Actually, there IS a fan theory about this. According to the theory, what we know as TCW is, in actuality, the Holonet version of the Clone Wars, and in all honesty, it explains a lot of inconsistencies. It’s made for the population in a similar way that WWII propaganda films were made. Note that every TCW series has a booming narrator at the beginning, just like wartime propaganda films. This is why we don’t have the battle of Coruscant or the Purge in TCW; the episodes hadn’t been made until after the Empire’s creation. Personally, I think the only true events in TCW are the Mortis Arc (referenced in later materials). Everything else has too many inconsistencies with previous EU material (Barris Offee being closer to 16 then to 25, anyone?).
The Grey Jedi I’m aware of this as Admiral Yularen is the narrator and old man in the Death Star. I really love Clone Wars and it’s so interwoven with the lore between two and three that it’s cool seeing how Anakin and Obiwan head to the outer rims and later end up in the battle of Coruscant. Once Anakin sees Padme in Episode III he even references his time in the outer rims. I know it’s minor but it’s so cool seeing that detail.
3:20 Shout-out to George for recognizing good art when he sees it, never knew he was into anime and Genndy IS a master of using anime as a reference point for western animation.
I mean when Akira came out, George Lucas and Steven Speilberg stated the film to be unmarketable here in North America because the world wasn't ready for that massive jump in animation. George always respected and loved all forms of Japanese culture. He was one of the original weebs. Wonder if George had a waifu. lol 😆
Paul Ruddish is the kind of guy you want on star wars. Nerd/fan loving kid from the basement with toys to working on the team. Doesn't get more purist than that.
It's really amazing the quality of Tartakovsky's production team at the time. Clone Wars continues to be the most well produced of all spin ofs of the Star Wars Universe. Of course "The Clone Wars" and "Rebels" from Filoni are really good as well, but do not have the same timing as this series did have.
Not actually sure if this is in Disney's Vault because at the time it was broadcast by Cartoon Network, in the days of the Fox Studios copyright sharring.
As much as I love the modern Clone Wars series, it still pains me this original Clone Wars is no longer canon. Used to love watching it on CN back during the 3 years between Episodes II and III. Even used to watch it between II and III while having a Star Wars marathon. Plus I think they gave General Grievous a much better introduction here than they did in the modern series.
Actually, to me. If you do watch vol 2 after season 7 episode 9 of the clone wars 3D show, it does still lead in with episode III. Then after episode III you go to 10 and 12 together with Asoka. To me, that is an emotional journey within hours of my life.
You I STAY telling people this exact same thing. Grievous is a MONSTER in this series and he goes stupid hard when kidnapping the chancellor. You sir have great taste in Star Wars 🍻
Seeing the last part of the Startakovsky series is the start of Episode 3 was so mind boggling then. It was like, Yes we see you and what you saw mattered.
6:20 - 6:27 Across the Stars. Just by adding that song in after all of these hardworking folks express how much fun and joy they got from working on this just shows how much love and effort was put into this show. Actors, writers, directors, animators, artists. It’s those kinds of people in the TV/Movie Industry with that level of passion for their work that I admire the most.
Tartavosky should have written the 2008 Clone Wars series along with Dave Filoni. That way we have the badass action sequences of the '03 series with the story telling of the '08 series, that way both series would be canon still.
This is awesome I love this series a lot I watched as a little kid on Cartoon Network and said hey dad are these in dvd and I still have them to this day
George Lucas met with Tartovsky WEEKLY to discuss this... and he can't even kill off Ahsoka when he wants to in TCW? filoni is a bit overprotective of his baby. Plus, Lucas could kill off two major EU characters- one of them a film character- in the NJO. I'm skeptical of Lucas' invovlement in TCW, and of it being considered higher than the EU.
I agree with Filoni on not killing her. I mean, what’s worse. Your student and daughter/sister figure dead but knowing their dead or them leaving and you not knowing what they’re doing or how they are.
Genndy: I wanted to tell a great story while using what happens after Ep II and how George is explaining how Ep III will go will also using the animation to have great character moments. George: Anime. Anime, Anime, Anime… Genndy good at Anime! 🤩
While not as good as TCW as a series even though this is a mini series it fits so much better in the EU and the continuity but it's presented unrealistically Clone Wars = Has much more fitting continuity The Clone Wars = Presents realistically If these two were combined then we would have the most perfect Clone Wars series I think idk honestly
I didn't need the cgi series or even Episode 1 and 2. They could have started right with these series and went right into Revenge of the Sith. These micro series are brilliant.
THE Reason why Disney Canonized the 3D Clone Wars, but not the Micro Series is, MS was made by Cartoon Network, While The 3D Show was made by Lucasfilm.
+J. Patrick Stublen Will Disney Released the Clone Wars Micro Series on Blu-Ray?, or it's thrown in the Trash like the Rest of the EU?, or it's on the Disney Vault?
+J. Patrick Stublen It seems that Dave Filoni had move Veto Power than Tartakovsky. The George Lucas Act dictates, that the New Version SHOULD Always overwrite the Old Version. Old: Han Shoot First Anakin had no Padawan Sebastian Shaw Yub Nub No Jabba in 4 This Micro Series Comics under Dark Horse
it's funny that these guys seemed to have more passion for star wars than the people interviewed in the prequel mini-docs. that being said, the 3D animated series was also surprisingly good once you get deeper into it, and the crew for that (especially Dave Filoni) seemed excited and passionate about the project. i'm not sure how i feel about Rebels yet, but that needs more time to develop.
@@bilbobaggins9451 As did you, my friend. Anyway in case this comment comes back to bite me I’m not drinking the anti-prequel koolaid anymore. Good movies
BlackWingedSeraph This version of Clone Wars was made before TCW CW 2003 - 2005 before ROTS episode 3 and TCW was made in 2008 - I guess idk if you count the finale season but Yee 2013 or 2014 6 season on Netflix used to be on Netflix or - 2019 Ashoka wasn't made back in 2003 - 2005 just to let you know
@@BlackWingedSeraphX Perfect way to describe it. Also TCW just has so many retcons. 2003 CW was made with the purpose of bridging episode II and III with a few additions and that’s what they did. I just feel like Filoni go carried away maybe.
But the modern Clone Wars series was launched years before Lucas sold Star Wars to Disney. And I think they were already no longer considering this canon.
As far as I'm concerned, both Clone Wars series are canon save for the segments of the last few episodes of this series. You can fit Chapters 1-21 before the 2008 series very easily.
I’m not sure officially (misspelling) but it’s your head-cannon. I feel like TCW 2008 series is part of Disney’s cannon while the original CW 2003 Micro-Series is Original EU’s cartoon that’s what attracts it to me.
@@75JUNAKI yeah I agree. I don’t see the 2008 series as part of the EU timeline simply because Filoni pretty much disregarded this series when he made the movie along with the rest of the multimedia project this series was a part of. The 2008 series made it as though it was taking place a short while after Geonosis. Plus now a lot of the series is being retconned in Canon, Dookus first meet with Ventress is shown in Dooku Jedi Lost which takes place long before attack of the Clones
Genndy understands and makes a better Star Wars series then Dave filoni ever could lol it’s funny since the guy boasts about being George Lucas’s protégé. 😂😂😂
George Lucas is a fool in not accepting the visual genius that was this show, Disney ruined Star Wars, but you can hire Genndy to create a more epic and mature story with the visually beautiful action that was Clone Wars
BlackWingedSeraph isn’t he one of the strongest force user? It felt like a payoff to what Dooku said earlier regarding to how Grevious should approach his prey.
To me it wasn't just that, mace defeated a whole army of droids by himself. While in attack of the clones the Jedi including mace almost lost to a lesser amount of droids than the ones mace faced in the show.
What should not be considered cannon is the absolutely horrible Clone Wars CGI series. This micro series should have remain cannon and the 2008 CGI series should have never been produced.
Originally, the 2008 one was intended as a continuation of the original series, but then filoni decided to get chee to give him a special tier of canon and introduced retcons just because he could.
