I love that Ewan is the only one who has been in Star Wars long enough to feel comfortable being a little bitchy about his toy 🤣 he's had hundreds made of him already so he can critique, everyone else was just excited
or maybe because the obi-wans from kenobi weren't so good. then again cal from the first game looks nothing like cameron. maybe they're just excited to see merch of themselves
that’s because, humble people appreciate the effort and artistry that goes into making a figure like this. You say “face printing”, but there’s actually an incredible artist named Paul Bennett who does incredible work, who sculpts these figure portraits , It’s “funny” to say “it doesn’t look like me” etc because there’s a lack of respect for the craft. This would be like Ewan playing a role in a movie, and showing the real living person the film, and they say “that doesn’t seem like me!”. After studying the character and working hard I’m sure Ewan would be crushed. Most people have the decency not to say that, but mocking the sculptor behind the little incredible pieces of art work that these figures are, is perfectly acceptable. Funny how that works.
@@juanjunior10 “cry me a river” sorry speak to anything I wrote, I’m not “crying”, I’m pointing out the irony of what is acceptable to criticize and what is not. You’re babbling about the figures likenesses as if i’m arguing the Kenobi portrait was accurate. Reading comprehension.
For me, an action figure would be a life milestone. Somewhere between marriage, birth of kids, and winning an Oscar. Actually I don’t think an Oscar would measure up.
I think it would be criminal to never make something live action with Cal , Cameron is a great screen actor and why else would they make him look so identical to the voice actor
I didn't know that she had other voice modulations than whispering loudly and shouting. I think what didn't work for me with the character is that she did not get a single proper Lightsaber battle where she was allowed to kick ass and show off her skills. At no point was i concerned for Obi-Wan if she had actually managed to confront him. She needed to feel like Darth Maul, where you are scared not because she is a bully, cutting off some civilian's hands, but because she is skilled in a fight with other combatants on her own level. Give her an actual fight the guy they ended up hanging on Tatooine, make him a decent fighter and give us a good one-on-one where we get to see Reva actually fight someone worth fighting, where we can go WOAH at her skills. ...But no, she gets a cheap backstab in on the GI, they try so hard to make her LOOK menacing... by posing and shouting... but she never feels like more than a Bully with a red glow stick. If Obi Wan didn't want to avoid everything that follows, i have no doubt he'd beat her on the first battle. He fought and won against General Grievous on his own for crying out loud... Grievous would cut Reva down in 15 seconds. Heck, Asajj Ventress would eat her for lunch. At no point was i concerned she might have a shot against Obi-Wan. ...and when she fights Vader, that feeling was confirmed. Also, action figures are always cooler with a Helmet, give her a Helmet, she can take it off (like the Second Sister did half way through JFO), but if you show up in your custom Vader Cosplay, you gotta have a helmet that goes along with it. Same goes for Moff Gideon by the way, dude doesn't even wear a Helmet when making High G maneuvers in a Tie Fighter... i mean come on, those things have functionality they aren't just there to make you look cool.
I disliked her character at first too, and a lot of it had to do with the performance. But then when you find out that the character is putting on an act, it starts to make more sense.
Ewan’s reaction was 100% on point for him. I remember an interview of his about Phantom Menace and his first reaction to seeing his face up on a billboard the first time was “they used an image from the reshoots with that ugly wig” 😂
Thanks for sharing this video with us. Seeing the actors respond to their figures was interesting. Always appreciate what you do for us Luke thanks again, Tom
I feel like most of these celebrities under appreciate action figures. They keep calling them “dolls” and don’t seem to be very happy about the likeness even though action figures are a HUGE part of SW identity since 1977 but I get where they’re coming from. Having any representation of you must be weird for the simple fact that human faces are extremely intricate and complex not even scans or digital renders can compare to the real thing. It’s cool seeing Daisy, Moses and Cal’s actor really appreciating their figures for what they are but I also feel sorry for Felicity Jones, her figure sucked 😂
“Scans or digital renders cant compare to the real thing.” Idk about that, have you seen those new episode ll Anakin and Padmé figures. I’m pretty sure Hayden and Natalie would be shocked at how similar the figures look to themselves.
What a gem, thank you for sharing. It would of been great if you could of shown Harrison Ford's reaction to his Hot Toys figure which he destroys live on air!
I always found this so funny about collecting movie figures. Not only do you have the figure of that character, but you also have the figure of that actor xD
not BS related but the Best one gotta be Paul Rudd and his Ant Man Figure with Conan . " YOU LOOK LIKE A JACKA$$ " . I Laughed very loud seeing that interview
What Ewan McGregor said is true, sometimes the model looks perfect in the screen, but when you 3D print it, it doesn't look the same, specially at that scale. I have tried to model and print some characters and it's really difficult to get the likeness. Great compliation bro! new subscriber!
@@juanworkshoplatino yeah paint apps can make all the difference but Hot Toys are known for their good paint jobs. They've done 2 Obi-Wans and neither are their best work.
bro i'm not gonna lie, my envy is without bounds. i don't care for 99% of disneys star wars content, and i won't be buying any of the names character figures myself, but how fucking cool for the actors! Not only to be part of Star Wars, but then to have your own action figure made in your likeness? Yo that has just got to be the coolest feeling lol.
I mean, when you see your face on a plastic figurine and the box says "Star Wars", there's not many honors bigger than that. A massive brand that not everybody has seen, but everyone on earth has at least heard of
If I could be an actor and have the priviledge of having an action figure of myself, my reaction would be like "yeah looks cool, I already have it 20 times"
3:53 Woah! I had no idea Jerome/Joker was in Star Wars! Or one of the guys from Six Feet Under, if you're into that show. As a major OG Star Wars fan, I just couldn't place them in one of the fifteen hundred Star Wars things that's happened since disney took over.
I remember watching all of these when they first showed up and Moses (3rd sister) seems the most wholesome reaction especially considering all the hate the "fans" gave her
Please don't buy into that fake toxic fan narrative that the media has manufactured. She did maybe get 0.0000001% of the harassment that Gina Carano got for not wanting to put pronouns in her Twitter Bio. Where was the media outcry then? Where was the Disney Twitter marketing employee making "we stand with her" statements then? Friendly reminder that Disney is the same company that hid Chadwiks Boseman's FACE from the Black Panther Movie Poster in China and hid Finn in the Background for the Chinese market posters.... THAT is systemic racism worth fighting. Some Troll in his moms basement with a Keyboard mouthing off on Twitter... who gives a f*ck? The same fucks that came after Gina Carano came after Rosario Dawson, and just recently after Mark Hamill... and god knows how many others... the same that are complaining that the Bad Batch are TOO WHITE. These types of people are not worth catering to, they don't care about you or your product, they only care to find the next thing to target and attack.
And in Ewan’s clip we can also find a joke that’s been ran into the ground on Instagram, lol. Great vid, love seeing these people react to figures of themselves, Diego was especially hilarious for me!
I think Bill Burr was holding back on his feelings there. His bald head went kinda red as he started joking around. I never cared for Burr but his performance was fucking amazing and he deserved his place in star wars history... even after he made fun of star wars fans for years.
I collect star trek action figures, but whenever they make an action figure of the cooking show host from the Holiday Special I'll buy that in a heartbeat.
I think they should be very very honored to have a action figure after them I'd rather have an action figure after myself then any kind of Emmy Award or Super Bowl ring or whatever
think i have the most respect for the reva actress, and ewan, do not care how famous you are, or ego level, or money income, you join the star wars universe and or tvc, your on new levels, even tho tech. i could have a figure of me, but helmets
