A visit to Hollywood Blvd for Star Wars Day on May Th Fourth 2020. Stopped off at the Chinese Theatre where the 1977 movie premier took place as well as the surround areas of the Walk of Fame.
Instagram - AdamTheWooATW Normally I upload at night from that days activities and after I edit I put video on private . Something went a tad wacky instead of waiting till the morning to publish this said “heck it “ and a midnight video release was born . Enjoy !
Watched Star Wars in Summer 1977. In a theater that had 3500 seats. And they were all filled 2 months after the release!!! I still remember how it felt when the Star Destroyer first flew over. The surround sound and huge screen made it seem like it was right overhead!!!!
Your right, that huge ship flying over was a perfect start for the film..I remember more about the first Star Wars movie than most of the rest of the movies made. And the opening credits scrolling down the screen into infinity.
Wish I would have been born back then. Then who knows if I would have been game for how Disney has handled Star Wars for the last six years. But I’ve been happy for the most part as a general moviegoer
Oh the well up of tears at Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fishers gravesite😔😭May their dear sweet souls Rest in peace. Excellent video Adam, very heartfelt 💗
Great vlog Adam! Thank you for taking us on a tour of the star wars Legends! I can't believe you can go on the property and right up to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds mausoleum!I I thought it would blocked or unavailable to the public thank you!I also can't believe Carrie Fisher dosn't have a star or foot prints on the walk of fame or the theater !wow!May the 4th Be With You Adam!
I was the first person through the theater door and the LA Times snapped my pic and it appeared on the front/first page of the entertainment section. I also worked on the interior control room shots of the opening Death Star scenes. No only was the movie spectacular, the theater crowd was amazing. Nothing like viewing a movie with solid movie fans. I'll never forget that.
Love the original figures, that’s my favorite version of Luke. I remember when Mark Hamill guested on The Muppet Show. “I can gargle Gershwin!” he said. Always cracks me up!
That was AMAZING!!!! Thank you for doing this. Huge Star Wars fan!!! Loved seeing the pics from the original release. Food network had Star Wars cakes made for Galaxy’s Edge. It was a competition between Duff and Buddy. Stay safe.
I went to see the original Star Wars movie in 1977...back in the Nashville Tennessee area as a child. Never dreamed it was the beginning of something so epic.
The loss of Carrie Fisher and then the tragedy of her mother Debbie Reynolds will always be the shock that I can never get over. I loved them both though I am always comforted by the film Postcards from the Edge which was written by Carrie and based on her and her mother. Shirley MacLaine and Meryl Streep were great in that, an insight into Carrie's life.
DroneXFun Sweet! We have our OG’s in a glass case. Not money worthy they’ve be played with a lot but, still cool to us. Not a huge collection but, still.
I was 10 when Star Wars was released and I begged my father to take me to see it. We saw it at the theaters at the Orange Mall( now the Village) and I was so happy to hang with my father. Whatever I wanted he bought be, Popcorn, a hot dog, soda, candy, anything. I remember at one point in the movie a looked at him to see if he was enjoying it as much as I was and I guess he wasn't because he was fast asleep.Well, the movie was awesome and I still had a great time.
I was 2yrs old when Star Wars was released. I remember my Mom took my twin brother and I to the theater to see it. I don’t remember much else about that day. I’ve seen it countless times since. Posing the original figures on Hollywood Blvd & at Grauman’s…the best!!!
Thank you for taking us to see all these FAR OUT Star Wars items in Hollywood. I really appreciate our virtual "visit" to Carrie and Debbie's grave. I've never seen it before. What a beautiful tribute to the two of them.
I am a huge fan of Star Wars, and that includes all the movies. I still can't believe that Carrie Fisher is gone. She was such a wonderful actress. Absolutely love the statue they have for Carrie and Debbie. Adam, you are so lucky that you live among all of that history. Thank you for showing us, especially those of us who will probably never be able to see it in person.
What a wonderful way to celebrate Star Wars Day! I loved how you paid homage to everyone and how nice was it that the cement prints were accessible! Thank you for making me smile!
Great tribute. I think it's better than a vlog from Galaxy's Edge. When else would you have the walk of fame and Chinese Theatre to yourself. It was amazing yet almost unbelievable to see it so empty. Cheers Adam.
I can't believe that Carrie Fisher doesn't have a star on the Walk of Fame, and that she won't be around to see it when she finally gets it! There are people who have more than one star in more than one category, and Carrie doesn't even have one? NSYNC and Jennifer Aniston have stars, but Carrie Fisher doesn't have a star? That is pure madness.
Agree 100% Sherry E. Only in our hearts and our memories will she be recognized for a true star she is as well as other actors and actresses that are not recorded there. I think that's truly better than a piece of cement on a roadside surface.
I was there a day or two after it first opened. Star Wars was causing quite a buzz among science fiction fans so my friend and I decided to check it out for ourselves. The crowd was still huge but not as big as on opening day. We had to wait in line on the sidewalk for hours to get in. Lots of people in line had already seen the movie and were coming back again. By the time we got in the only seats left were in the front row, and the screen was so huge I had to move my head around like crazy to see everything going on. I'll never forget the opening scene where the Empire's space ship just kept coming and coming and coming over my head. It blew my mind, and at that moment I became an instant Star Wars fan. Lately I have kind of soured on the franchise because of the "woke" writers taking in a direction it was never intended to go, but the special effects are awesome and the movies are still fun in spots. Thanks for bringing back some fond memories, Adam.
I can relate to being in the front row for Rogue One with my brother four years ago. I accidentally picked our seats from that row assuming it was the back row off of Fandango.
Not sure why we are in the middle of a pandemic but with that said, I agree with others. It gave you a special day to remember times that were near and dear to so many. Taking your figurines with you will delight so many collectors. Seeing the stars of actors shows that they will be remembered for their accomplishments and those without a star will still be remembered too. And at the end it was fitting to see where Carrie and her mom are laid to rest. And the icing finale, a peek to know at the right time Disney will be back. Good job Adam....the woo.
Man, this video made me tear up. I’ve loved the Star Wars characters since I was a little kid... your video reminded me why! And Carrie Fisher... she will always be the strong-willed and beautiful Princess Leia. 💖
I love it Adam. One of the best videos I have ever seen. Brings a lot of childhood memories to my kids especially my eldest. He was born for Starwars. Loves all the Star Wars character especially Darth Vader. He knows every detail about the Trilogy, IV, V and VI. Thank you Adam. You are a legend. ❤️🤗💕
Hi Adam, I remember that time. I just graduated high school and was getting ready to go to college. My freshman year in college was filled with Star Wars posters.
I really appreciate this video and you sharing the resting place. It is still hard to believe she’s gone. I regret passing up an opportunity to get a photo with her at Tampa Comic Con. She passed the next year.
I know it's not much. But it’s hard to believe in 1977 not only did that move come out; but I graduated from High school that year. Thank you Adam it brought back great memories :-)
Thankyou for the look around fella, Interesting for us across the pond, particularly movie lovers, and first gen star wars fans to see the places which back then were soooo far away, but no longer that far.
I’ve really been enjoying your videos lately. Your adventures around LA bring back happy memories for me! I grew up and still live her. I don’t get out to the places often enough. Thanks for sharing! ✌️🎥💜
I seriously loved this video so much! The gravesite made me cry. Very cool of you to go pay respects there and bring us with you. Also...you have Hollywood to yourself right now and that's pretty awesome!
May the Fourth be with Woo!!! 🤜💥🤛 December 27th and December 28th 2016, only WEEKS after the release of Rogue One; A Star Wars Story. It was a bittersweet time. 😭 Carrie Fisher was able to be asked in an interview to offer her reaction to her character's portrayal in the film, even though it had to be Computer Generated, and she did say she enjoyed seeing it happen, and had obviously known about it already for quite a while before any of us did. Edit; And I would definitely agree, Star Wars HAS to be the #1 most culturally influential film franchise worldwide throughout all cinematic history, full stop. 40+ years of content that has changed the industry and the technology, and the fundamental way that movies are made, continuing essentially unabated until today and into the foreseeable future, possibly even for several more decades (and generations) to come. I would wager nothing else even comes close. 👍😊
It's great that this video came out so early cause me and my dad check notifications at least 40 times a day hoping you've put out a new video, and now we have the satisfaction of knowing there is a new video waiting for us.
I was 11 years old standing in the longest line I have ever stood to see a movie, Star Wars in 1977 changed my whole view of how movies were to be...It was a game changer.
Hi Adam very interesting and awesome vlog at the original Star Wars premiere in Hollywood. I remember I watched the 1977 and 1980 s Star Wars sequels. This was the best of times when I enjoyed going to the GMC theaters next the old Southbay galleria in Redondo Beach area. Now it’s like a strip mall with Nordstrom’s rack. Really miss those great epic movies. Thankyou Adam for showing us old Hollywood again. Hope you stay safe and well👍🏻😷👽
I literally just finished watching Back In Time as I saw the alert for this vid. I love seeing the Walk of Fame stars. I suddenly miss my lost SW figures from childhood. On a side note, Leia's hairstyle is very similar to Ruby Keeler's Shanghai Lil character in Footlight Parade featured in the Great Movie Ride.
james earl jones for sure,,star....I was at theater when came to our city....i have a nephew who is now imagineer at disney world,, helped create star wars land and one of creators of toys that have went on to be toys of the year.. You have a good one.
Awesome video, Adam. I have to admit I was bummed that I wouldn't be seeing my favorite You Tube Star War fans at Galaxy Edge but i will admit i like this video so much better. It is sad that the men associated with the film have a star or foot prints on the Walk of Fame but not Carrie.
Trevor H It’s best to go by release order just so you get a better idea. Start with A New Hope then Empire Strikes Back then Return of the Jedi then The Phantom Menace then Attack of the Clones then Revenge of the Sith then The Force Awakens then The Last Jedi then Rise of Skywalker. Rogue One and Solo are optional
Glad you did this vlog on Star Wars. I just don’t understand why Carrie Fisher didn’t get a star on the walk of fame years ago. Nice walk down memory lane about the first Star Wars movies.
Thanks for a May the 4th report :) i did get see Star Wars there when it opened, just not a early showing , so may of us there all summer long. I was 3rd in line to see it first showing in Barstow Ca. of all places and we needed up seeing 168 times first run and 910 times total as of yesterday lol
Great vlog. Incredible that Carrie Fisher does not have a star! Enjoyed seeing the grave of Debbie and Carrie. My parent's grave stone has the inscription, "Together As Always" which could be applied to Carrie and Debbie.
My dad remembers when Star Wars came out. A friend of his was a manager of a movie theatre in South Bay so he got all of his friends tickets to see Star Wars opening weekend. There was no line and my dad said that the theatre was about half full. When they came out, he went up to the buddy who gave him the tickets and said, "Good luck for next weekend. It's going to be insane." The next weekend they came by the theatre to see Star Wars again and there was a line down and around the block waiting to get in.
Very well done Adam..what a beautiful memorial for Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds..!..I thought I would never see Hollywood blvd look like a ghost town..😕..👍👍👍
Hi Adam! I'm a new subscriber/ fan and just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I'm prob older than your usual watchers, and love seeing all the places you've been that I've always hoped to go, but didn't. Life got in the way!
