I love how there’s a shockwave from the arrival of the ships that’s a very nice detail. Realistically tho, the shockwave from something that big breaking the sound barrier 800,000 times with the speed of light would be enough to shatter entire planets. The Death Star doesn’t even need a laser 😂😂
@CameronKinvig
@CameronKinvig 3 года назад
The energy released from a a ship of that mass hitting the atmosphere near to light speed would actually be the equivalent of the biggest nuclear explosion ever seen. Probably destroying the surface of the earth as well as igniting the atmosphere

the ships don't travel at light speed. they're more or less stationary when exiting hyperspace (and exiting hyperspace doesn't produce any shockwaves or ripples through matter). the sound you hear is the ship breaking through spacetime to enter or leave hyperspace

Really good. If you see this, I have a few recommendations for version three, You could have a ground view looking up at the sky with the sun in the middle of the camera in New York City, then the super star destroyer arrives blocking out the sun, followed by regular star destroyers. The imperial March would start to play as the first one arrives, and the shockwave would remain the same. Personally tho, I think these were moving a bit too fast. They should be a bit slower. But super good animation

One could only hope. We'd have control of a bunch of Star Destroyers in the time it would take for the SEALs and Spetsnaz to commandeer the landing craft, fly back up, and walk from the hangar to the bridge. The Imperials are really so incompetent, and their systems so simple, that it probably wouldn't even really require military personnel to do it. Might not even require actual pilots, either.

Coming out of hyperspace... in the atmosphere? There's be more than a sonic boom, the ships themselves would go "boom" slamming into the atmosphere at Mach 1,000,000,000.
@CameronKinvig
@CameronKinvig Год назад
Yeah, if we're going by real physics here: 1. Objects can't exceed the speed of light, especially not on the scale of a star destroyer 2. That amount of energy slamming into the atmosphere would probably destroy that side of the world 😅

Two critiques: - First off, I'm fairly sure that Star Wars ships can't jump straight into or out of a planet's atmosphere. I don't care what the sequel trilogy did - those films are stupid and incoherent. In every other situation, ships have had to fly up and out of a planet's gravity well, to an unspecified but non-trivial distance, before they could enter hyperspace. Likewise, ships are always shown ending a jump in orbit around a planet, outside of the atmosphere. Presumably because, even aside from hyperspace, they're probably travelling at ridiculous speeds relative to the planet, and so hitting the atmosphere would be like plowing into a brick wall. So Star Destroyers arriving in orbit around Earth would not interact with the planet's atmosphere. There would be no sonic boom, only silence. - Second, we need to talk about distance, perspective and scale. The Karman Line is the internationally recognised "edge of space". It is the point where areodynamics stops working, and a vehicle needs to turn to astrodynamics to stay aloft. Wings, propellers and jet engines stop working, and you start needing rocket thrusters. The Karman Line is 100 kilometres above the surface of the Earth. A Victory II-class Star Destroyer is 900 metres long. Look straight up, hold out your hand at arm's length, and raise your thumb. At 900 metres in length, a Star Destroyer at the Karman Line would appear the same size as your thumbnail. The International Space Station orbits at 408 kilometres up, 4 times the Karman Line. Get a tailoring or dress pin - the kind with a coloured ball on their safe end - and hold it up at arm's length. A Star Destroyer orbiting at the height of the ISS would appear as small as the head of that pin. Space is really big, and orbital height is really far away. It's hard to tell how zoomed-in this shot is meant to be, but you've definitely made the Star Destroyers far too big. And at orbital height, they might not even be visible in daylight.
