This is actually fairly accurate. The way the Prometheus curb stomped a Nebula in Message in a Bottle, I think you could do this with four Intrepids and still win.
The Nebula was giving the Romulans an anxiety attack until MVAM overpowered their aft shield. The regenerative shielding wasn't completely effective. What the should have done was created two powerfully functional components with phaser columns, forward and aft launchers, and a superfire triple pulse cannon turret. It probably would be easier to build and maintain even with ablative armor than the gimmicky three parts each with their own systems. With each section being a little tougher, or A LOT with turrets, the third becomes an unnecessary risk of potentially losing a middle component necessary for reintegration. Cannons can give you a triple whammy since they'd be so close together. Dorsal and ventral sections firing about three or more torpedoes, three pulse cannons, and two to four beams each would quickly obliterate most other combat vessels.
Now this is a pormetheus class. A capable frontline vessel incorperating a ton of different advanced technologies that would eventually mature in the sovereign class her bigger more powerful cousin.
Considering how much of a beast the Prometheus class is, it speaks a lot to the Intrepid class that they were able to do that much damage to it. I think without Quantum's the outcome qould have been different though.❤
