The original Star Wars trilogy revolutionized the world of cinema forever-- but did the final movie stick the landing? While not as universally loved as Empire Strikes Back, the movie is definitely a classic. That being said it does raise a few questions-- like what exactly was Luke’s plan to rescue Han? Why did the Emperor leak the actual plans instead of decoys? Why did the Empire include another thing in the Death Star that blows the whole thing up if you shoot it? What’s up with Obi Wan being such a sassy ghost? Speaking of ghosts, is Anakin turned into a Force Ghost, doesn’t that mean that Palpatine is probably still out there?

I'm pretty sure the opening wasn't all one plan, but several separate plans that they'd been trying all those months. My reading was Leia freeing Solo was actually her jumping the gun and getting everyone in trouble, leaving Luke to have to step in as a final back up plan. Or maybe not. I don't really care, because that's pretty much the only fun or interesting stuff that happens in the movie until the very end.

Fennec was far better and cooler than Boba, as were the criminal guy and Cara. Heck, I would have much preferred him giving the Marshall back the armour in exchange for his aid.

The fun thing is that nobody actually wanted Ewok toys, so Lucas seriously damaged _Return of the Jedi_ for nothing. Then again, we are talking about the same director who retroactively damaged *ALL* of the O.T. and also inflicted Jar Jar Binks on the world (and don't even get me started about the *TWO* whiny younger versions of Vader), so... yeah.

I always thought that Leia was talking about her adoptive mother in that scene. Like, "Oh, of course I don't remember our mother since she died in childbirth, but I have good memories of my adoptive mother." The incongruity never struck me since I automatically switched it in my brain 🙃

To be fair, a lot of the plot holes weren't there when there were only three movies. Like Obi Wan claiming Yoda trained him. Before the prequels decided to do something else, we could just assume that was actually true. The same goes for Leia remembering her mother.

It's wholly because of the fan base and the Expanded Universe, which expanded the character exponentially to turn a handful-of-lines throwaway character into one who was being touted as having his own film. That's the power of good storytelling....

@@KhanGarth I'm not sure why, but they decided to keep a Wookiee look but just make them like 1/3 the size. If you look at their names even, very similar: "Wook-iee" / "E-wok."

HEY!! You messed up on something.... at 3:36 you mention merchandising, but the studio let George Lucas have the merchandise rights in exchange for some of his payments from the films or royalty, something like that.. Long story short, the studio exec forgot to mention how he gave up merchandise rights for money and how money is tight then forget what hes talking about. Yes.. yes..

But getting the Delorian up to 88 mph at the same time as hitting the wire strung across the street with a long poll, at the same time as lightening striking the tower, even though there's a sixty second window of time for it to occur before the minute hand ticks over again would be super difficult, right?
