When I think of all the options we could get, I start getting really excited. I would love a retro style Clone Trooper, Maul, Jedi Knight Anakin, the entire Rogue One crew, etc. Hopefully they keep this line going, it’s definitely become my favorite to collect.
Thanks for the review with seeing the figures uncarded and up close. The figures look great IMO. I hope we get some Ewoks, that would be nice, agreed. I think the Retro New Hope figures will be expanded on with Obi Wan, Jawa, C3PO, R2D2, Tusken and some others hopefully soon.
I've bought the luke jedi, biker scout, han and the obi wan wave retro vader and wandering obi wan.retro speeder bike and at st would be easy for them to produce.I love the retro better than all those over articulated figures.
Too bad about the flimsy cardbacks, I have Leia and Lando loose and True vintage. I'll be passing on these and most "retro" figures, need to save my money for TVC. Good review! Nice that you have actual carded vintage figures. Lucky you. My fave from this wave is Luke for sure.
I wish they did some of the original trilogy character that weren’t made like Biggs and stuff in the retro collection also instead of just re releases for retro collection thanks for the review
Yeah I loved the Tarkin figure we got in that first wave. They have gotten away from that but hopefully at some point we see more unreleased OT characters. I think that whole idea morphed into the waves of new characters like Mando and OBK. I also would be shocked if we don’t get a retro collection vehicle (or creature) within a year or so. It’s a no brainer.
@@The_Ewok_Wrangler Yeah I’m surprised they haven’t tried to release a bantha or dew back retro collection and the tarkin is a cool one I don’t have that one but will probs have to get and they are making a lot of prototype figures
My favorites are the Han and lando! I’m honestly Looking forward to the book of boba ones (specifically Cad and Black Krrsantan) recently revealed. Nice video Just subscribed!
Thanks for the support! Definitely some great options in this wave, but ROTJ has so many great figures that I just hope we get a second wave! BOBF wave I think it will be unanimous that Krrsantan and Cad are the two favorites. They look outstanding
The original 1983 Kenner Luke Jedi did have a much more rare variant with the painted hair and molded face. I had to pay quite a lot to replace mine, after my dog got ahold of mine.
After a long time of resisting I finally scratched the itch and picked up the New Hope box, I needed some retro Star Wars figs in my life. Planning on picking up all the figures they make of the saga movies, but I have a question idk if you can answer. Do you know what the correct figure stands for these would be? I tried doing a little research last night but nothing clearly states "these stands fit star wars retro figures" Most listings will tell you "fits all vintage 3.75" star wars figures pre 1995" or something to that effect. Do these figures have the exact same foot hole as their original counterparts? Or will I need a more modern type stand?
Great question. These figures have the same sized peg hole as the original vintage line. So any that are stated to fit those will also work for Retro Collection. I have used Iain’s Display Accessories (on eBay) Vintage Star Wars Display Stands and they fit great! PS. Glad you finally bit the bullet on Retro. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!
The Emperor is not the most exciting figure, can't believe I'm mentioning. However the face paint application is worse than the vintage. Much more skin tone bleeding into inner hood.
Very true. I thought that was just kinda normal for this figure but you’re right. After comparing this to some vintage pics online, I do think it’s a little worse. Still happy to get this character though!
I'm sad about the flimsy cards. They didn't do that for the two pack bounty hunters they released. They are on thick cards. I decided not to buy any more Retro collection figures because I just can't see these cards lasting the test of time. They were literally just made for opening I think otherwise you'd be spending more over to buy star cases for them too.
Yeah the ANH 6 pack had great card stock too. Not sure why the inconsistency. Could be that this ROTJ was just produced a while back so it hasn’t transitioned yet? Or if they are picking and choosing “collector” packs to give us quality cards. Either way, it’s confusing.
(Sorry, long comment) 1. [Removed because I was wrong] 2. I collect Black Series now, and the biker scout is also my favourite trooper. I accidentally bought a misprinted Black Series scout trooper whose “nose” is white instead of the more accurate grey half moon just below the eyes. I love it because it reminds me of my old vintage figure (unfortunately his gun is not grey like the vintage). I ordered a new 40th anniversary version to get the “correct” paint, but it will be nice to have both. Do the legs of your retro collection biker scout form a “V” shape when he sits down like the vintage one did to sit on the speeder bike?
I’m new to collecting figures and I usually keep them sealed, but seeing the flimsy card backs in these, is it worth removing these from the packages? I don’t want to spend a lot on protectors
Here in Canada Star Wars figs at Toys R US or walmart are 26,99$ a fig and that is if you are lucky enough because there are a lot of scalpers around I got lucky in the first wave got vader, stormtrooper and Leia Never saw the others.
Definitely. Not as bad as the ANH wave, but very similar to the ESB wave. All their new sculpts from Mando and OWK don’t seem to have the problem as much.
Aside from the photo, logo, and silver "racetrack" border, the cards for the Retro collection are absolutely useless. May as well look at photos of the originals online.
