Isn't the Bandai Perfect Grade the best one? (they researched all the same kitbash parts) It's also a lot more detailed in the cast than the Deago, despite being smaller. I agree about the paintjob on this one though, I personally would not buy it for 1/4 the price, bigger does not equal better if the finish is not there

@@damn5987 I guess you could say that to be fair. It depends on what we mean by better. The Bandai PG is based on the 5 foot model from ANH and it's about 60% of the size of the Deago Falcon if my quick math is correct, so "the best one" would be questionable. If by better we mean more accurate, then yes, the Bandai PG Falcon is the best one out of the box (but it can be improved too; it's not 100% perfect), but the Deago is way bigger and it's based on the ESB 32'' model which became THE falcon for many people. So if you're gonna upgrade any of them and you have the money and the room, I'd recommend the Deago. You can find it for little more than the PG on second hand apps and it's already built, much larger, and it's the ESB 32'' version 1to1 replica so you can use the exact donor kit parts or recasts of the actual greeblies (or 3d print them) and have your little ILMish journey. Now, if what you want is an almost perfect replica and you don't care if it's in a way smaller scale than 1to1, or if it's the ANH version... or don't care about the ILMish experience, then go for the Bandai. To me the Deago is still the best option, but that's just my opinion. I have the PG and I just got the Hasbro Hero Series Falcon which is almost a 1to1 replica size-wise and it needs way more work than the Deago so I'm gonna have a blast working on it to make it a decent replica. So both the PG and the Deago are great options but very different journeys and results. PS. Unpopular opinion: Bandai kits are awesome but they're overengineered (tedious to build!).

@@damn5987 Agreed. The Bandai Perfect Grade w/ Lighting Kit is the best bang for the buck and is beautiful when complete. The Deagostini Falcon had mid-run changes to it's construction because many earlier kits had some bad fitting and non accurate parts. I also thought Justin's Falcon's paint was too heavily applied. I do love the review and subject matter. Keep em coming Justin!!

@@damn5987 True. The Bandai 1/72 scale model is as close to the Original 5 ft. Filming Model (STAR WARS) as any kit has been. This DeAgostini is based on the 32" TESB Filming Model which has dozens of different details from the original.

You're always gonna get that with any mass produced/even limited run item though. Things will be very airbrushy compared to actual filming miniatures with their washes and drybrushing and so on. You can always get someone who does custom work to improve it.

Yeah that paint job looks weird…the coloring looks off and distorted. Love the details and electronics though. Best efx I’ve seen even compared to the DeAgostino’s Falcon. But that paint job…uuughhhh.

I am considering this piece and Jazzinc's 1/6 cockpit. This MF would cost me around 2700 Euro, including shipping and tax and duties, while Jazzinc's 1700-1750 Euro, including shipping (no duties because it is both bought and delivered in the EU). I have space just for one of them and I am trying to make the right choice!

The Original 5 ft. Filming Model for STAR WARS was too big and bulky for shots they wanted to film for EMPIRE, so they built this smaller 32" model.

@@JustinsCollection Okay... But, considering this is usually a model that's built up over time and comes with a magazine, the packaging for this is quite important since it's already pre-built. Was it easy to remove, was it sufficiently protected, was there any assembly required and if so, how much? Weight is important too considering the pricing of shipping and packaging takes up weight, so I'd say it's a fairly important aspect to take note of...

@@BeaaarmaN Oh cool! Far superior? With respect he only way I can think that would be true would be in the paintjob (which imo is worse), not in accuracy. The new one is also much more 'plastic-y' imo. I was at SDCC one year and lead modelmaker at ILM at the time Lorne Petersen was there critiquing MR's work on that version. And that's the main reason I bought it. The paintwork though is the usual airbrushy stuff you get from even limited run stuff. Not a big deal for me though as eventually I'm gonna get around to working on that myself. But yeah, love to hear why the new one is "far superior". Maybe you mean the extra interior stuff puts it ahead for you? That working ramp is indeed hellacool! Thanks for the reply!
