This has actually hit home for me. After living far away from my family, losing my kids (nasty seperation) i seem to have lost all purpose in my life. Though for the few hours between getting home from work till i fall asleep i watch tng and voyager, those feelings seem to disappear when trek is on. Perhaps the point you make is the reason for it. I only got into trek in the last 5 years so in no way could it be the feeling of reminiscence of better times.

Star Trek TNG is a life changing show if anyone is willing to spend time to watch it. To my dad who needed to learn english, TNG provided the most clearest dialogue and the most accurate grammar to date. He was not a fan of the show, but used it as a learning tool. So that was great. For me, I learned Sci-fi for the first time by watching TNG. They expanded the thought of the human capacity and made you think and consider who we are and what we can become/accomplish.

They came by once to eat some fresh cut sushi around 8 years ago. was a chef at a restaurant. a few months later Brent Spiner arrives at a pizza store I used to do deliveries. he drove a very long early 80s car. he seemed very scared. a few weeks later, Sir Patrick Stewart visits the same pizza store with a grand British style suit with a smile. all those moments, I thought of them oddly. but was glad to see them.

I’ve seen a lot of these conventions..At first Marina was a bit much, then, kinda punk rock...seeing the way this video started...that’s why Marina is awesome. She is the only, and I mean ONLY one who would make a scene to help those people in the audience, at the sake of embarrassing herself. That’s why she keeps showing up, rocking the house, and the other actors love it, trust me...just finished the video...the story about Dorn? My point again. People like her fuck shit up in a good way, gotta respect that. She literally helped save him hours every time in that make up chair, only she would do that, everybody just minds their business and is too scared to help.

As a retired disabled veteran, that brought a tear to see the actors share there heartfelt appreciation, not just for one brave soldier, but for all veterans and military worldwide, as well to the family and friends who also sacrifice to support us. I can’t even count how many times people have shook my hand, given a pat on the back and a warm thank you for my service, not to mention how people stepped aside to let me to the front of a checkout line or strangers who told me my money was no good here and paid for my coffee and meals when I was in uniform, ones that saw me walking on a side walk and offered a ride, to all the caring and selfless people who go out of there way to show there support and appreciation, you are my hero’s! Thank you for all you do for all us soldiers.

The Next Generation anchored our Saturday evenings as my wife and I moved into our thirties with family surrounding us. I cannot recall missing (either seeing them live or taped for later on our VCR; remember those?) any episodes in that era of their original broadcast. That I look back and see the start of the show was 27 years ago I certainly become very nostalgic and completely understand the still-powerful draw of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Steady-on, Star Trekkers.

Never been to a convention, so I wouldn't know if anyone ever noticed-- Rodenberry's ship crews were virtually devoid of narcissism. A common vision and purpose brought everyone together. Characters that didn't know each other very well would be there for each other in a pinch because they all shared the same ideals. Even the asocial or timid were supported, encouraged, tutored. Complete opposite of what is often found in U Tube comment sections. Can't make the world of Star Trek a living reality treating each other that way. Isn't the world of civil harmony, like in Insurrection what captivates the fans?
@Scripture-Man
@Scripture-Man 7 лет назад
Yes, it's not warp travel and transporters that are the real fiction, the real fiction is the idea that mankind could one day stop being so evil. Unfortunately, that is impossible for man to achieve. No matter how hard humans try, they just can't overcome the evil that is in everyone. However, I am here to proclaim that there _is_ as way for sinful humans to be made good: through the Gospel of Jesus Christ… One day there _will_ be a society of good, noble human beings, very similar to Star Trek, only even nicer. It is called the Realm of God (also known as the Kingdom of God). The humans who live in this Realm will all be men and women who have repented of their former evil ways, and followed after Jesus Christ, and been born again, made into new people. These people will rise from the dead and receive new, immortal bodies and live forever with Jesus. That is a true hope, not fiction. I know Jesus, He has come into my life and spoken to me and He has set me free from the horrible sin I used to be in. I am a completely changed man, free from evil thoughts and motivations. Christ set me free from the grip that sin had over me. Now I am able to be good, and I would fit in perfectly with the characters on the Enterprise. That is the kind of place where I am heading: not into Starfleet, but into a future community of good, saintly people who have all been forgiven of their former mistakes and granted the power to overcome both sin and death and live forever in glory. Being part of the Realm of God is even better than being in Starfleet :) But folks, please beware of "church" - it is a false religion established by Satan. Religion does not save people, nor does belonging to a church. Instead, read the Gospel of John and follow after *Jesus* and talk to Him. That's all I did, in my bedroom, and real miracles started happening in my life. But the process of salvation cannot begin without repentance over what we have done wrong. Finding our way into the Realm of God is not about improving our lives, it's about one worthless life ending and a new, much better one beginning, through the indwelling Spirit of God who changes men into new people. If anyone would like more info, please subscribe to my channel where I am shortly going to be sharing some videos covering the essential truths of salvation in Jesus Christ. Best wishes and God bless you. :)

10:40 I only just realized that Denise Crosby was on the stage. lol When i heard them say Denise, i was like wtf? I was expecting to see her come out the backstage, apologizing for being late or something.

My favorite episode of TNG is The Neutral Zone, last episode of season 1. It was the one where data finds frozen people in space & Dr. Crusher brings em back to life.

Marina Sirtis and Gates McFadden are both heroes among that cast. Marina for clearing the sight lines, Gates for leading the charge down to acknowledge that soldier. They are carrying the torch with honor. Magnificent.

I know Denise probably gets paid well for her time but she must feel like a spare wheel for a lot of these panels.

I think she realized that she screwed up big time and is trying to do her best to fix something she feels bad about. However, I think a lot of fans see her as a spare wheel.
@GooglyEyedJoe

I think what didn't help her was Natasha Yar was like Ensign Ro Laren and Major Kira, those strong independent 'I don't need no man' types that all had insecurities and were all fairly unpopular characters compared with their respective casts and so that coupled with the fact she left early dampened her fan base in Star Trek TNG although I personally think she was a lot better as Romulan Commander Sela than as Natasha Yar.
