As punishment for ignoring their warning and trespassing on their planet, the Melkot condemn Capt. Kirk and his landing party to the losing side of a surreal recreation of the 1881 historic gunfight at the OK Corral.
"That episode was a case of necessity being the mother of invention; we had overspent on the preceding episodes, and our budget was limited. So they had to come up with a set they could build easily and quickly, and the fact that the whole show dealt with illusion made the use of facades very advantageous. 9/10. I really liked this one! Kinda time-travel, kinda near parallel earth theme. Mind over matter ending, the weird red sky and partial "sets". All makes for an enjoyable episode.

Best episode, divorce Kelly played in a movie called shootout at the OK corral he played in one of the good guys now on Star Trek's version he plays one of the bad guys as a little touch of irony for you 😂
i love the part in this episode where Kirk tries to explain to vigil & Wyatt earp that he is not ike clanton but they refuse to listen to him then vigil punches Kirk & Kirk grabs his arm twisting it behind his back & Wyatt earp tells Kirk to draw but vigil tells his brother no Wyatt let me when the time comes I'll pay him for this.
That Earp was quick to hit Kirk in the face when they meet. However, during the final battle, now without the aid of his guns, that Earp was shaking like a leaf after Kirk beat the tar out of him!!!! Even after Kirk lets him go he does attack Kirk again!!!!
I always liked the way the Earps and especially Doc Holliday were portrayed in this vs. other movies/shows. They were colder, harder, and more realistic. Val Kilmer may have been funny as Holliday in the movies....but I never took that seriously. You really feel the contempt for the cowboys in this.
