Ooo look! I found the browns!!!! LoL 😂😆 This is great, I'm glad you're doing this, because their are people out there saying the set up isn't good, and finding the browns was confusing. Any one can find the browns and this system is the best and easiest for beginners.
@@polarbearhero9803 well there was a certain RU-vidr who put out a nasty video taking about the browns in the Star Joy Gold set and how it was set up, even went as far as calling Lori a hook or gimmick for the pencils, it made me mad 😡 and I answered her video and called her out on it! So now it's kind of a joke anout the browns.

Miss Lori I have had my pencils for a month now I put them in my case in the order that you have them, it makes it so easy to get the colors that I need. It makes it so easy to get the colors I need for my drawings or my coloring books. I would never put them in any other order. I am so happy that you have started this new channel. I draw and color halfway decent but since the car accident that I was in my memory it's not what it used to be. I was working on a picture last night and was trying to avoid using Star-Joy Gold because I don't want to just use those pencils. I couldn't do it. All the colors I needed were in the Star-joy Gold set and no matter where I looked I couldn't get it right. I ended up using them anyways. With the case it takes literally 5 minutes to clean up.
LOL, Lori you made the absolutely perfect pencil set. And I understand what you mean because I have a hard time using my other two sets now. A matter fact I need to get me another set I'm wearing my pencils down Karma LOL
I just bought a Star Joy Gold set from Amazon. I am waiting very patiently for them to be delivered. Hopefully tomorrow... Can't wait to start drawing with them. I am new to colored pencils but not new to "making art." I have painted in oils for many years but decided to learn watercolor and colored pencil painting and drawing. I, too, would never change the order. The order makes common sense to me and I work better with that. I have a case and I'm going to write the color number behind each pencil as well. I am so excited about these lessons. Thank you for your hard work even when you're sick.

If you don't know the color really well, burnish a tiny swatch on a piece of scratch paper and look over at it. I sometimes don't realize either and will go too hard.
Thank you so much for this channel Lori. I ordered the Star Joy Gold pencils back in November, but I am only now just getting around to using them. So far they are a lovely pencil and very well thought out. I am very impressed with the quality (I am a polychromos girl). I do have a question, I received 2 #70 and no #56. Is there a way to get this individual pencil". Thank you for all you do and I hope you will post many more beginner videos and that you are adjusting to all the changes in your life.

There are times that I don't know why I choose the colors I chose I just know it works 😂. It will be great to understand why it does or doesn't work. I've finally been able to buy a set of these pencils. I love how amazing you have set the pencils and how easy they are to use with all the hard work done for me. They are also lovely and buttery. Thank you for all your hard work. The only picky thing I would say is for me I would not have put black in and had another colour but that's me being very picky.

You made this video before you got sick. I hope you are doing okay. Thank you for the video. Can't wait for future lessons. I contacted you a while back about polychromos family color order. I am still working on it. I am mechanically inclined and can fix and repair things but I've discovered I have a hard time with color. I want it to be all scientific. But it is so subjective depending on your eyes. Still working on it though. Love you. Take care.

Okay Lori. After much hemming and hawing and listening to the Castle fanatics (especially Harry, who's one of my most trusted advisors but I feel like he just loves Castle too much sometimes) as well as you, and knowing your love for good pencils for colorists of all levels at affordable prices, I finally got a set and I'm already happy I did. Because they don't smell like Brutfuner squares 🤣. I love my Brutfuner squares but every time I get a new set I have to leave it outside for 2 hours with the trays separated and that's often the case with pencils made in that country. I think it's the paint. Anyway, I'm starting page 27 in Botanicum, I'll let you know how it goes. I plan on watching your tutorials because, while I have an extensive classical education in art from great institutions, I feel like I have much to learn about coloring sometimes. I also feel like there's no better source to learn about the specifics of a colored pencil than from the developer. What other set does this? Thank you ❤️. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Awesome Lori. I look forward to the lessons ahead. I could tell by reading comments of other YT and FB that many have not watched your other videos explaining your process. I am SO glad you did a standard jewel set. Right now all I have to do to get a tritone (which is why most are complaining) is grab the jewel color, a lighter shade and a darker shade in the anagolous or muted tone and I am good to go because all I have to do from there is add gray or white. I am still experimenting with the grays because I know from your other videos that warm doesn't always go with warm colors but I am figuring it all out. Also, I wanted to tell you that your skin tone set is great and helping understand my more professional sets better. I mixed all my Luminance portraits in with my others Luminance and I have since removed them and put them in their own case. Makes so much more sense now.
Yes! That's the key to this system. You grab the middle, put it up against the color wheel. It will tell you exactly which direction to go. Grab your pencils from the Analogous pencils which are clearly marked and you are good to go. If you need a light version just look to your Pastels and Muted colors. It's that easy. The one pin head RU-vid artist wanabe that stuck her nose up in the air and declaired her way is the best way is a NUT case asshole who gives really bad advice and makes shit up as she goes along. "There are no brown pencils". YIKES.

Makes me wonder how long she has been coloring because to me a “seasoned colorist “ is going to be able to color a whole lot better than what she showed! I have seen many negative reviews for products and never felt bad. They were just negative reviews. This one though felt more like a personal attack towards you and not a review for the pencils. Lets say fast something good for the pencils so that we have a lot of time to badmouth Lori kind of style... I am sorry I searched for this video and gave her one more view, and at the same time made my depression worse. Never mind her. Keep up the good work! Each time I see one of your videos I learn something new and I leave with a big smile on my face!
I'm having a hard time with my pencil set. The 3pencil color groups are arranged dark to light, so I keep having to check if I've got the darkest of the set or if the next pencil is going to be the next color group. I've heard that there was a modification of the pencil order after the first 100 sets were produced. Is this accurate? If I order another set will the 3 pencil groupings possibly be arranged from the lightest to darkest?

One questiion (might be in a future video) do you have or plan to make a different swatching chart from the one that came in the kit. I saw your explanation of it when the pencils first arrived but I would like to do one on a different kind of paper. I can always use a general chart but just thought I would ask. These look amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Knowing what the price is in the US at around $33 I think. I’ve just looked on Amazon UK they are sitting at £78 which is a little high. I’m not sure I can wait I might have to buy them at this price. By the way, you can never have to many greys. Lori, I will be buying these pencils eventually, but mean while, is there a way I can place my Prismacolor pencils in the order like you have done with this set? Happy New Year !
You can try but they are different sets with different colors. Some of the colors might be the same (I don’t know) but certainly not all. Also these pencils are oil while Prismacolor are wax. They need to be used differently.
I am teaching a system for picking colors. Any set can be put in this type of order as long as you can recognize it. If you get stuck on any color I'll be happy to tell you where it would go.
Do you plan on a lesson just using the gray pencils? I know I should use them more but not sure how to. Moved my SJG pencils to a case also and it takes up less room on coloring table.
