@@jesanielbharmal5916 yup, don't believe everything youtubey people tell you! I went with my brother and my dad, long time star wars fans, It didn't feel like fan service at all. My only issue is it wasn't an hour longer!
If George Lucas doesn't get Hayden Christensen back and put him in a new *Star Wars Story* film. Im gonna take Hayden away from him & use him as Doctor Doom for The MCU.
@@UNPOCOLOCO444 With everything coming out recently i don't think so. The biggest Problem with the prequals was the dialog and the people that didn't tell lucas when they thought an idea of his was bad. This new Trillogy basicly has no structure or silver lining. It has no charm, no heart. JJ never got the amount of controll he needed (In episode 9 next to none) and Rian Johnson got way to much. They ruin alot of the old trillogy and don't really add to the saga at all. There's just too much wrong with it, while the prequals had bad dialog that you could (for me at least) easily accept and overlook. TLDR: The Story was good. The new ones isn't. That's why people are slowly accepting the mistakes George made back then and won't when it comes to the new films. Sorry for all the spelling errors, i'm german and don't write in english that often anymore.
@@UluvNacho nah. the voice actor from the clone wars deserves props tho. he returned to voice vader for a few lines in Rebels when Ashoka faught vader and that was lit.
He's right. The Disney crap I see as nothing bu independent material that has nothing to do with the original saga. I think that's why George was able to part with it -- Star Wars was about Anakin. He was done.
The first 6 movies were all about anakin falling and then redeeming himself by killing palpatine, now they bring back palpatine and give Vader’s sacrifice no purpose at all
I'm happy knowing Hayden understands that after what Disney did to Star Wars, people are starting to appreciate the prequels more. God, that lightsaber fight between Obi Wan and Anakin is just iconic
Well, true Star Wars fans always appreciated them. It's more accurate to say, "Star Wars made new fans, after seeing the slop we had shoved down our throats by our liberal overlords" because even if you had some complaints about the prequels, you understood that that everything leading up to Star Wars being murdered, was all interconnected and intertwining. Star Wars was a universe, everything in that universe had a purpose, and everything in that universe impacts everything else. From KOTOR to the Imperial Civil War. From the Cold War to the Clone Wars, it all worked together to tell a story. What disnay did was destroy all of that, like I knew they would and replace it with "Straight People bad!" "White People bad!" "Men bad!".
@@deadmanwalking971 What's even more painful is that George Lucas himself said he felt betrayed by Disney. I wonder if he feels any guilt? Probably not he made so much fucking money.
@@Dustyholes I imagine he feels *some* guilt. After all, he not only busted his nuts trying to make up for the issues people had with the Prequels, but also expand upon what people *did* like. If he hadn't sold Star Wars, I imagine more and more people would've seen what I was talking about earlier, that everything he made connected.
+Christian Garcia I actually have high hopes for the new Star Wars movie. I think it will be great. Not only did JJ Abrams bring the Star Trek reboots that were very successful, but he is going back to practical effects and outdoor sets...something that George Lucas failed to bring to the table in the prequel trilogy. Most of it was green screen by the time Revenge of the Sith came out. And you want to talk about Disney? DISNEY brought us Pirates of the Caribbean. So no. Not everything done by Disney these days is unicorns and children movies. I would say that they have actually grown with the times. I have high hopes for Star Wars.
People should at least respect that about him. Nowadays, movie makers or actors would attack fans or blame us for not liking their movies and whatnot but Hayden doesn’t do that. He has every reason to attack back but he doesn’t.
@@Deathpool_04 i remember seeing an interview with him at a star wars convention. That subject was hit upon and basically said that that's just the way this business can be. You have to take the praise with the ridicule. It will happen and he understands this.
+Bournefort That is what I thought, until I went back and watched a few fan edits. The fan edits are useful in that they help you to see different aspects of the prequels better. It turns out, the prequels are incredibly intricate and actually, overwhelmingly, adult material: political intrigue, intricate psychological games, meditation, emotional control, etc. etc. etc. Lucas probably felt they were so serious that he had to throw in even wackier comic relief to counter balance, or people would criticize the movies as being too heavy. The reality is, they are incredibly detailed and complex pieces. One of the important insights that I have had in particular is that when you see "bad acting," it is probably intentional. Much of the time, the characters in the story are actually acting a bit or being manipulative with each other, to test their trustworthiness. Anakin does it a lot to Obi Wan, and vice versa.
Tbh with the amount of bs Disney made he could’ve come back physically and not as a ghost because he was so powerful, especially since they made Kylo and Rey so powerful
Benjamin Diaz, YES! I burst into tears seeing him in ep. 6 edited in, I would have freaked out in the theatre if I saw him in ep. 9, where he should have been, as a Force Ghost. Huge missed opportunity!
TIFFANY PERSAUD he was actually supposed to physically be in ep 9!! however they cut all of his scenes out and just used him as a voice. rly pissed off abt it.
The voice thing was real weird in general; not necessarily the actual scene, but I saw something with Liam Neeson saying he had pretty much no idea what he was doing and neither did Sam Jackson
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I actually liked that Hayden's ghost was digitally added to the last film. As a kid who was introduced to all of the movies as a whole, I didn't have a bias for the prequels or the originals. I just loved them all. The ghost appearing as young Anakin really brought a sense of closure to the character for me. It felt like the whole series connected at the very end and the Anakin that I knew in the prequels finally redeemed himself. I understand why fans who experienced the originals as they were coming out would be upset with the change, but I loved it. Just my opinion.
You were the chosen one, George! It was said that you would make good movies, not sell the rights to them! You were to bring balance to Star Wars, not leave it to Disney! You were my hero, George, I loved you.
@@chronica6457 No it was the neckbeards. People loved Episode 1 when it first came out but then the forums and Plinkett reviews got all bitter because they didn't understand basic kids ideas that even Alex Jones can understand.
+QuadBuster BSG just because this video is uploaded in 2012 doesn't mean it was shot then. The "interview" is from 2005 just before the release of Episode III. So it's not "3 years later fuck it here's episode 7"
Even if Hayden stood there for every Star Wars film and didn’t say a word. He’ll still be a good actor coz he looks the part. He’s the only person that could be Anakin
I honestly think Christian Bale should’ve been Anakin. I got the idea after watching Equilibrium. He also looks like a younger Sebastian Shaw. Even though I’m not fan of the PT (Even though I like ROTS. It’s good but not great) but the PT is WAY better then the ST.
That’s what I love about 1-6, Anakin/ Vader was the center, it was an epic tragedy. As much as I enjoyed 7, it didn’t center around Darth Vader or Anakin, which I understand, but it felt like it was missing something. And with 8, where does it go now? Who knows?
Y'know what? I feel really sorry for Hayden Christensen. I went back and rewatched all the Star Wars films (like everyone probably did) before seeing The Force Awakens, and honestly? He didn't actually do a bad job. Okay, yes Attack Of The Clones wasn't great, but that was mainly script I think... Revenge Of The Sith, on the other hand, was an INCREDIBLY good film for what they had to do with it. In the space of less than 2hrs Anakin had to go from being the hope for the future to the darkest character potentially in cinema history so far. It's not an easy progression, and personally I think Hayden played the downfall very well. Again, script wasn't amazing, but based on expressions alone he doesn't deserve the hate he's given. Don't care what you say about line delivery, you cannot fault him on showing the inner turmoil and ridiculous range of emotions Anakin felt during RotS's story.
+Quatza Rij I used "potentially" because yes, as a character, he himself is not dark. His story however, is actually quite dark and when he turns in Revenge Of The Sith, it cannot be denied; he kills children that can't be older than 7. He chokes his own pregnant wife to death. And in the original trilogy, he blows up a planet just to make a point, threatens his own son with death (and tortures his friends just for the hell of it [let's be honest, just capturing them would've made Luke come to the rescue, the torture wasn't needed]), agrees that his son either has to join them or die, then watches him be tortured before FINALLY realising it was wrong and doing the right thing. If I'd said "he IS the darkest character", then sure there'd be room for argument, but I didn't.
Olivia McDonagh Stop being so pedantic with your wording. I'm just saying it was a very grandiose claim for you to make. I had fun watching the interview, agree with most of your sentiments even, but to compare his character to the huge amount of dark cinema is a bit of a stretch. I won't even ruin Oldboy for you, but since it's my example, take the charater of Lee Woo-jin. He isn't cliche dark (like I think Anakin was, but really don't mind!) but definitely darker than Anakin.
Hayden Christiensen is the Keanu Reeves of the star wars movies. He's humble, he's gentile, he's kind, he keeps to himself, yet everyone loves him. It's hard to believe that before the sequels and r/prequelmemes he was hated. How could anyone hate him?
Hayden Christensen is a nice guy and I have nothing against him personally at all. But I’m not fan of him as an actor. However I still think the Sequel Trilogy is worse.
12 The clone wars 11 Solo 10 Last jedi 9 Phantom menace ( yes it still sucks ) 8 Force Awakens ( overrated ) 7 Rogue one ( overrated ) 6 Attack of the clones ( I have my reasons ) 5 The rise of skywalker ( JJ tried to fix the problem but failed but I still like it I know I know ) 4 A new hope 3 Empire strikes back 2 Return of the jedi 1 Revenge of the sith
+SkyWalking, the OP was talking about Episode 3 and you're talking about Episode 2, but yeah, I really agree with you on all those points. The dialogue and storyline did get better in 3, though, as they showed Anakin's downward spiral into becoming Vader.
Me: Disney taken a huge shit on Gorge ideas for the sequels I want to see Gorge vision for the sequels instead of James Jimmy Abrams and Ruined Johnson.
I don't really like the sequel trilogy even after JJ Abrams admit that there's isn't a plan for 7-9 they had three outlines that Gorge did and Kathleen Kennedy didn't used them and said that Star Wars has no source material.
That'd be awesome! Mark is so witty, down to earth, and comfortable with other people. He brings out the best in others. From what I've seen of Hayden's interviews, that's when he really does well. Mark and Carrie would've been phenomenal! Too bad that never got to happen. Ewan McGregor and Hayden would be a good combo, too. I'd like to see Harrison in the mix, too, but he seems so done with Star Wars, he'd just be poopin' all over that party.
"The saga is now finished. It starts with Anakin as an eight-year-old and ends when Anakin dies." Every time I think of what Disney is doing... I just see the new movies as a independent material, nothing to do with the original saga, the George Lucas Star Wars. They are getting a lot of bad feedback, but they just don''t care. They are too busy destroying everything George did, even killing all the characters that they can.
Must say that since the new movies are bullshit, and that they kill the entire canon just to make a new one (pretty bad, again) i kept with what they now call SW legends. Pretty good stories.
2011: “It’s all about Anakin” 2019: “Yea let’s just take Hayden Christensen out and put Rey in and see how this goes” Edit: Yes 2005 lol. Idk what I was thinking writing 2011.
Ugh the cringe 🤦♂️🤦♂️ it’s funny because George said he’s independent and never had to basically report to a corporation. Example of no one wanting to see a movie about a 9 year old boy and here we got the corporate saying they don’t want attention away from the character no one gives a fuck about. Literally makes me hate Rey even more. How the fuck do they not realize after 2 movies of shit they still trying to push hot garbage
Stervenity Virgo Exactly!! Nobody cares for Rey! The want to see Anakin back, the original characters in their last movie or in general! Not Rey completely taking over Star Wars!
Honestly I have a very rare opinion in that I loved Anakin and the prequels and I also love Rey and the new trilogy. I know that sounds naive but I just havent really seen anything wrong with anything Star Wars related so far
Rey is what Anakin would have become if he didn’t have the strict Jedi order restricting his lifestyle choices and not making him a master and then the powerful emperor taking over and denying any hopes he had to redeem himself
Bink 8 U agree but it was his decision to step back. The fame from Star Wars was overwhelming for him and he's a very shy person. I think that's why he bought a farm in the middle of nowhere after the trilogy was over.
Pamela Johnson well he did other movies to like jumper which I loved and if you haven’t seen it SEE IT! But he’s been in other movies his best movies were attack of the clones revenge of the sith and jumper easily!
Guys Hayden is a good actor. It's George's shity direction that fucked him over. Just watch him at the parts where he has no dialogue its awesome. Looks like a fucking badass
+Phalvesaurus Anybody can look menacing, it's not that difficult. A strong actor can make the movie better just by how they act. Ewan McGregor was a good example of this, as he can deliver even ghastly lines and still make them bearable. Just because someone can look a certain way doesn't mean they're a good actor.
I love George Lucas and Hayden Christensen so much. Forget the prequel haters. It was perfect and served its intended purpose. I love Star Wars, every bit of it. Prequels included. And I'm thankful that George gave us such an amazing story that has affected our lives in so many ways. I'm truly greatful.
Andres Villanueva I think it still kinda is because The saga is about anakins life before, to darts Vader, to the impact his life had and the effect it has put on the Characters
@@christopherstein2024 do you not listen? George made the ghost of Anakin the age and last moments while he was still on the light side of the force which was how he looked in the beginning of episode III
Everyone complains about the romance being awkward....how do you expect a celibate warrior monk and senator to flirt?? It's like they want romantically illiterate teens to be as charming as James Bond. I thought the entire film was very well done.
@@oscarrivera3929 I mean being realistic as well, Anakin grew up a goddamn slave and then left his mother prematurely at 9 to go to a distant city planet with a bunch of people he didn’t know to become a space monk sworn to never love or form attachments to anyone. Like he’s gonna be weird and fucked up. You would be after all that.
Hayden needs to come back and play anakin again especially since he looks the same and hopefully he will in the 2021-2022 obi-wan series as a big role if they don’t bring him back they are wasting opportunitys
You know, I will say this. I am really sick and tired of everybody hating on Hayden Christensen for his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Let's face it. An actor's portrayal of a character is only as good as the director telling him how to portray that character. From reviews, interviews, and other such sources, George Lucas has never been one to really press people to act a certain way. He basically says "Action" and lets them create the character how they see it. This can lead to a lot of bad acting. And not just in Star Wars. This can happen in ANY movie out there. You know why other movies are so popular and actors are giving a great performance? Because the director is the one pushing them to. Michael Bay was called "Hitler" by Megan Fox because he pushes his actors REALLY hard to give it their best. But every Transformer movie you see has had GOOD acting in it. Or at least I think so. So stop hating on Hayden for his portrayal of Anakin. He did the best he could with the little coaching and guidance that he had.
This is so upsetting watching this I watched the rise of skywalker and hearing George talk about being independent and having no corporate pressure is just awful he should've never sold Lucas film to them
@@Oneeye_snaps sadly he wanted to make sequels and he thought it would take at least 10 years to make and he was worried he was gonna die before he could finish and wanted to continue star wars so he sold it having his trust in Disney

The Privileged Capitalist A joke? That is what Joe offered, a good laugh. He doesn't need a sidekick, but what do I know...not as 'privileged' to see through the new age ways of piggy backing off other people with better material!
This is why Hayden is a great Anakin. His respect for the series. When you can play "Darth Vader". your director wants you to feel like he can sit down with you and discuss all this. Also, the music of Star Wars is epic.
He was supposed to be. A teenage farm boy who only dreams of getting off the wasteland he's on. He grows as a character and you see that. That's because of actually good dialogue and great acting. it worked imo
Aldwinsanity yeah don't get me wrong im sure Disney wants to make more money but don't forget they did the avengers and advengers 2 and all the rest of the marvel movies it will be good trust me and jj is a much deeper writer and director look at star trek and he said he likes star wars better it should be good and im sure ppl are curious what happened after that whole situation idk I think they can make it good
As Lucas said, the story is supposed to be based around Anakin. It feels like Disney is just trying to go for a cash grab and make episodes 7, 8, and 9 about Luke. I can’t believe they didn’t have Anakin appear in episode 9. What a disappointment. Star Wars isn’t independent anymore, and it shows in Disney’s cash grab films.
I love seeing Hayden Christensen care deeply about the characters and express the honor it was to be in the movie. Especially after seeing daisy Ridley, and boyega complain about the movies and working on them and how they would never do it again. I like to imagine Hayden would be Vader again in an instant, if asked.
Piggybacking on that I feel like if George was still in control and he made the sequel trilogy, Daisy and John wouldn't have had reason to complain and they would have felt just as humbled as Christensen and we would've seen more of Christensen too
+ghostdog2041 I prefer this in all honesty. Everything in Star Wars ends up getting an Origin Story or explanation....Kyber Crystals for Lightsabers...Midichlorian for force....Cloning facility for Boba...I hope Yoda remains a mysterious character...Mind you, having Yaddle alive, made Yoda less special.
@@rachelk864 I mean, if you look at all the main characters over the years (before disnay got their filthy vermin claws on it) look at Anakin, look at Luke, look at Starkiller, look at Revan, what do you see? Power...power that had to be earned. Anakin had actual Jedi training, Luke kept fucking up before he finally mastered his powers, Starkiller had insane amounts of brutal training, and Revan had actual Jedi training. They worked to become the powerhouses they were. On the other hand, mrey sue just knew how to be perfect at everything, from piloting starships she's never fuckin seen or heard of before, to easily defeating force users trained by *Luke Skywalker* himself...to easily defeating the same *Luke Skywalker!* Oh, and liberals that say Luke's a Mary Sue because he knew how to pilot an X-Wing are fucking retarded. Luke, back on Tatooine used to fly his personal *Incom* T-16 Skyhopper and bullseye Womprats. Later when he joined the rebels, he flew his *Incom* T-65 X-Wing and destroyed the Death Star. In case any liberal scumfuck reads this, *INCOM DESIGNED AND CREATED BOTH THE T-16 SKYHOPPER ANS THE T-65 X-WING! THE T-16 AND T-65 HAVE NEARLY THE SAME CONTROL SCHEME AND SCHEME LAYOUT! SO THAT'S HOW LUKE COULD PILOT AN X-WING, DESPITE HAVING NEVER SEEN ONE BEFORE!*
I'm a HUGE Hayden fan and his portrayal of Anakin Skywalker was flawless. He gave the character a personality, a life, he wasn't the dick that was Darth Vader but a real human being that lost control of his emotions which lead him to a bad place, aka the dark side. If that's not good acting, then I don't know what it.
Olympic Egg The person means to say that the prequels were brilliant compared to the new trilogy. Most people, I included, would rather not have the new trilogy even be anywhere near the Star Wars franchise. Episode VI was the best finale... but Disney ruined it.
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Really, you don't kno....ok, what happened is that he made the prequels. And some of the people who call themselves "fans", but just are really toxic, were badmouthing them, and sent George Lucas death threats. He couldn't deal with it, so he sold to Disney.
Christensen didn't even have any great faults in his acting. He did a phenomenal job, extremely masterful at conveying emotions. Honestly he was the one who made revenge of the sith a great movie. Anyone who jumps on the "he is a bad actor" bandwagon because of a few corny lines in AOTC is a shimpanzee following the crowd and unable to think for themselves.
+Joshua Cayetano you've seen fucking blue nasty elephants and fat slimy talking eels in his films, and still that mans neck is bothering you..... thats weak man
This interview is AMAZING. They couldn't have gotten a better person to play Anakin. Hayden is amazing. "The saga starts with Anakin and ends with Anakin."
Hayden's acting when he's not being forced to vomit silly dialogue about sand is actually damn solid, if not better than that. The scene where his mom dies in his arms, or when he and Padme are staring out the windows at each others' buildings, wondering what's going to happen to them, among others, are pretty emotional and powerful.
That’s what I’m saying he played the roll Anakin very well an emotional angry conflicted and confused man. I mean if course there was cheesy and strange dialogue but who cares honestly.
Matt has the deeper, more menacing voice, while Hayden puts emotion and realism into the character via more than just voice acting. Both are good in my book
Eric Jackson official channel what’s wrong with you? The sequels clearly contradicts this statement and if you’re too stupid to realize it then I’m not gonna explain any further
@MiniKun-t it's still a spoiler for people who have been waiting 2 years for this movie and hoping he's in the movie. Due to how shit the sequels have been I hoped he maybe in it. Then you with your little comment spoiled it. 😲
