This is why the original series Klingon ships typically traveled in packs of three. One on one, a D7 has no chance against a Constitution Class starship. But even into the Movie era, taking on three at once was for fools and madmen.
Interesting how the dorsal phasers fire from the three traditional placements but the ventral one's fire from the dome. That certainly gives the ventral phasers almost total coverage. Nice battle! 👍
The best thing about the TOS Connie is you can put the weapons wherever you like 😂 I was experimenting with different weapon layouts and really liked the single dome phaser, I think it offers something a little different and still feels authentic
@@adamlee2111 if you wanna go further, for the dorsal phasers keep the port and starboard placements but but the forward facing placement at the fore of decks 2/3. That's were most schematics I see puts them, including the Defiant schematic from Enterprise.
May I make a request? I really like the idea of the "Minor Races (to coin the BOTF lingo)" being well represented in the videos. I know the Talarians are like a century behind Starfleet but it might be cool to see their cruisers be armed with some interesting weapons to make them quasi competitive in numbers. I tend to think the Cardassians or Romulans may have slipped them some older weapons just so they would pose a modest problem for Starfleet. In that vein it might be cool to see some of the more powerful minor races (we don't see much of unlike the Tholians or Gorn) represented. Like the Talarians, Tamarians, Pakleds, Sheliak, Tzenketh and Yridians.
@@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 no worries, I intend to add a load of minor powers ships 👍 will give me an opportunity to get creative, I want kinetic weapons to make an appearance along with missiles and Battlestar Galactica style cannons. Minor powers in the Ent/Tos era will be perfect for this
@@crownprincesebastianjohano7069 I’ve made some adjustments since uploading this. Basically the D7 in this battle is now the D7-A variant, much less capable than a Constitution but far more common. I balanced the D7-M last night, appeared just before the Connie refit and was the basis for a K’Tinga class, equal to an original Connie I will add the D7-S in the TMP era as the final version of the d7, basically a D7-M with upgraded defences, about equal to a Starfleet Akula class
I've done this for TOS/TMP era ships to provide different gameplay mechanics across the eras. Otherwise TOS era battles play out the same as the DS9 era except for different visuals and sound effects. Basically, I'm trying to make each era distinct.
Umm, the D7 was just Phasers and Disruptors. They weren't equipped with Torpedoes. The hole in front is recon sensor. The torpedo launcher was the big upgrade to D7
That we saw anyway. It's perfectly plausible that some did have torpedo launchers as the Klingon's had that tech before human's did. It depends on the house the ship belongs to really.
@@02ujtb00626 There were also a number of official variants in beta canon which accounts for it. I'm balancing the D7-M tonight, which debuted just before the Connie refit and was equal to a pre-refit Constitution. I've used the ENT D7 model for it (I pretend that ep never happened) to bridge the aesthetic style of the original D7 (the D7-A) and the K'Tinga model I'm using
The D7 is a work in progress, there were several variants of it in beta cannon. Most were inferior to a Constitution but the D7M was almost even and formed the basis for the later K'Tinga class. Given the lack of canon TOS designs I'm looking to include some of these for variety
