Star Wars Black Series Stormtrooper Helmet Review and Comparison

I've never heard of nor seen the paper wrapping you received, but the Artillery Stormtrooper helmet I bought from them did come with only the dome piece apart like your Stormtrooper's did. Hey, Quietkid! Thanks for asking and I try to reply to ALL my comments. This is a great helmet for the price, and I appreciate the kind words about the review video. Unfortunately, this helmet was initially release close to seven or eight years ago now, and when you run across stock somewhere on Amazon, it's because of a newly-found back catalog, or a limited re-issue. The rest you find are people who picked them up new, saved them, and are now re-selling them, usually at a steep profit. That's a long way to go to tell you that the only place you might find one of these ready to ship right now is somewhere like eBay or other local vintage/small toy shops that have snagged one from somewhere and are now selling it. That's why it's so magnificent that Hasbro is doing this re-release, because otherwise these are super-hard to find at a decent price. As for the lenses, I know of no reliable way to darken the plastic in them. However, you can buy darker plastic from various sources, like welding supply stores, cut a new, darker lens, take the helmet apart, and install a darker lens. This is obviously a fairly involved process, but if you watch a couple videos of other customizing these, take your time, and are patient, you can install a different lens. Amen to that! Missed this first time around but I have the Kylo Ren which has the same 'visually impressive' but don't look too close build quality. Looking at the Darth Vader V2 and now the forthcoming Scout Trooper helmet, they've really upped their game on the fit and finish of these helmets. Hopefully they'll revisit this stormtrooper helmet and make the necessary improvements to interior finish and move the voice speaker grill to front, lots of places they can conceal it here without ruining the visual appeal of the design

I can't argue with that, Ricky. Despite it's flaws, for the price, the Hasbro helmet is a really great buy. It's sturdy, displays well, fits on my head and doesn't break the bank. Thanks for checking the video out!

Luke! Yeah.... the statue was a "grail piece" that I had wanted for decades. So it was worth the one time. It was hilarious when it was delivered because it came in a literal PALLET of boxes they had to forklift into my garage. One of my oldest videos is the unboxing and building of the thing. I think the $8000 was tied up in all the cardboard they sent me! haha!! And I've never even put batteries in any of my Black Series helmets, so I have no first-hand knowledge of the voice changer. I've seen videos of it though, and the thing sounds laughable! Luckily I, like you, only display the thing and don't try to "troop" around in it! Never were truer words spoken, Mean Arena! haha! THOUSANDS of times at least! It' all good though! I don't mind answering this one. I use Detolf glass cabinets from Ikea to display them. The stands are just 12" tall, brushed metal paper towel holders like you can find at any kitchen homewares store or on Amazon. I try to be creative, practical and innovative (at least as much as I am capable of) in displaying my collection to minimize cost and maximize visual attractiveness. I'm sorry, ZC, but I don't have any experience with any of those helmets that you get at Disney Land/World. That being said, I don't imagine the technology they use for the voice changers is radically different from what the Black Series is using. And the Black Series helmet voice changers are worthless. They don't do much of anything and are not worth considering when contemplating a purchase of one of these helmets. Hope that helps...

Del, I am using 12" tall brushed metal paper towel holders. The kind you can find at any home wares store like Bed Bath and Beyond and Costco. They work great and are inexpensive!

I agree! this is a great helmet! And funny you should ask about Bo Katan's helmet! I had been eyeing a custom one at an Etsy shop for some months and finally pulled the trigger and bought it recently. Two weeks later, they introduce the Black Series version. So? Yeah... now I have TWO Bo Katan helmets coming as I'm not passing on that Black Series one for sure! haha! Thanks for checking out the video!

Totally agree with you, Forsaken! These older helmets had a very anemic rigging system inside making it uncomfortable to wear for any length of time. Plus, that silly voice changer with the battery pack and external speaker does more to ruin the look of the helmet that having any functional use. The new helmets Hasbro has been putting out are leaps and bounds better. My Artillery Stormtrooper helmet is on the way as I write this, so I am eager to see if they have improved upon the design. I was going to pre-order the plain storm trooper helmet on the Hasbro website but it sold out before it was even in stock. Also it was a 8 month wait

Hey, DonutLover! An excellent question. I too have a gargantua-melon (Size 8) and find many of these Hasbro helmets do fit me. Specifically, this Hasbro Stormtrooper helmet does fit me, just barely, if I remember correctly. The good news is that if it is a little too small, you're still good to go. You can just pop out the head rigging inside and install bicycle helmet padding to your taste inside or Airsoft helmet padding in the same fashion. Truth be told, taking out that uncomfortable head rig inside there and adding your own padding is a much better option, regardless of whether the helmet fits as-is or not. Happy helmet'ing!
