lineup as “very specialized.” I agree not every manufacturer will nor should have every type of ship, but to say Crusader is a civilian focused company is a mistake.
@captainharlock3998
@captainharlock3998 Год назад
@@spartan117zm And I said there are exceptions :) Crusader isn't a military manufacturer so their fighting ships will be very very limited. aegis and Anvil + aliens are those you want to go if you want a pure fighter. That doesn't mean others can't make ships that can fight, but they'll be few and rare exception in their lineup. Manufacturer do not need to fill every aspect of the game in their line-up. Want a capital warship? Go Aegis or RSI.

I would say that Crusader, a company reknowned for their ethics is missing a trick with the spirit by not having a search and rescue/ medvac version in addition to a policing version. I mean in game they have a large area that they own being crusader and its moons. An area which needs to have search and rescue as well as policing. In lore crusader has been struggling in these regards and creating these variants would show that they are willing to be effective stewards over the planet and moons of crusader. For search and rescue variant (Spirit R1): better scanner in place of the remote turret (if possible), tractor beam, 2 or 3 med beds (like the cutlass red), maybe have two floors like the E1, possibly use drones operated by the copilot or a drone operator (either in the cockpit or in a drone bay in the midsection), weaponry would be reduced on this variant to provide more power to the engines and scanner. This ship should be better than the cutlass red but not as capable as the RSI Apollo, however the Spirit R1 should have beds for 3-4 crew members allowing it to go on long term missions. For the police variant (the Spirit S1 or P1): weaponry of the A1 but without the bombs, instead around 6 prisoner holding cells would be placed in their stead; quantum dampener with the possible option to mount a quantum snare (this would be useful in wolfpack tactics but would make the ship almost unmissable on scanners + wouldn't be as good as the rsi mantis' quantum snare); increased missile loadout; no tractor beam; 2 person crew with 4-6 extra seats for security personnel; increased power capacity; possibly an extra shield generator (lore wise it would be better to stick with the same shield generators at the ship could be rapidly converted to a police ship as a stopgap to a more effective design); turret has 360° freedom of rotation allowing for increase in effective firepower. This ship should be designed to take on a cutlass and generally win as that is one of the main ships used by the gangs of grim hex. This ship would also be ideal for bounty hunters and should retain its crew area for long haul missions.

The A1 is really hard to resist, but the E1 appeals to me because it fills a slot similar to the Cutlass Red -- fly around in a ship that can handle some basic/grindy stuff, but pick up interesting specialty missions whenever they appear. In the meantime, there's nothing stopping you from using those VIP lockers for specialized gear or extra storage.

I was waiting for this one. You were more positive on this ship than I expected. It isn't meta shaping by any means, but your points do emphasize how it fits nicely into gaps for what is available. The A1 more solidifies Crusader's dedicated bomber line of ships. So I would expect to see more from them in this category. While the E1 is Crusader's first foray into the luxury line. Which makes me wonder when we're going to see a Drake luxury ship (at least I'd love to see their attempt). The E1 looks like an in system shuttle not meant for anything longer than going from one side of a system to the other, or just going from one point of interest to another on the same planet. The C1 is the most vanilla and seems to only exist as a base model to fill out having three choices. So I would agree with your choice and say it is the stand out of the three ships. I'm not sure if A1 game play is what I will find appealing, but I may pick up a CCU.

I’m considering getting a C1, it looks great on the outside. But the current internal design mock-ups don’t really convince me yet. One thing that has always made the cutty and freelancer less attractive to me is the linear layout: cockpit-tiny living quarters-cargo. For a ship that’s pretty much as wide as it is long, I had really hoped for a more interesting internal layout, like a more compact star runner. I realize that there isn’t quite as much space here, but crew quarters next to the cargo space and a small rec room on the other side could have worked I think.

I think the C1 really is a great entry and option for people who are upgrading from, say, an avenger and want to feel a performance jump from a small ship to something a little more medium-sized. With the only budget option being the Cutiblack, this is great. Also fits well in Crusader'secosystem, with a great supplement to the C2 when it comes to supply runs. The E1, on the other hand, fits a roll but is from a manufacturer that doesn't have the ecosystem for it. A medium-sized people mover has been needed from Origin for years. I have always asked how you get people to and from the 600 and 890 without docking. An Origin E1-styled ship would be perfect for this. I think it's a great start for luxury transport, but I don't know if Crusader would be my choice for entry. You said it perfectly for the A1; it offers the opportunity for continuous bombardment and support for something like that; I can also see those gravity bombs being used as small bombs to take out larger ships from the inside. Great video and run down of the spirit line-up.
@jmcnear6688
@jmcnear6688 Год назад
I'm a little confused on your remark about the E1 being from a manufacturer that doesn't have the ecosystem for luxury transport. Crusader does have the ecosystem for luxury transport. They have the Genesis which will have first class luxury seating. Which is different from Origin but still considered luxury. I think Crusader falls in the commercial large and small transportation where as Origin is more in the private yacht type of transportation. Both have there place.
@austin.t5557
@austin.t5557 Год назад
@@jmcnear6688 Welp, personally, I feel the Genesis and E1 leave the Ecosystem mindset behind. This is likely because, outside of these two ships, not too many ships fit this luxury transport/People mover roll. In addition Because Crusaider outside of the E1 and Genesis also have a very clear role and ship expectation, I almost feel like the E1 ( with another ship design ), and Genesis could be moved to unique alternative manufacture, and it wouldn't change the perception and current ecosystem of Crusader. 100% of the two ships play a role that's needed in the vers but doesn't know if they mix well with "established" manufacturers.

The C1 (if) it comes out as advertised is what I have been looking to get into the game with. I was never drawn to the Cutty, some love trucks some love vans, some have to have a souped-up mud buggy, none are wrong we all have our preferred. Cutty is the loaner for this ship as well. Photos show interior doors to limit the problem of stowaways. Tracktor would be great for supporting a large salvage- fast in and out but moves salvage from salvagers on site on a multi ship site. C1 use for the new racing circuit being introduced into the game with ground vehicles? It moves fast site to site and the cargo looks to hold more than one small land vehicle.

I have an MSR already so the cargo version is unnecessary for me. The executive version seems kind of pointless at the moment because there's nothing to do with it. And it only carries four or six people, and has no cargo space to speak of. The bomber version is interesting. For people who don't want to spend $720 on the A2 this is a good mini version. 😆 I went with the bomber version. I would say 30% of the reason I went with the bomber version is because I will have a Freelancer Mis to use for the next 1-3 years? And I do like Freelancers. The loaners for the other two versions are unappealing to me. The other thing that sold me on buying a spirit was someone mentioning, which I forgot about, the buyback option. If something comes up in the Expo this year I can melt down the Spirit and buy the ship that's actually straight to flyable and then rebuy the Spirit with the buyback option when it's closer to being in the game.

If you happen to have $20 in Store Credit lying around you could simply do like me and get $5-$10 CCUs to each of the variants. Then you can just sit on them until the ships are flightready and decide then if you want to keep one (or all). During this upcoming Expo in November we are also likely to see discounted Warbond CCUs to a variety of ships which could help you with building potential CCU-chains to these (or other) ships. At present time the C1 feels like a more expensive but worse Cutlass Black; so I really hope CIG will take note of that and allow it to keep the defense turret plus maybe give it 2xS2 shields. Now you're basically paying the same amount as a Freelancer while that ship outperforms the Spirit in every way except maybe agility. More cargo, more firepower, 4 seats, 4 beds that also serve as escape pods, multiple egress points, and a defense turret. At flightready the C1 will be even more expensive compared to the Freelancer, so CIG definitely needs to make it a viable competitor as in its current planned setup it is nowhere near a competitor but an overpriced downgrade imo.

I don't think the E1 is meant for long-distance people transportation with multiple stops. I think it will overwhelmingly be used for short to medium distances, but to expand on what I mean by that, here's what I think the travel/transport thing is like to be like (now this is just my own speculation, you have been warned). First, you would have short hops, such as going from say Lorville to one of the outposts on Hurston. This might be a work team commute travel line, or something similar. Equally, you'd have the surface-to-orbit (space station) flight, that might also be commutes or moving tourists and whatnot. Then you have slightly longer jumps going from planets to the moons, or maybe even the L-stations. After that, planet-to-planet and finally system-to-system. I think the E1 would be perfect for any of the in-system or close-to-a-planet trips, as long as you only need to move a few people (I mean it is meant to be luxury class). Another scenario might be picking up passengers from a planet and taking them to Jump Point where they might board a larger ship that takes them out of the system. Will it work anything even remotely like that? No idea, but it'll be interesting to see. The A1 is just a straight-up Tactical bomber, whereas the A2 is a Strategic bomber. I don't really have much else to add to that. Personally, I did pick up a C1, because I did want a medium-ish sized daily driver, and despite my love for Drake, I've never been the biggest fan of the Cutty Black, and the Freelancers have also failed to win me over. The C1 fits nicely somewhere in between the two in several ways, while still having its own quirks, so it was pretty much a no-brainer for me. Your mileage may vary. I look forward to seeing all of these in-game, and I might have to eventually get all of them, though I think the A1 and E1 will be in-game purchases rather than cold cash buys.

This ship looks like it could be a go to daily driver for a lot of players who don’t join large orgs. It’s small enough to be convenient to enter and exit quickly. It’ll be maneuverable enough to land right in front of objectives but it’ll also have enough cargo space to be useful. If it can carry a Roc, it’d be a perfect competitor against the Cutlass and while I do love the design of the cutlass, this is more my style. . For passenger ships, my guess is that the trips are normally very profitable. The problem is pirates. Ransom on even 1 VIP is something a player running a ship this small would not be able to afford.

The A1 seems to be built as a tactical option for quick airstrikes and clearing terrain for friendly forces. Whereas the A2 is there to simply delete the frontline entirely in a strategic capacity. I suspect the A1's bombs will be considerably quicker to drop and subsequently much harder to hit, minimizing risk to the ship. So these would be best employed in groups for short engagements. Get in, drop the payload, and get out again. The A2 has the firepower and defense to linger in an area for ground support.

You're probably one of 2 creators for SC whose opinions on ships line up with mine every time. The Cutlass remains better at what the C1 does, the E1 is a weird niche ship that's cool but not very useful (and we aren't sure how useful a 6-seat transport is going to be in the future in regards to moneymaking), and the A1 does something that nothing else does below $700 and a full crew in the A2. Out of the three, the A1 seems to be the one with good capability, which does something unique in-game, and has the full complement of weaponry with nothing replaced by a tractor beam. That said, if the styling of the Crusader series is your thing, you now have an awesome multirole cargo, luxury multirole, and bomber to choose from and they'll all be very cool to drive around.

This seems unique to this ship. Why and how will this work? 8) VTOL performance The list goes on.

No, the missiles are probably not 8xS4, it's 8 missiles on 2xS4 missile racks, so if it's 8 missiles, that means they're S2 because S4 racks can hold 1xS4 or 2xS3 or 4xS2. This is confirmed by the PDF which still gives it 2xS4 racks but with 2xS3 each, for a total of 4 missiles, instead of the 8 missiles of unspecified size of the website. But at this point there's so much discrepancy between values from varying CIG sources, most not fitting the model at the dimensions given that it's a flashback to 2018, this is a poorly thought out concept built from the outside, they haven't sized anything prior to announcing it, the dimensions and characteristics will probably change drastically, I expect it to end up in the 40m+ category, roughly comparable to an Apollo.

I went with C1 as I was looking for a nice mid-size cargo hauler that doesn't look like shit (Cutlass that is beyond ugly and has unrealistic configuartion and ton of wasted empty space) or doesn't have a crippling design issue (Freelancer with its turret and top entry placement and overall weird design in which the only thing that makes sense is the cabin and crew quarters)

I am a Crusader fan and these ships look amazing. But I really wish they would make a combat version. They should think about the game loops we have atm. No one wants to pay for transport and have no reason too. Cargo is ok but most of the people looking to get a cargo ship already have one. And we don't really have a reason for a bomber atm. So why not take away the bomber and give us a ship we can do bounties with to start or go all the way up to HRT-VHRT's.

In terms of engineering, wouldn't an atmospheric and space capable craft have its cargo bay in the wings? That way they can use aerodynamics, which is less meaningful in space... but as a cargo bay, it retains its value in space. And the engine should be a central powerplant, that connects to different thrust ports, in different directions, all over the fuselage, with 2 main vents, for the main thrusters.
@Na0uta

I don't think these are the best ship options considering the cutlass black is still a thing. I would consider getting the bomber version of it and maybe the cargo one. Since functionalities for passenger transport isn't really there yet for making good money. If they make the cargo hold wider, I think it's a good option.

I personally went first with all the 3 of the ships I exchanged my 600i to get all of them, But then I saw something that did tell me not to get the a1 c1, They are both gonna be great, But I think abotu the following the a-1 as some kind of power but its main aspect is bombs which again are gonna be gravity bombs and not smart ones, Which just is gonna affect its weapons, (Until its out im gonna say its just a a-2 smaller with more bombs and probably not great in combat) And the c1 to be a cargo variant with tractor beam and thats it, Well It looks nice and it is, But then I decided to exchange them both (And left the e-1 because its my main interest) Once NPC transport is out I will get the starliner) But I think the right choice is going for the caterpillar you add abit more money and you got a awesome ship yet to be done but is advertised with many great things, First you get detachable cockpit into its own ship, (You will be able to go fight which will be fucking hilarious) and so much more, That is gonna be my choice until NPC transport is out, And once it is, I might even fully migrate into the starliner.

I find it odd with the variants have cargo hold, bomb racks ....or a upper floor for VIP escort, but they don't say anything about the lower half of that variant.. presumably it's still a cargo hold? but it just seems odd that it's never mentioned. I kinda wish all versions could have a option for the glass roof though. (but the shape of that is also kinda odd, it provides no forward view at all, even if the pilot is aiming below the planet they're going to, the front of the window is shaped to the passengers can't see the destination at all). but other than that i like the ship, we could use more non-specialized ships of that size that rubs shoulders with the cutlasses & Freelancers

Will the component size have to be increased now it is around 10m longer than the ship it was supposed to compete with and will the cargo size increase if they got the dimensions that wrong on the reveal? Looking forward to the Q&A this week.

The C1 is really not appealing from a price perspective a base Freelancer cost the same and is flight ready (aka the C1 will cost more when it is to) and really the freelancer just matches and mostly exceeds the C1, 50% more cargo and doubling up on many key components. Speaking of the face that the A1 also runs single components for a ship that will take a lot of fire because people tend to take offense if you want to drop explody things on them. So not having 2 shields to get some more protection and like 2 power plants for redundancy is insane.
