The simpit was designed to be used primarily with Star Citizen, however, it was also designed to be used for Flight Sims and to play any regular games.

Feature List:
Most of the hardware was built from scratch, excepting any retail items such as sticks, etc.
Simpit Integrated Displays
3 Displays on the main dash
1 Heads Down main display
2 MFD displays coupled with Thrustmaster MFD Cougar controls
All integrated displays can make use of or be the target of projected scenes with plugins/custom interface elements, other players points of view, or to manage and run other programs. MFDs can control other programs without the need to Alt-tab between windows via hotkeys. Custom configurable interface elements on a per game basis can be run on each display.
Holographic Display / Targeting Computer
Uses a 'peppers ghost' type hologram to display a transparent overlay in real time of a gunner or another players point of view. This does not block the main display thanks to the hologram being transparent. This can be either done locally, or with extreme low latency streaming. It can also act as a 4th auxilary monitor. It is on an articulated piston arm, allowing it to be moved to anywhere needed.
Integrated Simpit controls
All buttons/switches/dials etc. are functional, able to send USB joystick input to the PC which can be bound in games. All panels attach magnetically and can be replaced for different styles, or a change in the location of the controls.
Responsive Landing System
Landing gear indicator lights that match in game state, including automated landing.
Autopilot Panel
Acts as a button box, or an autopilot toggle for more serious flight sims. Has the ability to be programed on the fly without sending input.
Articulated Accessories
Keyboard, mouse, and G13 gamepad trays allow what conventional controls you need to be moved into reach to convenient locations, or stowed away quickly.
Conventional Hardware (Current Configuration)
Main Display
5120x1440 120hz 32:9 Super Ultrawide 49" VA
Right Stick - Virpil Constellation Alpha
Left Stick - Virpil Constellation Delta with Omnidirectional Throttle mod (A modification to the mounting of the left stick, using a custom angled adapter for the Virpil/Warthog style threads. This aligns the twist axis to an up/down direction to match the coresponding strafe)
MFG Crosswind pedals
Wireless TrackIR sensor, attached to a wireless headset for full freedom.
A standard desktop machine can be connected to the chasis, and due to a custom modular connection, can be powered on via power buttons on the simpit, rather than the PC. All components can be removed without soldering/desoldering.
Chasis cabinet containing the PC hardware, and the simpit hardware is vented by mesh panels and 4 200mm fans.

How do you stay on top of key mapping? I use Joystick Gremlin and every time anything changes, I lose everything... After a while I realized that I spend more time mapping keybinds over and over in the various titles than I do actually playing. As a result, I've stopped writing macros and advanced functions. If I could force an ID in windows, or use some sort of intermediary pi device to create a stable environment that can simply connect to windows - I might be able to do a pit and iterate on my changes rather than continuously starting over. How do you keep it all working?
@AfterimageFlight
@AfterimageFlight 3 года назад

Even between boots it can change which is extremely frustrating when it comes to trying to maintain bindings. Make sure you don’t have any XID devices connected, such as Xbox stuff. you can eliminate the need for a keyboard and a few other things you have in your setup by incorporating voice control into your setup. of all the voice control programs i have come across, Voice Activated Commands is far and away the best out there. you can program macros easily with it's GUI. no coding required. it's also universal. i use it with some of my editing and graphics software to streamline tasks. something you might want to consider to make the game a bit more futuristic feeling. if anything it can be used work controls in the game not mapped to your cockpit hardware.

2 years Later and the game is probably still another 10-15 years away. What a waste of money. If the game is ever finished, by the time it is I wonder how much money will have been wasted because of the need to change, redo things or have to put right replace/remove items. It is a beautiful simpit from what I can see and you've done a good job making it. So for that part I most definitely commend you on a job well done. That takes a lot of dedication and time to do. So for your sake and all those who wasted lots of real money on stupid video game spaceship models.

Whats the total spend in this whole set up? 2k pc 1k joysticks and keyboard mice head tracking 2k screens different sizes 1k buttons magnetic panels 2k frames construction seat 💺 Is that about right?
@AfterimageFlight
@AfterimageFlight 4 года назад
I think you’re in the ballpark, but some of the categories are off. The frame and integrated controls/seat are closer to 1100-1200. It’s made from 2x3 and MDF/Plywood/Plasticard. Joysticks and such, including pedals are closer to 1500. We talk about it a bit here, about 35 minutes in: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x07vMqIKMQY.html

@@AfterimageFlight 10:00 no element on your screen displays the landing gear info. Unless you are "faking it" and having the switch toggle between green and red state.
@AfterimageFlight
@AfterimageFlight 4 года назад
“For the controllers, its just keeping an internal state that stays in step with what changes in SC. For example, the landing gear doesn't monitor the status currently, it just moves both the internal controller state along with the landing gear state at the same time, with a function to flip the states on each so they end up being in a corresponding state that maches each other. But there's no data connection to SC. It's not a perfect solution, but its about as good as can be until we get some sorta API.” It doesn’t get the state, it’s set to a state that causes both to match initially. One press of the lever flips the controller state, and sends the usb button input that’s bound to the landing gear. If something happens that breaks them being in the equivalent state, then they would be off. For example if you take off, retract gear so the gear is [up], and the controller state is [red], and then your ship explodes, the controller doesn’t know about the explosion when you respawn the ship at a pad. Likewise if you used a different keyboard binding, it would also break the lockstep states. In both cases, the controller state would be [red] but the gear state would be [down]. To fix this, the controller has a manual input that only is used for recovering to a matched state. Hope that helps. Given how rare it would be for me to use another input, to get that Effect, it’s good enough until we get some sort of API. I am probably not going to demo it on a video, but if you want to stop by a stream I can explain show it in real time. twitch.tv/JaguarMG
