Just a minor correction but they are not wrong in saying the night sisters are destroyed on dookus behest sense he is the one who order grievous to do it
That this video only has 100 views seems like a crime to me... keep it up shrimp you're going great work, you deserve more recognition this video was spot on!
It's funny because every time I see this game being played, it only just makes me want to go back and play Force Unleashed 1. Star Killer is a solid character who is pretty underappreciated by the fans and written off as a Gary Stu because "hE pUlLeD a StAr DeStRoYeR oUt Of ThE sKy!" while ignoring the fact that EVERYONE's force powers are turned up to 11... hence the name Force UNLEASHED. But also the game has a really fun combat system and force system that gives you a lot of freedom of creativity with how you use it. Just the fact that force grab alone lets you toss just about anything not nailed to the ground (and even then) and toss it around like an ragdoll is great. Even enemies will lifted up with force grab will try to grab hold of other enemies to escape, which leads to amusing moments of holding two enemies up at the same time. I dunno, I can think of a lot more fun and better designed things from the FU game than this generic sekiro rip off.
I have checked your first vid and this one and a few in between before writing this comment... I watch tons of retrospectives and reviews and the main difference with all the other channels to yours seems to be the same reason as to why I couldn't even get through even 15 minutes of your content: Buddy, slow the hell down! Do you know how mentally tiring it is trying to absorb all the information you are sending out to your viewers when you are speaking at such a high speed? Seriously, this is probably why the channel isn't taking off. Everything else is spot on. The actual content and editing is absolutely excellent man! It's such a damn shame. Check the other content out there from others and you will see for yourself that NO ONE else goes at anywhere near your pace my friend. Oh and trust me, I am only writing this because of the high quality and the effort you have clearly put into your content and not to be a total asshole. I know I am blunt with my words and I wouldn't take offence in the slightest if you deleted this comment as I have not written it for the sake of other viewers anyway, it is only meant for you my friend. Please remember that most people simply skip over vids they don't like and hardly anyone ever leaves constructive criticism so this is why you may not have had feedback like this before. I really do think your channel could have been in the sub count area of around 50-100k (minimum) by now if you would have made your content at a slightly slower (regular!) pace and I hope you take this on board with your next upload. I just hope the algorithm hasn't put you on the exposure shit list and doesn't punish your channel from here onwards but it may be too late as you know how cruel the system can be. Good luck mate.
I appreciate the feedback! Personally though, I don’t think that my talking speed is the biggest issue, since Whitelight is immensely popular and he speaks at least twice as fast as I do (not to discount that this affected your enjoyment). I normally watch videos (including my older ones) on 1.25x speed since I feel that most people talk too slow, so my internal metronome probably just goes hard or something. With that said, you’re not the first person to point this out, so I will at least try to keep it in mind when recording, although I couldn’t bring myself to slow down to the point to where it starts to feel unnatural. Still, I really do appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and give some good feedback that isn’t just “video sucks, uninstall your life lol.”
@@saltyshrimppasta It really will make a difference to go a little slower, just a little bit (and definitely seriously try to not shorten the silences between sentences as much as you tend to do). Pacing is sooo important my friend. Right, now I know I've pretty much said this in my initial comment, but I just want to elaborate a little more to enforce my point a little more (even though you didn't disagree with the advice I gave you...). Such content really is meant to be enjoyed like a treat in a non rushed fashion by fans and followers of games. Remember we're talking stuff that's feature length and longer man! Slowing your pace will allow your audience to absorb the information you are putting out there, as retrospectives and similar content that you seem to enjoy and am talented at creating tends to contain such vast amounts of detail. You see, it really is a joyous moment when one finds a nice lengthy piece on a game they like or if really lucky, an entire channel filled with goodies (like yours for instance), so I really do hope you do action my advice for future content as I promise you it WILL 100% have a positive impact on your channel. All the best and I'll be sure to keep tabs on your future content. -------------------------------------------- (Just to finish, I wanted to slip in something that I found earlier that made me chuckle a little...) On multiple vids, when passing the 70-80% duration point you actually do slow down to a perfectly acceptable pace in parts! It's almost like you yourself were running low on steam from maintaining such a speedy pace from the start ;).
I think spacing the pauses a bit more is a good idea that would go a long way. I’ll try it on the next one and see how it goes. Thanks again dude, I really do appreciate it!
Thank you, finally someone, I can't stand Cere too. Her whole personality is suicide support group member who would be fired from session because her answer to everyone's problems is to start talking about herself and her feelings. Game pretending she's some kind of mentor or master is ridiculous, thank god we at least had Holo Cordova and Prauf. I know why her character exists and why they had to make her seem super important and mindful in this day and age, but they just wasted her whole character, and good acting. And were even afraid to redeem it by killing her in the end. Great work man, can't wait for gothic, lot of childhood memories.
I was afraid of wasting my time exploring and getting lost if I ever gave this game a chance. Sorry if that sounds dumb. I've heard the exploration was annoying.
I don't think it sounds dumb at all. Not wanting to deal with the exploration is a fair reason to avoid the game, especially since the consensus seems to be to just play Sekiro for a better experience overall. With that said, I'm 100% going to play Jedi Survivor to see if any of this is improved.
Responding this late really doesn’t help my case but this comment seemed to slip through the cracks, sorry about that. Short answer: no not at all, I just took a bit of a break through the second half of 2023 and am working on a video now. It’s a bit rough getting back into it after so much time off but we do be trying.
I liked the game but never finished it because it just got boring. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The story was good but as you pointed out there aren't a ton of story beats and they're pretty spread out. Everything outside of the story just felt kind of bland. There was some inspiration there but nothing about the gameplay or the combat stood out at all
As a non Star Wars fan, this game was just super boring to me, probably the worst crime a game can commit imo, especially sad since Stig directed the banger that is God of War 3. Oh well, at least this video is pretty thorough and entertaining.
Most 'critics' and 'reviewers' are just objective based. Doing fair and balance reviews just have no use to marketers or those who love or hate a game or gaming company. I like the intro thought I would leave a comment and like because I overall believe in this critic philosophy. I can't say the word used to critique this game since it was rent and I didn't have the desire to buy or rent again. The combat was interest but seem liked a water down Dark Souls with other game elements mixed. The platforming frustated me more than half the time. And what little I experience of the story was Meh! at best. Maybe it get better later on. It started out okay, but than just dropped off (at least for me) fairly quickly. You might see comments from me later. I'm actually taking a break from Pat's Skyrim video (btw even though I am subbed if if wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't for the Pat's discord. I'll have to start clicking on the bell for channel that don't up load a lot but I find interesting) Edit: will pick up later stopped at 33:41
I agree. It close to being the ultimate StarWars, but it's not. But now you MUST talk about Jedi Survivor - I'm ready for6 hours of that :D What I hate about the combat is the lack of responsiveness with blocking and the unlockables. Unlockables are unlockable for no sensible reason. An large ogre can be blocked, though the impact of it's swings would send Kestis flying no matter what. A stormtrooper's swing can be blocked, except when it's an unlockable - an it just is unlockable. But there is no difference between them. I'm not so bothered by off-screen attacks, because it's part of the fight to keep track of enemies. But any and all enemies can attack at the same time. And a spider and an ogre would not be cooperating.
We need another Sekiro game, because the combat is great, I just like that StarWars isn't trying to be difficult with every incounter. It is nice to enjoy the Sekiro combat as a power fantasy, without having punishment all the time.
Really enjoyed this video. Definitely the best I’ve seen covering this game, especially in regards to the story and overall pacing. I look forward to seeing your video on the Gothic series when that’s done.
No I don’t. Other footage I’ve seen about the game is pretty similar, and often a lot worse (especially when it was back at launch). To my understanding, it’s just an exceptionally buggy game.
Great video. Nice to see an analysis of fallen order that doesn't fall into "goty" or "trash". Radical statements generate clicks but they are the death of video game journalism.
I was really surprised that so many of the reviews I found thought the game was either a 10/10 or 0/10. It was definitely a motivator for me to make this video, since the game at least deserves a fair look at it.
@@saltyshrimppasta In my opinion the best way I can describe Fallen Order is inoffensive. However after finishing it I was so fed up with the AAA formula that I went in a completely opposite way and played Pathologic 2 which is one of my favorites now. So I guess I can't be too mad for Fallen Order's shortcomings.
This video is actually great. You really shine with such long form content, as someone who dropped the game because it was frustrating and boring, this video was very entertaining and I enjoyed the dissection of the gameplay and story very much. Look forward to watching the rest of the videos on your channel.
He knows about the betrayal because he’s feeling thousands of his brethren begin to get slaughtered en masse across the galaxy. Yoda does literally the exact same thing in episode 3.
Yoda does yes, but not immediately after the transmission comes in, and none of the other Jedi who got killed saw it coming. That was more my point, that it seemed extremely fast compared to how the movie presents it. It’s honestly not the worst thing and is probably more of a nit pick, but it still stuck out to me as odd while playing.
@@saltyshrimppasta i’m not a super lore freak, so I’m not particularly sure how powerful this Jedi is. But yeah, it just seems like poor pacing that the transmission was literally still active when he realize what was happening.
@@IAmJunker Same I don’t know a ton about Jedi power levels or the extended canon. I just remember going “huh that was a bit quick,” so you’re right about it just being poorly paced. Personally, I think it makes more sense for you have overheard the transmission, Tapal (I think his name was) asking about it and then springing into action when they start shooting. That would’ve been pretty cool.
@@saltyshrimppasta great video by the way, I just finished it. I’ve been listening in pieces at work and I enjoyed your dead space, greedfall, and prototype videos as well. Just started the titanfall one a minute ago.
I've had this game on EA Play for two years now and have hardly bothered with it because it has two of the things that I absolutely hate in gaming: stupid climbing up walls and stupid jumping up said walls! Plus the level with the stupid puzzle balls made this game feel like it was designed for stupid kids and whilst a lot of people argue that video games are for kids I just remind them that the average age of a male gamer is 33 and 44 for a female!
Despite never having played Fallen Order, your analysis was fantastic, informative, and I can tell you put a ton of work into this. Great video! You deserve so many more views.
I was having a great time with it until Kashyyyk happened. Holy hell, that place... I want to finish it but that just kicked all the wind out of my sails.
In all honesty i am super hyped for jedi survivor. If they take what this game did so well and improve it and actually make a gear system it could be amazing
Great video and one of the few that’s actually reasonable about this game, I did enjoy it a decent bit but it kept glitching a lot for me and one of my friends overhyped it but I felt that it was just alright
Great video. Just wanted you to know the reason I found your channel is because PatricianTV looked up this video during his stream about the Starfield direct a few days ago.
Yeah somebody else mentioned that and I went and found those bits. I usually try to catch his streams but I didn’t that day, so of course THAT is when I get shouted out.
@@saltyshrimppasta you said : "Snap back to reality" In MMs song he goes: "Snap back to reality Oh, there goes gravity" Also people make the joke about mishearing a line from this song "Moms spaghetti" instead of "Arms spaghetti" so sometimes people combine it :D Favourite band BTW?
NothingOut OfNothing Ahhhhhhhhh okay gotcha, that never even crossed my mind tbh. I have heard the mom’s spaghetti one though If I had to pick a favorite band it would probably be Invent Animate. I’ve also been listening to a LOT of Olly Steele recently (sad he left Monuments but from what he said in one of his interviews from a few years back, his heart wasn’t in it).
Hey, question about Gothic: Not long ago "Archolos" mod released. Everyone says it's basically gothic 4 we never got, would you include it into your review?
I considered it, but I was going to focus primarily on officially released content. I’m likely going to end up trimming it down to just the trilogy too, since it’s gotten so bloated already without even getting to Forsaken Gods
@@saltyshrimppasta Hope you'll do it some day, cause I've yet to see a good review of it, and you're one of 4 reviewers i consider component enough to pull it off.
I haven’t played KOTOR 1 or 2, but I did play SWTOR a lot as a kid and went through a few of the character questlines a few years back. I definitely need to play the first two games someday
@@sueflewelling3657 I don’t think any one character ever stuck out as especially memorable, but I do like Lord Zash and Khem Val from the Inquisitor storyline, mostly because of their dynamic during chapter 2
@@sueflewelling3657 I think it can work as long as it’s done well, but it really depends on the writer’s goal. If they have an actual story they want to tell, it’s probably not the best idea (Sekiro’s story seems very present for example). But if they just want to build atmosphere and focus on gameplay, it should work perfectly fine.
It's sounds like combat wise, the game really fails to teach the player correctly. I haven't played the game but I have finished Sekiro and it looks straight clumsy by comparison. It really looks like the devs didn't really understand what they were copying. Also the ponchos are pretty bad lol. Anyway have fun with Sekiro it's an awesome game, and it just gets better the farther you go.
Also why would you lock that training mode? That should be right up front so people can practice on what's killing them, and the enemies just unlock as you come across them in the story. That way it doesn't spoil enemies but you can still practice. The whole game is like an AI generated video game lol, you can tell no human ever actually played the thing before released.
It’s ironic, because that’s exactly what God of War: Ragnarok did with the Niflheim arena. It’s accessible from early on, but enemy types become available as you progress. Although as features and customization go, meditation training is better overall
@@saltyshrimppastathought it wasn't a serious thing and glad it wasn't, very good video even for someone not into star wars. Looking forward to more of your content
I was thinking the same thing but I never said it here. If they focus on more linear levels it’ll be much better. The open world design doesn’t suit this game.
I'll add to this comment when I have more to say, but I will preface it by saying I think this is your best work yet and I'm very much looking forward to the Gothic video. I think the best indicator in quality is how much of this script is analysis and not synopsis. 1) 38:00 Having played both Sekiro & Fallen Order, I think a big issue FA has is a lack of skill progression. Later in Sekiro, you can unlock new skill trees, like the ashina style. In fallen order, you omly have one skill tree, which is smaller than the two you start with in Sekiro (when combined). I finished the FA skill tree early into my playthrough because I was thorough in exploration, but in Sekiro, the large number of deaths I suffered meant i struggled to fill out the skill trees. Even if i finished the first two trees through grinding, holding off the other trees until later in the game means that players will always have something new to unlock, wheras in fallen order, that sense of progression is quickly lost, because the tree is so small. 2) 42:45 Yeah, i also didn't force push rockets on my 1st playthrough...
02:13:33 As a recovering star wars lore nerd, there isn't any explanation as to why Tapal senses the betrayal. Tbh, they should have animated him as being tipped off by the commander literally getting the order beside him, then raising his gun, rather than getting a migrane...
4:48 "effectively telling respawn that this level of quality is acceptable" You were so prescient with this statement. Watching clips from Joseph Anderson's Jedi Survivor streams really shows just how confident they were in releasing a buggy mess, probably thanks to the positive reception you talked about in this video. In hindsight, that part of your thesis is absolutely spot on.
@immenseangloid4168 It was really upsetting to see how bad the game released (I still haven’t played it but was following the mayhem). Any defenses that Fallen Order was a one-time incident due to being rushed went out the window
@@sueflewelling3657 I will be doing Jedi Survivor (hopefully later this year if my schedule plan works out), and I like Soulsborne games. They’re not my favorite and I haven’t actually beaten any of them, but I occasionally get the itch to play them and then go get clapped at Bloodborne or Sekiro
@@saltyshrimppasta I have noticed that you've used it through the rest of the video, which I loved. Also the hollow knight sound track is really good, although ad mech ost is one of my favourite.
Thanks dude! He was actually one of the first game analysis channels I started watching, so I consider him a big inspiration for much of my earlier work (I kinda found my own voice since then so I don’t consider myself a Joe Clone anymore)
@@saltyshrimppasta Your delivery is on point as far as inspiration goes, and you provide an in-depth look into the game you're looking at. Hope to be here while your channel is growing!
@@champion1859 To be fair, I did go out of my way looking for negative reviews to see what other people said. All I learned is that this game has some very terrible positive and negative reviews on RU-vid.
I definitely plan to! I’m taking a bit of a break/hiatus right now so it’s getting pushed back, but I would like to do it as a follow up at some point.
