I love this playset! Well, mostly the bunker. Even though I find it to be a little flimsy. I use these items in my Endor Battle diorama and they look quite awesome. Thanks for sharing this one!
I want to get this and the detention block. Maybe I could put them one next to the other one to make it look as if it is just a building, like some kind of prison.
I still have this in my Endor scene. It is really more of a diorama accessory than a playset. I seem to remember paying a lot more than $14.99 for it at retail. I remember because I was a little perturbed at the high price for, essentially, a back door. But it looked too cool to pass up. It would have been nice if it had some kind of slider mechanism on the side, to make the doors open. I made a hill to put behind it, and I put a picture, from the movie, of the interior of the bunker, behind the doors, so you could see in when you opened them.
This is really one of my favorite sets in the PotF2 line. My younger brother and his friends sometimes took it out from my display back then... So I'm still missing one of the inner doors. But it still fits quite nicely to display my Endor assault team figures & the Ewoks... also the "vintage collection"/ Black Series figures fit in very well. (I thought of buying a new/ complete one, recently, but it's not easy to get in Europe/ Germany.) 2:35 There's also a movable log below the knock out branch! I think its purpose is to let AT-ST walkers trip over it, by moving it upwards. It would have been better if they had concentrated on the design of the bunker interior. The tree and catapult are a bit silly and superfluous.
Great review! The catapult was a reused piece originally utilized in the Dragonheart action figure line, hence its design not really matching anything the ewoks used in the movie. This play set was one I really wanted as a kid...I used to imagine getting it and setting up a huge Endor battle scene (my favorite action set piece in the trilogy when I was 10). To this day I haven't picked it up but I might have to now!
+irongary Ah, interesting. I never saw that movie. It really is a fun set for having a bunch of figures around. Hopefully this is one you can come across without too high of a price. I haven't looked it up to see what it's going for.
I really liked the cardboard playsets. I wouldn't mind if they came out with a couple more of them. As much as I would love to see the Death Star playset again I can't imagine it will ever happen. Who knows though. Maybe Hasbro would consider the 50th anniversary worthy enough of doing it again since it isn't coming for the 40th.
Great review, but I have a question: Can you read minds? Yesterday I wanted to ask you if you could review this playset. I know you probably don't belive this.
