They did an amazing job on DS9, especially the interior. It doesn't feel like you're walking around in a stadium anymore. Now I really want them to fix ship interiors and make them more appropriate scale.
The exterior scaling is WAY off ships should be able to dock at the pylons yes but it shouldn’t be able to accommodate 3 sovereign class ships at once, the docking ports are the half size of the secondary haul itself
great video!! Doctor thanks for the upload. Rom was the one who became Grand Nagus & Quark at the end of the show remain on Deep Space 9 along Dr.Bashir, Lt.Ezri Dax & Col.Kira who ended up has D.S.9 Commander until Capt.Sisko return from his training with the Prophets. at the end of the series. Sisko told his wife Kassidy that he will come back in a year or so when she told him if he was dead. but he told her the prophets saved him when he jump, but he had to stay with them so they could teach him about his abilities. for the Prophets a year could be from a year to 10 or more years. lol that's what I think if there's someone who can restore & fix the original timeline after the events of First Contact where the new Star Trek Enterprise, JJVerse & Discovery timelines. it will be Capt.Sisko caused he is outside the normal time with the wormhole aliens/Prophets or has I refer Ancient Bajorans. everytime I use to logoff I love to logout from Quark's bar 3rd floor to enjoy the view. hehehe P.S I like they add the Klingon Chef from he promenade from the series where Jadzia used to loved to go eat with Worf & invite her friends.
CmdrSloanne RED ALERT, "Nerdy" correction! Actually when Cassidy asked when Ben will be back he said "It could be tomorrow or it could be yesterday." For the Prophets, "Time has no meaning" much like the Nexus, there are moments that seem like the experience of time in "Prophet Space" but since they don't have a clear understanding of Linear Time they tend to send things/people where they don't belong. Example (though it's Cryptic's interpretation) when the 100's-1000's of Dominion ships vanished in the wormhole via the Prophets when Sisko asked for interference, and came back through the wormhole in STO during the True Way arc, the lead Vorta and others had not experienced passage of time and yet still processed as if the war was still going on. Canon example, the Prophets accidentally sent the Bajoran poet Emissary to the 24th century and not his timeline which was 100's(?) of years ago, a timeline where he disappeared and didn't finish his final poem, but when he did get sent back to his propper time the Prophets preserved the events that happened, meaning both realities existed at the same time, (IN SHORT) people remember one timeline where that Bajoran had disappeared and the other where he reappeared and went back to his time and finished his final poem.
+brent Justice One minor thing you missed is if you decide to dock your ship instead of just beaming over...you spawn in the docking port area instead of the transporter room which is a nice touch imo Also, tinniest of spoilers, a couple of those baseball teams you see banners for get a throw away reference in one of the new episodes so keep an ear out.
on the subject of lighting models, i agree. several missions and some of the bridge models that we players use can u similar updates, like the ones from the c store, and the dyson style bridges. however, i dont fully expect that to actually happen.
I’m currently on season 4 of DS9 so I’m glad I got to get some perspective on what the inside looks like. It reminds me of a very very large shopping mall.
The reason you couldn't see in those windows in the actual show was because they used an actual model for every shot if ds9 we ever saw in screen. The only time we ever saw a cgi ds9 was the last shot in the show. The final scene were Kira and Jake are watching the wormhole and it zooms out to apace and the credits roll was the only time the cgi model was ever used
i generally like the new look of DS9 a lot, the only thing i find a bit irritating is the clutter of NPC´s in the bank / exchange half the number would have been fine, but it is a minor detail compared to the rest of the redesign which is very detail accurate compared to the tv-show
It did seem a bit crowded at both the bank/exchange and ship areas. I think someone mentioned on the forums that the max amount of players in an instance was reduced, likely in an effort to try to reduce the crowd somewhat.
its the number of NPC´s i find a bit to much there are so many that they clip together and have a hard time to even just move, i find the rest of the station´s NPC number adequate
OPS is half the size of a sovereign class ship, that’s almost 400 meters, in the show ops was maybe 100 meters total, the sizing scale should’ve followed the defiant being able to dock on the ring and 1 galaxy class ship being able to dock at any one time on the pylons
One of the funny things is the old STO DS9 would actually be more size realistic to what DS9 should actually be like based on it's actual sizing. Remember DS9 is over a 1.5km in diameter, this makes the Promenade alone bigger than any airport terminal on earth. The show because it was limited by sets and studio space could never actually show DS9 to size accuracy look up photos of the incheon airport terminal and I think that gives a more realistic size to what DS9 should have looked like, where as the TV show makes the Promenade look like a tiny strip mall not even the size of your average shopping center. Still prefer the more show accurate with the expansion, but I would like to see someone actually do DS9 back to what the old concept art made it look like where it had insane scale (even had a monorail that went around the promenade)
The Fed-Tutorial and first missions have been slightly redesigned too. Captain Nog and his Chimera take the place of the Renown and its Captain. (Some voiceovers have been kept. Small mistake) Captain Geordi LaForge comes to the rescue in "Diplomatic Orders". And P'Jem looks better too. I have started a Cardassian in Starfleet. I just got to this point. So there might be more changes ahead. The changes I have seen, will make the immersion for Trekkies better than before. Is it necessary? No. Is it nice? Yes.
One of the con of the new map is the lost of Pag, my favourite shady Ferengi business partner, I always sell my stuffs to Pag whenever I was at DS9. Now they put him in the brig and the replacement is some Orion standing behind a round window, at least Pag was decent enough to have his own kiosk. I miss Pag and the mumbles of his views against the laws..
I've played through the first mission and some of the cutscenes was really good. However, I came across a bug as my A.I crew were unable to follow me much
Landing Party AI has always been somewhat questionable, especially when it comes to pathing, but you're definitely right about the problems with it in the first mission. Other than the difficulty in simply trying to get more than one or two to actually follow me, I think my guys had too much coffee before the mission because they had a bad tendency of suddenly hopping all over the place and falling off the gantry never to be seen again. The only thing that saved me in the final ground battle was a couple of abilities to call in some sort of reinforcements. It definitely spoiled an otherwise enjoyable mission.
too many of mine must've been hitting the shots of vodka too hard and only a few if mine actually came along. I got through the mission only dying once or twice
Qo'nos needs a major overall . The map is badly designed and badly lit . Considering its the home of a major faction in game it should really be next on the list .
Was gonna say the same thing, it's so annoying having to run so goddamn far. Putting a bank terminal in the shipyard helped a tiny bit but First City needs some real work.
It is sadly really how neglected Qo'nos has been since Drozana, ESD, and now DS9 all received updates, I am going to hope they are planing to redesign Qo'nos when Martok with REDACTED in his hands decide to challenge J'mpok as Chancellor of the High Council which I think were STO is heading
The Klingon story missions also really need some work at least on console, during the delta recruit stuff I tried making a Klingon but I couldn't get through the prison mission because Alexander never appeared at the end of the tunnel and I even tried restarting the mission multiple times and it never worked
So weird watching you wander the promenade in the “previous” version and noticing it’s way smaller inside than it appears from the outside. It should be a bigger diameter ring inside. The bar looks a little big somehow though. Lol. Ok, time to watch the “new” version. (Maybe I should go back to this game again?) (Edit): ok now looking at the new version. It does look more authentic. Quark’s bar looks better for sure. Wondering if it has the holo-suites? The scale of the rooms looks more correct to the show for sure. The promenade still bothers me though because it’s so small compared to what it should be from the outside. I know it’s not the outer ring. It’s in that center hub. But it’s still too small. It’s smaller on the inside than the enterprise is and it should be bigger. Also, I know on the show they really never showed the habitation ring, but I’d love to see that explored. The station is insanely huge. It’s an opportunity to explore what it might be like in the rest of the station.
Pretty cool to see the comparison, however.. after the fact I wish you had dusted off Rommie Summers with her Defiant class and used her to fly around DS9... 😢 Sadly both you and (name-drop) Zef from Zefilms didn't do the obvious, which is use the Defiant class when showing off the NEW propper DS9. Sure I could when I eventually get an Xbox One and play STO, but for now I want to experience the cool things via other players I like viewing through.
Wow, that new model is so much better than the first one. It was so oversized. That said, DS9's exterior is still too large. There's no way the Enterprise-E should be that small in comparison. Look at how the Enterprise-D scaled in the first episode. Or in one season 5 episode, the Defiant flies parallel to one of the docking columns and the width of that ship runs the entire length of the docking pylon...
Just a question. I got this problem. Cant activate my suit on the misson: "Tenebris Torquent" in two different days. I have done the mission before twice and even so, nothing. Any advise?
I would like them to do new interiors of the Constitution refit,Sovereign class and the Enterprise D bridge from Star Trek Generations. And bring back Ezri Dax!
I had forgotten what ds9 looked like before. The interior actually really sucks now compared to the old style. The promenade is si tiny now. The outside looks much better now but definitely not the promenade.
DS9 is too small for MMO game,if Sto was Sp game all will be good but it is just too crowded+ lag, changing instances for better fps.Sukks. I like the design but somebody f up really good here. You need space for all npc +players this looks like some market in Middle East(you can't move without bumping into people and things ).i think Cryptic/devs wanted to pander to DS9 fans and forgot this is an MMO.There is no enuf space for all.I rather have 7-8 new episodes for Jem Hadar faction then new DS9.
