Was anybody else disappointed they didn't repair the other 4 towers before leaving ?

And Burnham even explained that they fixed that one. Meaning they COULD fix the others

I thought they did offscreen. If they explained the purpose of the tower and showed the priest the whole world, surely he would've connected the other towers to his failing one.

Sharing the Denobulan information was *HOW* she was able to get him to stop the ritual, she had get him to realize an entire different reality to get him to give up on killing his own daughter for "The Gods." The number "5" written on the wall matched the image on the previous puzzle piece, which told them which tower it was located in.

Trekkie props are great and all but it's the 32nd century. The "ingredients" you're talking about being removed or miniaturized make sense in this context. The tricom badge is a great evolution for the communicator to integrating a tricorder and transporter.
@martinschroter444
@martinschroter444 Месяц назад
I absolutely agree. You need to show how ~900 years evolution could look like and can’t stick to the same physical devices they used to have in the 23rd century. Advanced comm batches with holo tech and ability to beam you directly, nano tech and scanner implants? Yes, bring it on!! 😊 I think that’s more important than props in your shelf, mate lol

To bad, I would love to see a Denobulan again, I really like that species. Also, this is the second time that Detmer and Owosekun are absent, I hope they'll appear in the next episode. And also, the Academy is mentioned a couple times in this episode, it makes me wonder that maybe some of the crew of Discovery might become instructors in the Academy. P.S. The 32nd century archeologists are probably angry with Kovich for vandalizing an ancient (21st century) artifact.

This show never disappoints. Youd think with 32nd technology, Discovery could find away through the shielding, without interfering in the natives lives. But this is Discovery. Even out of her mind, Tilly is still insufferable. I have every confidence the natives wouldn't have shared their water with her. They would have happily went to their fates in service of their gods. But since this is Discovery, they have to meddle and interfere with the natives lives and beliefs. And this Cubler thing, he should just go back to Trill or stayed with the natives planetside and have them help him what he is going through.

Why leave an almost completed puzzle just exposed on the ship? And now they are head to Mol and Lark directly. What the hell? Mind as well just hand it to them...I just think they should just get the final clue and secure the special technology first, b4 they get mol and lark. It's just risky with an almost completed puzzle and attempting to capture mol and lark at the same time.

My question was did the prime directive apply in this situation? The prime directive is designed to prevent civilizations from gaining technology way beyond their own means in fear of what damage it could bring. However, on this planet life wouldn’t be possible without the Denobulan technology. At that point, withholding the knowledge of how to operate the technology essential for their lives is doing more damage than breaking the prime directive. All that said, isn’t discovery on a red directive mission? You’d think that would give them special circumstances to break the prime directive. Plus it would’ve been fun to have them basically show up and say “yea I’m sure you’re gods are great and all but we’re on mission to found the power of the god of gods”.

I think it's weird that we hold discovery to a standard that we dont expect of over shows. This series was always going to be about Micheal journey and her Captaining style. She not Picard she not more like Kirk in style because thar closer to the time she started her Star Fleet career. Its wasn't going to be TNG because they we're trying to remake it just like DS9 and Voyager were different so is Discovery this show has given is more trek than any series since birth of the franchise yet it appears that people are determined to shit on it. Its not a perfect show but neither was any of the previous treks. You are just remembering them with rose color glasses. Go back watch the old stuff and you will see they had problems to. TNG half of the episodes were useless. TOS is unwatchable if you judge it by modern standards. Yet i watch them all because i understand enjoy the idea of future for humanity is bright because we still fight to solve problems. That is encouraging. I think Discovery has made alot of mistakes in the beginning but as a show entering it fifth and final season they have been writing a love letter to their fans by adding to our understanding of the universe. Never forget it's not about tech but what it allow us to do and say. Clearly the point of breaking the prime directive is to say that life important and expanding people understanding can be a worthwhile cause Micheal encouraged the member of the society to embrace the growth understanding of connection with one another is just as important as the sacrifice. That was the message of the episode not we will break the prime ditective suit one needs. The warp barrier as a society point was a Vulcan idea but this does make it any less arbitrary. It was ust a line a meaningful line that federation adopted because of humanity bad experience with break but as saw in many episodes of trek breaking it doesn't guarantee failure in the society. It was a important rule to help maintain and responsible approach with interactions. The Federation and only the Federation believe this governing philosophy.

So many stupid moments in the episode. From Tilly winning a marathon to Space Jesus figuring out there was a control panel in the woods by observing mutational color changes on moss. LOL! The writers obviously don't know what a tricorder is (or don't care). The dumbest dialog goes to Tilly with the line, "It's a massive responsibility... technology." They could have easily collected the clue without once contacting these people (the clue was in a non-functional weather station). But that wouldn't have allowed us to ponder that deep thought that Tilly and Space Jesus had at the end. 🤣🤣🤣

Another season thrown in the trash. It's all about Michael Burnhan. Nothing else is explored. You don't see the interior of the Nog, Kirk, Wonder, Saturn, Voyager J class ships that were presented 2 seasons ago. Nobody knows anything about the other crew members who appear on the bridge: there are no stories to develop the characters, their past, their preferences, hobbies, fears and uncertainties, nothing. There's only room for Jesus Burnhan. All the useless dialogues, all the stories, all the miraculous solutions to all the problems, all the mysteries are hers. This makes the other characters so useless that if you remove them, they won't even be missed in the main plot. It's a one-person show. Selfish, dull. Total waste of time. It's the complete opposite of Strange New Worlds, which has excellent stories and unforgettable characters. As for Discovery, I painfully watch the episodes, skipping ahead and skipping the dialogues to see if there's anything interesting left, something genuine from Star Trek... if there's even 1% left, it's a lot.

It was clearlybexplained that the number 5 refered to the 5th climate control column. They don't have to explain ever tiny detail. The challenge was finding that clue which, once deciphered, led to an simple and uneventful recovery of the puzzle piece and clue for the next one. I thought you were assuming a lot with your preview and that your assesment was mostly wrong. That you cling to your preconceived idea is unfortunate. What saddens me is how some ST fans want everything explained when the idea is right there to see...if inly one has the easy imagination to understand the simplicity. Then there are those who complain that unnecessary explaination is given. This was a wonderful and profound episode, akin to TOS style stories... ut those screaming for that style won't ever be satisfied...DISCO or in any other ST series. My take. I do, in fact, respect yours. Just sad is all.
