Steven Irwin It’s not that amazing. These use the standard LED blades that all sabers from Galaxy’s Edge use (they only fit in one way), and cost hundreds less than the unlicensed ones do.

Yeah Saberforge takes forever to stock them and if you want light and sound they cost 400 bucks man. This thing is less than 200 even with the blade. Yeah the Saberforge one is battle ready but that's not what this thing is supposed to be, and even then the thin neck Saberforges are battle ready with an asterisk, so you still have to be more careful with them. There's only a small set screw on the emitter holding it into place.

The blade is different. It has a deeper blade insertion depth because it is a neo pixel blade

@@icedtea9501 it doesn't though, as the technology exists to keep the thin neck and still have a blade. I own a 3rd party saber that does just that, and all the tech in it is better than what these licensed sabers offer. It seems strange to me that Disney still chooses to go this route

@@icedtea9501 I mean, if that works for you I'm glad. I just think it's pretty chintzy of Disney to use such inferior technology. They should at least offer two levels of sabers at different prices with better technology in the more expensive one. They arguably do with the black series elite sabers but that technology is still years behind what third party makers offer in their sabers

If I remember correctly that deleted scene has since been Decanonized due to extended lore in the comics or something like that about how luke gets his ROTJ Lightsaber, the only time in *OFFICIAL* Star Wars Canon we see the Lightsaber that up close to the switchbox is in Episode 8 The Last Jedi at 1:12:43 with the lightsaber Deactivated and Activated and the Arrows do not light up or blink, I am gonna take a guess that they do blink when Luke puts it into service or repair mode to signify he's tinkering with it, but It's a movie so it's not gonna be completely consistent with a small detail such as the Arrows on the side of the switchbox. All I know is that they do not light up in Episode 8 which was the last time we saw the lightsaber up close the only other time we've seen it recently is in Chapter 16 of The Mandalorian and even then the arrows aren't lit up and you can see the arrow clearly on the switchbox at 34:29 in Chapter 16 of The Mandalorian.

I got my RoTJ hilt and 36” blade for Christmas as well. I was thinking of getting Obi Wan’s but I had to ask Disneyland staff member’s opinions of which is the most iconic and they chose Luke’s and I think it’s an excellent piece that I even use for light painting photography to make excellent visual effects.

Get the saber forge one if that is annoying you, you can get it in smooth swing and you can use your blade with the thin neck on!

Caden Bernstein-Lawler I debated the same thing when I went and I ended up buying this one. It is a very beautiful piece for sure. Next time I go i will be either picking up vaders or the non reforged skywalker saber if it is back in stock

@@Bobbthemonkey Those 3 rings connects to the same pins that the blade connects to when you use the fat neck portion. The biggest ring on the outside is power. The middle is data and the smallest one is ground. If you connect the power and ground with an LED it will light up even if the lightsaber is turned off. If you connect the data and ground it will do the same sound it does when you connect a blade and you can then turn the lightsaber on. Technically this could be done with every legacy lightsabers if you connect the data and ground in the emitter hole but it's just much easier to do it on the Luke hilt because it unscrews in half and has those connectors exposed.

@@chamoo232 That’s awesome. I would love to see someone connect a thin blade to the display emmiter and then use a wire to connect through the emmiter to the electronics so you could use a thin blade on the thin neck.

@@mystics1ay3r17 In theory it can be done but instead of going through all that trouble of modifying the blade and emitter it's probably best to just buy A custom Neopixel hilt from one of the many custom saber makers who do that. Korbanth, KR Sabers, Ultimate Works and many other companies specialize in that.

36 inches is the canon length of a lightsaber blade according to the visual dictionaries. Some lightsabers like Anakin’s had buttons to adjust the blade length though and the Temple Guard’s lightsaber Pike’s had shorter blades with longer handles.

Right? For these things to work irl and the blades to all be compatible with each hilt, there has to be some suspension of disbelief. If we can accept for the most part that the blades are a physical thing that lights up, or that the activation buttons aren’t where you’d think it should be, then the thicker neck for the blade isn’t far fetched.

SirJames I Gamerfuzion for sure saw Mace and a Kylo saber. At least they are in the display but Maul wasn’t so maybe a chance.

The problem is with their blades. Disney has a unique twist off blade that has that black insert at the end of it that's suppose to make the hilt recognize the blade. Other companies like Ultrasaber and Saberforge have no problem adding the blade to the thinner neck because they use screws to hold the blade onto the hilt. I guess Disney didn't want to make a custom shorter twist off blade insert for Luke's lightsaber and was easier just to make an adapter for it.

AnthonyPlayz it comes with an extra end cap to fit the blade in, right? Look under the box it came in
