This is the independent feature film Star Trek First Frontier. Feel free to download and save the film. It's impossible to tell if the powers that be are going to allow you to enjoy this, or have it removed. Hopefully, they will see a value in allowing the fans their own creative outlets in the fan films. After all, we chose Star Trek to create, it's a compliment. We were in production before the "guidelines" were announced and understand we have been "grandfathered" in, with that understanding. Please share the link with as many as you can. Please visit the Star Trek First Frontier Facebook page by searching FB for "Star Trek First Frontier".
This is the story of the initial launching of the Starship USS Enterprise NCC-1701 under the command of Captain Robert April with his wife, Commander Sarah April, the ship's first Chief Medical Officer. It's the story of a starship that needs a Captain, and a Captain that needs a starship.
"The Stars Are Not That Far" - John April to Robert April
Cast:
Robert Pralgo - Captain Robert April
Tara Ochs - Dr. Sarah April
Barry Corbin - John April

Extreme special attention to following established Star Trek canon was shown. Our intent was to add to Star Trek, not to change it. It's not ours to change. The film was made in good faith and with adoration for Star Trek.
We did our absolute best to deliver a visual experience worthy of anything bearing the name Star Trek. There are moments in the film where the visual effects may be slightly insufficient but hopefully, never distracting. I tried to eliminate any element that would remove your verisimilitude while watching. I also know of the limitations in audio in some places.
I planned to fix everything before release but the quarantine has us hit hard financially, I did what I could, I just didn't have the funds any more, having paid for the entire film myself.
The issues will be fixed soon for the Director's Edition.
Please forgive any shortcomings.
Please note: This may not appeal to you. If you would like to leave an intelligent comment as to why, please do. I am confident enough to absorb and evaluate criticism.
If you leave a hurtful, disparaging or insulting remark, I will delete it for no other reason than because I have no respect for you. This movie cost you nothing to watch but time and if you are sending me hate for it, you're probably not the type of person who is doing anything useful with that time anyway. Star Trek is about encouraging others and building them up, not taking joy in tearing them down.
For those who dislike stories set in the original series timeline, I would kindly remind you that you have at least three television series at 7 seasons each (21 seasons) set in the future timelines, The Original Series only had 5 Seasons (I count the Animated Series) and the movies. There's room for more stories here.
To those Star Trek fans who have been so incredibly kind, thank you for your encouragement and your love. Your positivity far outweighs the negative . I appreciate you immensely because I am one of you. LLAP - Kenny

Am so glad that a live-action adaptation of the initial voyage of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 under the command of Captain Robert M. April has FINALLY been produced and released! I love it! This recent era has been a very good one for classic, traditional Star Trek! Let's hope that this motion picture can serve as a pilot for an all-new series that centers on the first five-year mission of the USS Enterprise because this is the type of material that Star Trek enthusiasts have been awaiting for over half a century! Here's to FINAL FRONTIER! 🙂 P. S. It was also good to watch the USS Constitution (the first of the Constitution Class starships) in action!

Hey! Thank you for your generous comments! Captain April has fascinated me since I was a kid when I saw him on Star Trek: The Animated Series. I didn't think that I would ever see this story if I didn't make it myself lol. That's awesome that you noticed the USS Constitution, NCC-1700. You definitely know your Star Trek trivia and history! I'm glad you were able to connect with the film. Please feel free to send me any questions that you may have from the movie.

@Discodoggie True, Kirk did speak of how Pike and others had to see hundreds die due to accidents with basic systems that were now used without though or hesitation of what would or could happen if they failed. Engines exploding, crashes during docking, hulls collapsing from rapid pressure loss, plauges, people burning alive in space, finding dead crews or outposts, etc. "Nasty stuff, Jim. I don't envy Your new job as Captain. Sometimes New Life might be better left undiscovered until we are ready for it." - Pike "Sir, I'm not sure we ever will be. I'm just going to have try to keep us alive until the next shift." - Kirk (Untold Stories from Spacedock)

I'm only 20 minutes into this and love it. Someone commented what these people could do with a CBS budget. Why doesn't CBS stop working so hard to rewrite Trek and hire some of these people that are essentially working for free out of their homes pouring their hearts into these films. You could probably make a series or movie for half as much and be twice as profitable. There's a whole community out there waiting to pay to see real Trek again. Episodes that have depth and not just big action sequences with forgettable characters. Different series that build on each other and grow new characters and stories that are memorable (The Drumhead comes to mind).

This movie captures the heart of what made Star Trek: The Original Series so good, updating the human mindset 50 years or so, to make a really compelling story. While I get attempting to be true to the original show, The Next Generation really got it right sending the first officer, rather than the captain, into harm's way. It would have been nice to make that correction. The technology, of course, is limited, but that is not nearly as important as getting the screenplay right. Bravo for an unbelievably good job for a FanFiction effort. If nothing else, maybe it will help inspire better future productions. For now, it is just pure joy to watch. Excellent!

I have always been a huge nerd for any and all science fiction, that being said, I found this to be one of those that goes on my top 10 list of things done exceptionally well, you don't need huge budgets and big names for a story to be one of the best, it is very obvious that this project was done with love and care for the series as a whole, and I believe that Gene would have absolutely loved it. Never let a studio convince you to work for them unless they are 100% willing to give you every bit of artistic freedom you need to make things like this. If I were in charge at paramount, I would find you and beg you to make the next 50 years of star trek. Good job to everyone involved in this. @Tony Lewis The agreement was between CBS and the makers of Axanar to avoid going to court. CBS said this applied to all fan films. But up until now no one has called them out. The people from CBS who brought the lawsuit are gone now because of the failure of STD and STP. The worse that can happen is CBS takes them to court. But CBS would have to claim that they are suffering a loss or that the makers of First Frontier are profiting off Star Trek. In the case of Axanar, they used private funding to build sets and a sound stage. Then they rented use of that sound stage for other productions. Technically they were profiting off Star Trek. But in their defense they were trying to raise money to off set the costs of producing Axanar. I don't think CBS is going to rock the boat on this one. But it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.

Sad thing is CBS want to give us crap like the Picard, discovery, lower decks and whatever else they can push off and try to call star trek. What they call Star Trek today is nowhere near what Mr. Roddenberry‘s vision was for the show. Star Trek deserves better than the caretakers who have it today. Star Trek and Star Wars both deserve better they are both iconic franchises. They both have ment so much to so many. We can only hope that Someday and let’s hope soon, someone comes to power at CBS or Disney Who are true fans of the franchises & Hopefully Put them back where they belong. Put the focus where it should have been all along. where it once was. And where it should be going forward. The focus should be on good stories. The focus should be on the fans. The focus should be staying true to the source materials. The focus for Star Trek should be on the utopian future that it’s creator envisioned. We may never reach that. But we should strive for it. Live long and prosper.

Dickum N Lickum the V: Emperor Of RU-vid. Unless what the fans want is a good story. With well rounded and written characters. Characters with depth and reality. Not characters like Rey or Michael Burnham. Each character is either from Star Wars or Star Trek and are both shallow, not well written, bad characters. With Star Trek and the so-called offerings that are out there are just not what the franchise was based on. I know franchises grow and change over the years. Unfortunately Star Trek and Star Wars both have changed but not for the better. An example of a show/movie that has done it right is cobra Kai. Based on and containing Some of the original characters from the karate kid. This is a show that’s done well. It stays true to its source material. It respects his source material while at the same time introducing new characters and building on the narrative of the story. He has a good story writing. Good actress, and is done extremely well. Star Trek and Star Wars both can learn from this show.

It was ideological far too radical and anti-Capitalist for them to wholly back it and even worse it showed race mixing in a positive way. Awful, the advertisers were all against it in the 1960s. Lifelong Trekker here. I can find enjoyment in nearly anything Trek; even Discovery (-dodges rotten fruit-), but this was truly impressive. You have reinforced that Star Trek isn't about cool effects - it's about US. It's about people. The story is well thought out, the script is strong, and the acting, overall, is very good (Holy cow! Barry Corbin!). I confess, I was genuinely moved hearing Ms. Nichols'' opening narration. Wet eyes and everything. And again, seeing the virginal Enterprise. And again at the end. You've done, with a shoestring budget, what Kurtzman and Abrams couldn't do with hundreds of millions of space-bucks. I salute you, your crew, and your cast. Live long, and prosper. As a Star Trek fan every since the late 60's I enjoyed this Movie immensely. It really has the feel of the original Star Trek series. I only have one gripe with this movie and that is the sound level variance between the characters speaking and the special effects. When listening through an amplified surround sound system and setting the volume for the characters, then a special effect like a explosion happens and the volume of it makes you jump out of your skin. It's very fun to watch the kids jump when that happens but I'm not sure that the neighbors feel the same.

Kenny, I've been a fan of all things Star Trek since watching the debut episode, "The Man Trap" in 1966. I was 8 years old, just starting the 3rd grade. Since then, it has been my fortune to view every series and movie produced commercially. Along with countless fan films and shorts. This film is one of the best immersions into the TrekVerse a fan can experience. You bring the wonder, excitement and - lets face it - the nerd factor that Gene gave us in TOS. This is what Sci-Fi is meant to be. CBS is foolish to not use your creativity and have you on salary. Thank You for this entry into Star Trek Fan Films. Bravo, Sir! Outstanding!!

Wow! How kind of you to say! I'm pretty sure that my entire cast and crew are ready if CBS or Paramount were to ever call. If nothing else a web series would be fun! But I don't have my hopes up for it. Still, one can dream. I appreciate your very kind words.

Good to see Corbin playing Robert April's father. He's always played some great characters in other shows. This show has some top notch acting to go with the story. Well made and that signature "Motion Picture" soundtrack still gives me goosebumps when hearing it. The placement of that song and the beauty pass of the shuttle when April was coming aboard the Enterprise, reminds me of the one from the motion picture. I'm sure they paid homage to with similar scene being placed in this wonderful movie. This is something that should be a top film even if it's independently produced. Well done to the makers of this film for continuing what Gene Roddenberry started. May the Star Trek franchise live long and prosper!

Took me a few moments but i recognized his voice from War Games. "Mr. McKittric, after careful consideration I've come to the conclusion that your new defense system sucks"...lol.

My late brother introduced me to Star Trek TOS back in 1968 or 1969, when I was 5 or 6 years old and I've loved Star Trek ever since then. For a fan film created with limited financial resources, this movie is a true masterpiece, with a stellar story line and wonderful acting. It would be incredibly nice if someone could digitally remaster the audio and lower the sound level of the music and boost the dialog volumes; and then re-release it. I am very pleased with the writers, producers, directors, and actors for making this film so entertaining and relatable to the early original series; and Nichelle Nichols cameo is like icing on the cake.

This is fantastic stuff. I never even heard of this part of the Star Trek universe history. Love the part where he throws the armed device into the transporter. Nicely done, Skywalker!
