Incredible! When I first started watching Smugglers Room, you're the one that inspired me to use greeblies and make larger architecture pieces from appliance parts, etc. In one of my builds, Han and Chewie are working on a speeder (built from one of my wife's deodorant stick containers), on a race paddock built from the plastic grate from our first high-def TV! Keep up the awesome work!!!
I love the way you do things and I have learned a lot in this episode. You pick and choose items that look cool, then you come back in finish off the things that do not fit. The whole front of the shop looked off to me until you add the details then BAMM!! I think your kind of winging it but just go with the flow and come back to give it the final details. Its inspiring!
WOW! Look at the little....and the BBQ pit...oh, oh ,oh look at the store front! Wait what? The rotisserie works...and...no way look at this! Buddy, great chapter one!!! If there was a 'love' button I would have smashed it!
Being into the miniature tabletop hobby myself I really appreciate these type of builds. What you’re actually doing is world building, so it would be great to see a series of interconnected dioramas that expand upon this piece. You can even create a whole backstory to go along with it.
Thank you very much! World building is exactly what we are doing. I’ve been developing a story around this entire idea. If you haven’t seen the first build in this series we’d love for you to check it out. Here’s a link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7XC4RxI2TDk.htmlsi=rCw9c5GZEt5kvPdl
How many times can I watch your videos and use the words? Awesome, amazing, fantastic? Seriously, I wait for your videos just like I waited for Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid!
Great work guys! Using the pod-racer engine was an interesting idea. Your nephew getting to take part in your cool project, kudos to him… he’s part of the clan now. Overall an amazing work done. Looking forward to the other builds!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
What fantastic scale build Brian! Love the rock work and all the little details within. Especially liked the fire LED's in the bottom part of the roaster. I really like that you continue to use junk or "stuff" you have on hand like the coffee maker. Just today I walked past a small pool leaf filter I had and was ready to trash it. Then the builder in me slapped me. It soon became another power lamp or room prop in my head. I stored it on the shelf as a future build piece. So, I think it's so important that we see you take that approach and further solidify that it was always good for all of us to do!
This is a really great build. There are many awesome techniques to learn from. One of my favorite parts is the beast on the spit that seems to have a hasty shiny glaze.
Another home run. You made me so hungry for some smoked meat that i had to fire my smoker up and throw some rubbed ribs in. Thanks for the epic content. Me and the wife being builders and SW fanatics love your channel. Please keep up the great work. Nothing but love from Georgia.
Love the build, Brian! The LED lighting and rotisserie mechanism really pushed this build's "wow factor" further! I was so glad you added the bottom barbecue pit LEDs; really helps highlight the creature you put on the spit! Looking forward to seeing more of this build. Your videos always make me want to start the diorama ideas in my head (if only I had the space 😩). Thanks for SHARING!
Next up, Sarlacc BBQ Pit! The "pit" should be easy enough, LED lighting for fire and coals, something to represent the meat in the hole (and hanging on racks), a shop for the proprietors (Jawas, of course!)
For speed paints or contrast paints, it’s best to use them with a lighter undercoat. A great method with them is something called slapchop. Basically you prime in black, then drybrush grey, and then a light drybrush of white. You go over with your speed/contrast paints and it will take care of your shadows, midtones, and highlights all at once. You can then go over and do additionally highlights with dry brushing. Hope that helps!
Hay great episode, loved seeing you back in the shop. This project was super cool, also love the longer time of the show. Can't wait to see your next show
I have just discovered you with this video. Can't wait to go watch some of your other videos. Thank you for such a wonderful build. Now I know what to do with my old coffee machine.
I told myself this project was exactly the type of thing I wanted to see. I told myself I would really enjoy it. Yeah . . . totally accurate. I want to see videos for this project all day, everyday.
Your ability to "see beyond" a particular object, piece, component, part, or device is amazing. As a kid, I used to scavenge in my dad's workshop things he no longer used or needed and turn them into Star Wars things, I recall an old cardboard storage drum that ended up becoming a rough astromech droid that I could play alongside in my adventures,.mom gave me an old stainless steel mixing bowl that became the dome, some old 1970s era control panel lights and I was good to go. I am slowly trying to find that old part of me. Your channel has inspired me once again.
I think it took a while to find that part of my imagination at first. It’s amazing how that gets removed as we get older. However, if you keep looking and let yourself tap into that childhood side of your mind, you’ll find it again! I’m thrilled to hear we are helping with that.
That's awesome, I love the scale diorama! You've probably already known, but the dollar stores are great for weird army or sci fi figures that come with good accessories for set decorations, and greeblies. I recently bought a army figure for like $4 that came with a couple barrels, a searchlight, a sand bag barrier, a funky steampunk looking skateboard, and weapons. Gotta love the weird random accessories, lol. But you mix that with the guy who comes with a jetpack and a dinosaur, and you can make great stuff.
Between the "food truck" skiff and now this little ristorante bistro, you're really tapping into one of the more 'mundane' parts about Star Wars that is always either overlooked or outright ignored; food! In the movies and shows, the food is always either those tic-tac/pill looking things Luke had in Empire or it's just a vague liquid like the "broth" from Mando s1. So this is awesome. Great idea, great build, and I can't wait for more additions to this project!
Thank you! I very much agree, i've always wanted to explore the random things like food and other background topics with a Star Wars flare. Glad you enjoyed it!
Dude!!!!! You are rocking this build!! This is one of the best builds I’ve seen you make and you’ve made many great builds! This tops it all! What awesome imagination! Also kudos to you for bringing in the youngin! Getting our youth involved in kit bashing and model building is important to keep it going! All I can say is WOW! Cary on sir!! Shark!
3:45 That's been my personal motto for decades. I would find some object, a clock, an old drill, a t.v. set, whatever. And I would take it apart. Then, I would try to figure out alternative uses for those parts. My wife isn't as agreeable to this...behavior...as yours seems to be. But I still do it...😬
I loved the departure from the normal video format you took at the beginning. Understanding how you find inspiration and then how to find your design was enlightening. And then, of course, the rest of the build was pure gold. Amazing how this turned out!! Congrats.
Now I’m very much not a fan of sports, but, in this case I feel the need to use a sportball term. Brian and Carissa y’all have just hit a double header grand slam field goal thingy*. First off, that coffee maker was jam packed with amazing greeblies. The entrance panel is just perfect. Second: getting a first glance at the size/scale of one level of the pit is making this project feel real. Real big. C, or Fifth(?): I love that the first candidate for the pit is a BBQ pit. There is so much detail. So much texture. So much going on. And it’s not even done yet. Glad to see my little addition to the project. James (of course) did a great job modeling up the meats. I’m gonna have to try my hand at some of your painting techniques. Especially if I ever get my food truck made. I’m hoping y’all are gonna have your own action figures for your shop. Not just paper cutouts. Make them available in the shop. I’ll absolutely buy a set. And I’m sure many of us would love them. And you’ll have to include the next gen smuggler (aka your nephew). So glad you’re involving him in your shop. Now, get back to work my friends. * I’m guessing this is a very high praise?
Wow, awesome start to this one! As a big 3.75" collector, a big city display is on the tops of my list for dioramas that I'd love to build. The LED signs are AWESOME. And the smoky mynocks really remind me of Peking Duck like you'd see in a great Chinese restaurant window. You two put so much thought into these displays. I can't wait to see the progress here. This will be a fun series.
OH WOW that's absolutely amazing. You always do really good stuff, but this is really good, and I can't wait to see more. So glad you guys are back. Keep up the amazing work.
That's TOTALLY something straight out Star Wars!!😲😲😲😲😲 I'm currently in the process of building something in a 1/12 scale Chinese Mythical era. You're definitely giving me something ideas with the Rock structure Can't wait to see the additions to this outstanding dio!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Oh, by the way... I do collect 1/6 Hot Toys Star Wars figures, but, by living in Hawaii. Space is very limited on trying to build a diorama project for them!🤷🏾♂️😢🎉
Amazing build! Thanks also for sharing some of the planning activities - the mock up structure at the beginning is a great model in its own right. Looking forward to the next instalment in this series 😀
Take a look at what Dwarven Forge Dungeon Tiles makes. They have all kinds of great stuff to get inspired by. Plus there is good money in table top gaming for this kind of thing. Some of the Crafters for dungeons have some great and easy led ideas. People like to add a fog machine sometimes too. Love your stuff.
Looks great, Boylei Hobby time does some great work with those LED noodle things nd where to hide them n stuff nd you have had some of his work on here before. Great to see u both back building stuff again 🙂
Superb. I'm in awe of this build - and really looking forward to the development of The Pit. Since first watching your channel, while taking apart a camcorder, I'm going totally greeblie mad. Nothing put out as rubbish [trash] is safe, I'm on the hunt 😅
Im rewatching videos I love your work. Ive watched many of these diorama stacking videos. They are always out of randomed sized sets that dont really tie together. Figure out a consistent size so the dream of the pit can come to fruition
@@TheSmugglersRoom That's not what I'm referring too. For instance the smokey mynock wasn't designed to have anything sit above it. Now it could sit slightly off to the side of the pit or some other idea. I'm looking for a consistent design so that the levels you stack in the pit are cohesive. So that they look like were meant to be built on top of each other.
@@jonwessels749 ah! I see what you’re saying. I can’t wait for you to see where things are headed. Trust me, we are absolutely thinking in the same way you are describing. You’ll see for sure!
To be totaly honnest with you I am not sure I could heat smoky mynock ! But this first building of The Pit is so well done, so attractive I that, maybe, a day of great starve, maybe, I could try, maybe . This building is one the most essential because a man must be nourrish to be a good hard worker ! 😊😂😂😂😊 !
Totally amazing video. I totally like the idea to sketch and test fit or even place items to see how they look. I will definitely be inspired to build my own custom layout. Thanks for the amazing video. Super awesome!!
