Yes, I was very surprised and pleased with the 720p and size after initial expectations and reviews I saw before getting the machine. Most of the graphics are "painted" looking that don't show jaggies anyway. Looks like the "dead pixel" at 1:33 that I noticed on Vaders left shoulder (on my machine) is, like I figured, due to the artwork just on this table default main screen playfield (and not even on every screen/scene) nice to know as it initially scared me. A few minor things for me are, that the ball seems a little too fast, instead of more weighty and a little slower (closer to a real pinball mechanics), I wish they included the other animated table (Clone Wars) instead of, maybe the battle table. But maybe they couldn't because it seems to be the only table that does seem to have an original Star Wars voice actor (The Narrator). I think the Boba Fett guy sounds good too though but not sure if he's the real one. The nudge delay (which makes the function almost useless) and no nudge button option, a the few mini games where you have to control both flippers and the launch button just about require a second person to hit the launch button (Vader light saber battle and Trench run). That, if unfamiliar with the table, you either have to trap the ball, or have someone else read the DMD instructions and the smaller playfield does make determining and hitting shots a little more difficult. Probably due to the smaller flipper size. Especially shots like the R2 lane on Empire for the first scene. Basically the far left and right lanes. But overall, it's great. especially the build quality and look. The ATGames looks horrible and toylike (but does have some better features like pc connection, ect.
I have afm and my friend has Star Wars. The Star Wars music playing all the time is great. The thing I like about afm is that the tables are real. I’m going to a barcade that has midevil madness tonight and I feel confident that my skills will transfer to the real machine.
Unless your windows have anti-uv coatings, I highly recommend you keep your gaming cabinets away from direct sunlight. they will fade. I have the Marvel pinball, and am awaiting Star Wars. That DMD is way too small for anyone with less than 20/15 vision. LOL. I had to build a magnifying device to be able to see it, and I still have trouble with some of the smallest text. But, these tables are a lot of fun, albeit hard for me to see on 24" play field monitors. It's like playing pinball with a BB. LOL Thanks for posting the review. :)
I assembled my pinball legs by putting the machine upright on 2 saw horses. Screwing legs in upside down is not a good way to do it, and I am surprised A1Up recommends this to buyers.
Had a mate over yesterday for a competition and a few beers - and we started nudging on AFM in particular (which seems to work better than star wars) - and I have to say I'm a convert 👍
