Not only did he succeed, he kept it in his pants throughout the whole mission. It turns out the best in the bussiness DOES have room for improvement! What a professional!
I don't. It shouldn't have worked either, as Rey didn't deliver the mind trick properly during a rush of emotion; he should have either completely ignored the request and kept walking, or realised it was a mind trick and broke free.
The only thing that would have made this scene funnier is if they had a shot of Craig dropping his helmet too with the Bond theme playing as he walks off screen.
I find it hilarious that JJ Abrams was so committed to "Daniel Craig is playing the stormtrooper" that he even had him record ADR when Daniel Craig fully expected someone else to come in and voice the character.
If all stormtroopers were just as professional and skilled as James Bond, the main heroes of Star Wars wouldn't last two seconds fighting them in battle.

I love how you can see Rey slowly mastering her panic during this scene. At first she sounds unsure and the strength in her voice was brittle and weak. It was only once she made eye contact and believed she could do it that she was actually able to allow the Force to flow through her. As per the Jedi way of doing things, brute forcing it is never going to work.

And that my friends was the moment in the theatre where i went from "this is a star wars film, why am i not really enjoying it?" To "yep! this is a load of shite" For almost 40 years we have known training to be a jedi was meant to be a challenge even for those adept, but the mind trick was something only real masters could pull off. Rey heard the word "force" 5 minutes before this scene and now shes all powerful. Takes a dump on everything that came before it.
Exactly. I left the theater and told everyone I know that Force Awakens was a dumpster fire. I got a 50/50 response from friends and family, about half liked it and half didn't. When all was said and done and the entire trilogy was finished, everyone who said they liked Force Awakens could understand what I was saying and agreed with me Force Awakens wasn't as good as they first thought and the entire trilogy was trash.
Listening to it years after the fact, I don't know why I didn't catch this the first time. When he says, "I will remove these restraints & leave this cell with the door open", as well as a little bit earlier, his accent comes through & you can tell it's him. Plus, the delivery of that line is just great.
Yeah I hear it now. I had no idea that it was him until I watched an old interview with Daisy where someone asked her about it. She seemed really excited 'It's James Bond!'.

Looks to me like she knew what she was doing, trying it 3 times. How she knew this force move while didnt even know about the existence of the jedi and the force has never been officialy explained beyond some fan theories unfortunately.
