It's not a plot hole that Uncle Owen doesn't recognize 3PO. In Star Wars droids are everywhere. Why would one that you haven't seen in like 23 years stand out to you when they're a dime a dozen? Also, I dont think this movie is slow at all. Modern audiences just have no patience for storytelling.

-13:14 Yes, R2 knows. He was better at keeping a secret than 3PO, which is why he had his memory wiped. Most people don't know that this whole Skywalker Saga is being told BY R2. He is the narrator and the keeper of the Journal of the Whills. That is why each movie starts the exact same. R2 is recounting the journals to give the stories. Another thing most don't realize is the Droids are the main characters of the movies, at least the original trilogies. The Storie is told from their point of view, not Luke or the other characters. You'll notice R2 are in just about EVERY scene or had access to the data of what we see in the movies. Lucas followed the movie structure of the Japanese movie, The Hidden Fortress for Star Wars in which, the bumbling idiots, who if you see the movie remind you of R2 and 3PO. I was 13 Years old in 1977 when I saw Star Wars in the Movie Theatre. The special effects were ahead of its time. The movie was originally just called Star Wars. It did not get Numbered Episode IV until Episode V The Empire Strikes Back was released in 1980. George lucas started with the first Movie of his second Trilogy. He did not know if he would be allowed to make more Star wars Movies.

The supposed shortcomings of the light saber duel on board the Death Star were the result of the limitations of the technology of the day. The sabers that they had were prone to breakage because they were designed primarily to try to reflect the light of the studio lights (an issue they ended up bypassing with the red and blue animation they added in post production), with actual combat being a secondary priority. Thus, the sabers weren't exactly made of steel, and they performed as such. Funnily enough, none of us complained at the time in 1977.

I've watched dozens of reactors view this and most if not all were impressed and thoroughly enjoyed SWIV. I'm soneone who watched this at the theatee in '77 and still have the VHS tape of the original theatrical cut😁. I did enjoy both your comments throughout this and your demeanor was awesome. I think you should watch Rogue One next then het back to V snd VI. 😊

I don't think you have to be a Jedi to say may the force be with you. It's like someone who isn't a preacher or a priest saying god bless you. You can still say it. And I think this episode does seem like a natural progression of the story from episode 3. It's just the characters,some of them anyway, don't know things that we the audience knows and also other characters are lying to avoid telling the truth about certain things.

If you’re looking for original theatrical versions of the original trilogy try finding despecialized copies of them on blu ray or dvd.

You keep referring to Vader as James . You do know that The actor that played Vader was David Prowse, right. James Earl Jones was just the voice.

The storm troopers are clones. Same hight, voice etc. they just turned them into storm troopers. But they are clones.

What a terrible order to watch the movies
