Star Wars: Battlefront II - Death Stars in their Eyes

Are people rushing to the dislike button so fast that they miss that literally the first thing I say in the video is that EA sucks, I'm glad the game's failed horribly, and the multiplayer is a microtransaction-y garbage fire? C'mon folks - give me a little credit here - I hate all that BS too.

To everyone disliking the video without watching - a) Jon didn't buy the game b) Jon complains about the multiplayer and microtransactions c) Jon complains about other parts of the game too. So, stop childishly disliking without watching and either watch the damn thing or just ignore it. Don't punish Jon for what EA did.

I hear there's this niche indie game called "KOTOR" that you may wish to spend some time investigating...

If you want a good Star Wars game with a great campaign you should play Star Wars Empire at War, its like a Total War game but Star Wars related.

Looking at the amount of dislikes for this video, I have to say, if people really want to go after EA for all the bad and frankly questionable decisions they've made as a company, ACTUALLY GO AFTER EA. EA does not care how many dislikes you pump into Jon's video. If you don't like the game, don't buy it. Certainly don't go after content creators like Jon who just wanted to make an entertaining video. Especially when Jon complains about that very thing in the video.

Are people disliking the video and leaving before the first 10 seconds when Jon says he hates EA and the terrible micro transactions?

when people watch the video to dislike it - it still counts as a view, which counts as support. so for all those watching specifically to dislike instead of just ignoring, i'm sure EA thanks u for your support... we're watching Jon, not EA...

All this sneaky-stabby got me thinking; what this gen needs is a good Splinter Cell. .... although you could argue last gen was lacking in that department, too. What I wouldn't give for a proper modern follow up to Chaos Theory.

Ironic, because I have afriend who said "who buys the game fir it's campaign? All that matters s the multiplayer function.". Personally, I am a fan of in-game campaigns or custom battles/scenarios (such as in Rome I and Medieval II).

The "hold to change 1st/3rd person" not being explained was probably due to the selected control scheme being that for space vehicles.

Has anyone even watched the video or are you all just on the hate bandwagon without giving Jon, Jon! Not EA a chance? He doesn't agree with EA and their micro transactions, he's only playing the campaign for that reason.

They aren’t sonic screwdrivers Jon, they’re code cylinders - they grant access to areas, and higher ranking officers carry more of them. A 1970s futuristic thing that still looks kinda cool, so they keep them around 🙂

so in star wars battlefront 2 (the original ones), there is an entire bonus game mode, of storm troopers vs ewoks. one team is stromtroopers with rifles and grenades, and the other is ewoks with spears and rocks. then you go at it. it is super fun. (there is also a game mode where one team plays as clones of jar jar binks who have no weapons, and the other team is super battle droids.)

the Rebel Alliance made it one of their core principles to avoid deadly unsecured walkways at any cost... unsafe working conditions were one of the things they were rebelling against in the first place

This is "a story from the empire's perspective". *Spoiler* Idan switches sides on the third mission leaving you to fight the empire from the rebellion's perspective. So not only did EA not include a fun single player in their first SWBF, they follow it up with lies.

I don't see how it's so hard to make a good Battlefront game. Like just re-release the first two Battlefront games.

Oh your gonna love the rest. The Buggy vehicle section's, the fighting Literal bugs on a planet with a light saber. Oh and the big twist, You Join The Rebel's! (after assassinating who knows how many of them, you become the hero)

Episode 6 timing iirc: Luke brought before the Emperor. The rebels break in to the shield generator, and then get caught by the reinforcements. Rebel fleet arrives, it's a trap. Luke continues to be goaded. Ewoks attack the Imperials. Death Star II destroys two rebel cruisers. The fleet engages the Star Destroyers at point blank range. Luke loses it for a moment and the fight begins. Rebels and Ewoks overwhelm most of the Imperials on the ground, and they trick the bunker into opening it's doors. The shield is down, commence attack on the Death Star. Darth Vader reads Luke's feelings about his sister, Luke nearly falls to the dark side. Emperor begins torturing him, Vader throws him into the shaft. Rebel fighters infiltrate the superstructure. (From the book, the fleet begins launching it's reserve fighters to swarm into the superstructure and pursue the fighters). Rebel fleet concentrates fire on the (from book, already damaged from a bomber strike pre-shield drop lead by the Falcon) SSD, and it, (book, already headed in to blockade the fleet from attacking the Death Star directly) is trapped in the Death Star's gravity well and crashes nose first into it. Death Star is destroyed by Red and Gold leaders.

A campaign made up of missions with waves of enemies is basically a defining feature of DICE games since at least the original Bad Company. It's terrible game design, but at this point not expecting it is like not expecting one of their games to involve guns.

I 'liked' the video because I actually watched it, rather than just reacted to it.

Right... to all the folks whining about this (I'd hoped we were past this but here we go again....). 1) Jon STARTS the video basically saying 'hahaha suck it EA you got what you got what you deserved'. 2) The game is actually good. 99% of all the complainers have not actually PLAYED it and are just bitching because of the microtransaction farce (which was a disgrace yes). 3) Currently microstransactions have been removed from the game entirely. They may be back in future but theyre not there now. 4) if you put that aside the games multiplayer is alot of fun and the single player is short but actually pretty damn good. Is it the best ever, no but its certainly one of the better Star Wars games weve had in years. I hate what EA tried to do here (and frankly have been doing for years) but that doesnt meant the game isn't actually good, this kind of badndwagon behaviour is why we didnt get any DLC for Mass Effect Andromeda and so on.

Why does the "Elite Stormtrooper Squad" wear pilot armour? Shouldn't they be wearing Dark Trooper power armour or Shadow Trooper armour? Why would they wear probably the least protective Stormtrooper armour?

EA's Battlefront is a pox upon the original Battlefront franchise and Star Wars alike. They rebooted something that was good enough by itself. Battlefront 2 (Classic) was the first real game I ever played and was the foundation of my childhood. How dare they take something that was great and turn it into a marketing scheme?! Pandemic is rolling in it's grave.

The thing that pissed me off the most about BF2s campaign was just the false advertrising they did. EA agressively pushed that this was the story of the bad guys and you'd be playing the Empire Literally on the Third mission you turn into a Zealous Rebel Commando that hates the Empire. WHich frankly ruined the plot

You have to be careful says Jon after being flanked for 15 seconds by 2 guys with automatic rifles and being shot by a heavy repeating blaster that only does 11 damage per hit. So the enemies have crap accuracy and shit damage. Also as you see later, stealth is basically impossible for 90% of the game with you mostly being thrown directly into fire fights that have already started and the rest having your cover blown by followers. Also guns in the star wars universe have never and will never use heat sinks instead of ammo. They have always had ammo, mostly in the form of tibana gas, and heat sinks to deal with heat from the blaster bolt

okay wtf people, why is everyone going off on jon for doing a 28 minute review of this game when jessy cox is doing a full on monetized playthrough and the worst comment on the video is telling them they are misnaming the bloody starships. and all you talking about boycotting EA realize that there are a lot of games under EA's umbrella. so no mass effect, no Baldur's gate, no kotor 1 or 2, no swtor, and that's just biowere not to mention the many MANY other developers owned by EA as well.
