I like the 7 full party battles, and the dodging and also the parry counter in the game. Much more effective, compared to final fantasy 7 remake. I think the max party members is final fantasy 7 remake is only 3, sad... Only thing missing was taunt like in Star Ocean 3, to keep healer safe.
@Kevin Lee Well I'm about 13hrs in and I hate to admit some of the reviews are right, the story is pretty bland and not interesting at all, I didn't like that most of the battle moveset and music is copied from SO3 either, doesn't really feel like it's own game, I still have a bit more to play but so far the game is a 5.5/10 imo
Sincerely hope Star Ocean 6 is better than this one was. I know a lot of people had issues with SO4, but imo Last Hope still had a bit of actual soul in it, even if the characters were basically walking tropes. Integrity and Faithlessness was just...soulless to me. In fact, I put the game down after beating the main story and never touched it again.
Hate to say it,but as excited for Divine force as I was,I'm heavily disappointed. The frame rate on PS5 is terrible, combat feels even more basic, yet complicated, and heavily limited. It feels like they tried to bring back the Fury system from Till the end of Time but failed miserably
Super late reply here, my bad. I actually did enjoy Divine Force quite a bit, but imo it still doesn't reach the Second Story/Till the End of Time zenith. Definitely felt like a bit of redemption after SO5, though. I like Raymond's theme, it really fits his laid-back/sort of juvenile personality. I'll have to do a second playthrough with Laeticia as the protag sometime. Combat in S06 was actually lot of fun imo, but sometimes the mechanics would totally break the rhythm for me (i.e. having to regenerate AP and so on). Now that Second Story's getting a full-on remake I'm back on the hype train lmao. The new break/assault battle mechanic looks hella fun and I'm liking just how fluid combat in general looks--and I'm glad they tweaked the magic system so it doesn't fully freeze combat (iirc it slows it down quite a bit instead). Hopefully they also bring back _all_ the different elements (star, gravity, vacuum) instead of just keeping the "normal" ones. The spell combo feature would be neat to see return, but it's probably safe to assume break/assault make it totally unnecessary. Also really hoping Noel is actually _good_ in Second Story R. SO6 was pretty good imo, but yeah, it definitely doesn't measure up to SO2. I've really missed how crazy battles could get in the series.
