There are hackers, I've had experiences similar to yours - only the part about hackers getting out of the map. It sucks but there's hackers for every game so it was bound to happen sooner or later. I don't understand cheating at a video game, it just diminishes the player base and before you know it the game is dead. I'm just happy that this game was loved so much in its time that people continue to play it several years later.
