This recap video is a great idea, as by the time a new season arrives I've completely forgotten what happened in the previous one! More of these please Nick!
Great summary. However, as we have seen in the past, knowledge of the previous season really didn't prepare us for the next season. Each season is a distinct villain in which the Discovery crew works together, with Star Trek technobabble, to defeat. Each one has very little to do with the previous one; (1) Lorca (2) Control (3) Emerald Chain (4) very large yet-to-be-named villain that Discovery defeats. Sure some of the science and visuals don't make sense, but it's Star Trek ... true believers.
It was another rollercoaster... some really good new ideas, and then again the general discovery problem of storylines not solving, leading nowhere, bad characterizations and story twists that seem forced and do not pay off.Sad, the series has so much potential and yet they always manage to ruin it again after they somehow made some progress in bettering things. Weird show. It started off as Firefly , then became Andromeda , then fell into the retro-trek trap and then ... a very unsatisfying solution for the burn and Saru gets fired, Burnham a very unbelievable promotion ... i really wonder where thst ship is going next.

Sounded pretty terrible. They just keep coming up with miracle solutions for the "nick of time" moment but conveniently cant plan ahead. Overall just a crew with poor planning abilities.
Good morning Nick, Well done informative for those how may just beginning to star watching the series. I did think it is the best of Discovery , I am hoping season four is even better, I like the new uniforms BUT I WOULD LIKE THE RANK ON THE CUFFS. Thanks for sharing.
Just finished Season 3 and it sucked overall, the cause of the burn was really dumb. I'll watch S4 eventually but not in a rush after such a disappointing season.

I watched all of S1 and S2 but 4 episodes into S3 I was just like, "I can't do this!". just kinda not fun anymore, heh. only a few parts of each episode are worth watching. the fight scenes are too long, too much filler, and the weird plot devices and dumb twists are just bad writing. At least Tilly is fun.

I have tried to rewatch season 3, it's awful. So many missed opportunities to have been a much better series and connected far better to the overall franchise.

I'll agree, the first 2 seasons weren't that bad as far as having some original ideas and concepts. But season 3 went too far in focusing on the gay agenda. Just pure leftist woke bullshit. Goodbye Star Trek Discovery!!

Worst 3rd Season in franchise history since TOS (but even that had a few better episodes). The Burn was laughably bad. And Tilly as Captain 🤢 It's disappointing that S4 looks like more of the same.
The cause of the Burn was such a let down. Why is the whole galaxy always at risk in this show. Going that large undermines high stakes drama and smacks of a lazy writers room. I will hate watch episode 1 of season 4 but honestly I'm not happy that it's come to this.
Studios think unless the stakes are universe ending, audiences wont be impressed. But the problem is now they are just re-doing the same schtick as last season it seems. A good hero is enhanced by an equally good villain, and its hard to get excited about a cloud of gas.
@@Sci-Finatics the lesson is there in the tos movies. V'ger: cloud of gas. Khan: a masterful villain, who saved the franchise. I remember when Michelle Forbes was written into BSG and it was so exciting to watch someone so formidable. But you have to pay a good actor. Clouds of gas are relatively cheap to animate.
I am disappointed in ALL of the newer series, story-wise. I actually like Discovery but couldn’t believe how WOKE the franchise has gotten. I wanted to love Picard, but overall it was weak =/ And it just isn’t the same when these shows are on streaming platforms that only allow half the # of episodes than the older series.
Finished season 2 finally and hoped it was the end of burnham, started season 3 and very disappointed this poor actor was allowed back ! Why are they distorting Star Trek with crap actors like this ? Are they trying to annoy us with characters like birnham? May as well call it burnham trek ! Please get rid of this character and actor who can’t act to save her life !
There is a reason I just saw the 1st commercial during 2021 football. CAUSE NO ONE CARES!. Pushing Black women and women lead roles will yield the same viewership as women's soccer. Keep trying to shove it down our throats, then cancel goo actresses for off stage political. And we will refuse to watch just out of spite! No need for a call to boycott.. it's just understood.
They lose you as a fan and gain me as a fan. You'll be okay. Plenty of other shows where white men run everything all the time. You're not lacking for choice.
Stopped watching midway through this catastrophic season. Worst of the worst for a Star Trek fan. Actors wasted on garbage scripts and nonsense EMO drivel.
Lets face it. They had no idea georgio character was super crap, and that Michael name just stupid for her. The captain soru they should have binned his character season 2. They could have made good episodes instead it was just shit. And gays kissing PLEASE. Dont keep showing that. Im a straight man and its a real put off
