So sad. they were going to reopen it at the Neopolis Mall but that fell thru & the Props were auctioned off in 2009. On the bright side I was just at the Westgate (Formerly the Hilton) a few weeks ago and the Interior of the experience still looks just about the same , they use the space to sell time shares now. It's on my channel if you wanna see
Unfortunately I got into Star Trek back in 2013, way after they closed The Experience. It hurts every time i hear of all the fun things you could do there. Though hopefully with the success of Disney's Galaxy's edge and the resurgence of Star Trek in media, we might see the Experience come back in one way or the other #bringbackStarTrektheExperience
It was definitely a blast, and when we heard that they were closing it, we knew that we HAD to go before it went away. If it was still there, I'd have been back to Vegas multiple times. But since it's not, I haven't been back since.
In 2001, my girlfriend and I visited this place and joked about how it would be a fantastic location for a themed wedding. Two years later, we made that joke a reality and tied the knot there (still married). We visited five times, despite living 2,000 miles away. Last month, during its final month of operation, we brought our children back to bid farewell, and they also added their mark to the wall of loyalty. The actors who roamed around to enhance the immersion deserve high praise. Although our kids, now adults, don't remember our Disney trip, they still fondly recall meeting the actors at The Experience, which speaks volumes.
i went so many times as a kid, my aunt was VIP at the hilton. and me and my lil brother went on both rides the walk through and the 4D. the arcade there was great also, not the biggest but just enough for my mom to let us go down as kids while she was upstairs. the hilton was a great hotel right off the strip.
Wonderful video! Loved ST:TE. I remember waiting in line for the ride and a Klingon approached me from behind and startled the heck out of me while I was looking at the Klingon displays. He asked me, "Are you handy with the blade human?" I was dumbfounded and just looked at him in amazement. I didn't even reply. I couldn't find the words. : ) After the bridge sequence and while they were taking us to the next room, I touched one of the buttons on the rear console and a crew member said, "I'm sorry sir, your DNA isn't programmed into the computer." Loved it! Then went to Quarks and ordered the huge green Borg Sphere drink and got a wonderful buzz from it. Got a communicator keychain and left with an unforgettable ST/ Vegas experience. Thanks for refreshing the memories Mike!
It's just a shame that they closed it down. I'd heard rumors that it was going to re-open in another location on the strip somewhere, but I've never heard if it ever did.
I first went in 98, they use to have slot machines in the area, but when I went back a few years later they were gone, I was told by someone when I asked where they went that the Nevada gaming commission made them remove them, too many kids wound up playing which is pretty serious for the casino. Wish they brought it back, I miss quarks bar.
+Will Lee Thanks, I only got to go once, and I made it a point of going once I heard they were closing but I'd surly love to go again if it was still out there.
The last thing I'd read was that the company that had the rights had waited so long and delayed it so many times that they'd lost the rights. So maybe someone else has now obtained them.
Oh my God!! Haven't been there since 2006 but I have such great memories. Really loved hanging out and talking with people. LOVED Klingon Encounter, went on it several times. Las Vegas Hilton. Wow. Long time ago.
@@31Mike The main reason I even went to Las Vegas was for Star Trek: The Experience. That feeling of walking up to the exhibit and seeing the Enterprise, Bird of Prey, and Voyager was beyond words. 🖖 I'm a metalhead AND a Trekkie.
DS9 was (is) my favorite Star Trek show, so eating at Quarks was fun. So was the tour of the Enterprise, really cool. I've heard that there have been plans to re-open it in various locations (in Vegas), but nothing yet.
@@31Mike TNG is my favourite for sure. It grew on me...but S1 wasn't my cup of tea. So whenever I saw Riker without a beard I knew to avoid that particular episode. 😅 As for films, The Voyage Home, First Contact, and the Search for Spock...though the Undiscovered Country was great too, mainly because General Chang was AMAZING. I miss the Duras sisters. Seriously, they were hilarious.
@@melanienattefrost2447 I grew up on TOS, when season 1 of TNG came out, I was 18 and really excited to see what they were going to do. So when it first aired, I thought it was great. Now, so many years later and having binged every season so many times over the years, I tend to skip most of the first two seasons. It's almost the same with the other series, too, though. At least with the first seasons. If you've never watched DS9 all the way through, in a 'binge' sort of way, you should give it a shot. Unlike the other series, DS9 was more serialized as opposed to stand alone episodes. For me, the greatest episode of any Trek series is DS9's "In The Pale Moonlight". An absolutely great episode, but you do need the context of the overall story to really get the full impact of it.
Was allways on of my bucket list items to go over to the USA (still not done it) and visit vegas and the star trek experience! such a shame its now gone even though there were plans afoot to have it re opens somewere else that sadly never happened ! ..with the resurgence of star trek ..the reboot films and all the new series such as strange new worlds, discovery, Picard and the animated ones lower decks and prodigy ect you would think they would again do something like this in vegas or somewhere else!
I was disappointed tha they never re-opened it, too and had always wanted to get out there to see it. So when I got the news of them closing it, I made sure to make the trek. As big of a Trekkie as I am, I wasn't all that happy with the reboot movies. So much potential, but unrealized in the name of making it 'alternate' universe. As for the other new shows, I've always intended on checking them out, but always heard bad things about them and just never got around to it.
It's definitely hard to believe that it was 11 years ago that I went. I went specifically because it was going to be closing. It was a really cool attraction, and was supposed to re-open elsewhere in Vegas, but of course hasn't (yet).
Same here. I'm not a gambler (I gambled a grand total of $1 while I was there) and I don't care about the shows that they have at the various places but I'd have been back multiple times had they not closed this attraction down.
Yeah, when I saw that it was going to close down, we decided that we had to make the trip out there before the end came. Had to see it at least once. If it had remained there all these years, we'd have gone back multiple times because it was a lot of fun.
+Loretta Burnell You're welcome. It was a cool attraction, I was sorry to see it go but when I heard that it was closing, I had to get out there to see it and I'm glad I did. Very cool experience.
@@31Mike Oh thanks so much for sharing anyway. Do you have any video of the convention tion in Vegas that year? I was there during the convention that year so around the same time you were I just didn't film any thing unfortunately..
I watched the 2009 movie and thought it was ok, though I really didn't like the 'alternate universe' aspect. I watched about 30 minutes of the one after that, and couldn't finish it. As for the new series, I haven't watched any of it yet.
Sorry about that. Some of that was because they told me that I couldn't record, but seeing as they were shutting down, I wanted to keep recording. So I hit record and carried the camera down by my side, as if I was just carrying the camera and not recording. So the shakiness is unfortunate, but is what it is. If I had the same video editing software back then that I have now, I'd have been able to stabilize the video, but I didn't.
Took pics inside the Star Trek bathroom when it was still there. Now I know how you Go in the Future. In space, no one can hear you...Never Mind. Anyway after they closed it, there was no real reason to go to the Hilton anymore and after that it was bought by Westgate and there's still no reason to go there. Oh Well.
It's been a while since I've watched this video (and a decade since I shot it lol), is that in reference to the diaper that was on display? I have a recollection that I couldn't remember who it 'belonged' to while I was filming. But I remembered later, I don't know if I remembered while the camera was on or not though.
