(NONE OF THE CONTENT IN THE VIDEO BELONGS TO ME. STAR WARS BELONGS TO DISNEY) Back again with a Clone Wars Vid. I tried to make a Moments vid for Fenn Rau. But RU-vid Kept blocking it. So i rushed this video. lol
The way he just shoots the king like a Commissar shooting a cowering Guardsman just comes to show how cold and calculating Kalani is compared to most CIS commanders.
To all those who are curious, I actually met General Kalani's voice actor (Greg Berger) at TFcon earlier this year. I asked him if Kalani would ever return. He said that Lucasfilm hasn't said anything about that. So as of now, it is unknown if he'll ever come back.
Hi, thank you for that information. I'd love to see him make some type of appearance him and his female counterpart female are the few competent droids in the whole show
Kalani wasn't any tactical droid he was a natural leader of the droid army he was a lot smarter then most tactical droids combined looks the only tactical droid that survived without being cut in half and blasted
@@usmanya5110 I'm not so sure about that. Super Tactical Droids are created all the same but each develop their unique tactics and personality based on their experience. It is possible that more Super Tactical Droids refused to shut down their armies after order 66 but as we know, The Empire was working on searching and destroying such "rogue elements". It is mostly up to pure luck that Kalani didn't got found by the Empire before the rebels. Either way, I'm glad he is still alive. If there was another Super Tactical Droid who survived being hunted by the Empire, I would like it to be Kraken.
I would feel sorry for the rebels but honestly it was so refreshing to finally see a droid general that's not a complete idiot. We really needed a smarter villain in Clone Wars, the separatist army really started to feel like a joke at that point.
Technically, they're not stupid. They just underestimate them a lot and think that they're right all the time. At least this one knows about "What ifs" and knowing if their plans have flaws.
next to thrawn kalani is one of the smartest characters in the series. less of an ego then other tactical droids, knows when to call it quits, able to figure out how to survive the shutdown code after the separatists lost and was able o put the past aside to defeat a common enemy with a clone.
we need a new trilogy about a droid rebellion led by general Kalani. "in my time in isolation i discovered that the droid army was never meant to win the clone war, by my calculations the droid army could have won the clone war easily. but we were used just like the clones were. now i look across the galaxy and see millions of droids being used in a similar way. this will not stand. I have breathed new life into the droid army under my command. Now the droid army will take it's rightful place as the rulers of the galaxy."
If written by people that genuinely like Star Wars and want to create a fun story with emjoyable characters, then it could help revive interest in the franchise. Bonus points if it ignores the Sequel Trilogy made by Disney.
Kalani slowly reactivating old remnants of the confederacy, finding derelict ships and rebuilding them, uniting droid holdouts and gaining influence on previously Separatist worlds, all as the Empire grows weaker. He takes a small portion of the galaxy and becomes another faction in the galaxy, along with the Imperial remnant and the New Republic. We can only dream I suppose.
I remember when the Tactical Droids were first introduced, they were put forward as "A new opponent that our heroes can defeat" and how lorewise they were supposedly responsible for turning the tide of the war in most of the theaters our heroes weren't fighting in. I must admit I didn't really buy it at the time, because the tactical droids in the series kept getting their butts whooped. But Kalani? During these scenes, THAT was when I began to believe that tactical droids could be a threat
@@aBlackVixen I personally tend to think of the Ryloth tactical droid as an example of an ineffectual TD. They literally could have killed Kenobi on the spot but for some reason decided to gloat. And then they got beaten down by a bunch of kids because they forgot they could close the hatch on their tank. Not exactly a shining example of tactical prowess
And yet, when all is said and done, he does eventually think outside his cold and calculative tactics. But only when he is the last of his model and kind. I have to wonder what happens to him after his last ever appearance in the show.
@@usmanya5110 I think because they learn on the job and adapt. So by any chance they survive their first few battles, they are more then likely to win the next. Unfortunately they seem to always be opposed to Jedi.
Is there a reason why Kalani executed the King? The only reason why he did was to prevent him from being interrogated by the Republic or because he was a loose cannon
Probably because he knew Dooku wanted him dead. The king kept screwing up instead of letting them do their job. His original failure was the reason Kalani got sent to Onderon to begin with.
In the end, the incompetent King Rash was executed when Dooku decided it was no longer profitable to continue the war in Onderon given the rebel victories and continued support of the public in the rebels favor which is made clear at the failed execution. Other times the rebels adapted to taking out the droids better in the arc. After the gunships were taken out(at the cost of Steela), then Kalani and Dooku agreed to retreat entirely, with Rash eliminated for opposing this(he probably wanted to continue).
The only purpose he served to Dooku was as a figurehead puppet once they quelled the rebellion. He wasn't anything else, they included him in plans and he knew a lot even though he was an ineffectual leader. So when Dooku conceded that taking the planet would be more costly than its worth he had no use for the obedient figure head who would be captured by rebels and give up information.
Another point I want to add is that it works in Dooku’s favor when other planets look into what happened at Onderon. With Rash dead, he could spin it into the “terrorists” killing Rash and overturning separatist rule in a violent coup to join the republic. When in reality, Dooku sent a substantial number of war machines including those droid gunships on Separatist spil to subjugate its own people. And that doesn’t look good for him
While in my headcannon I had imagined Kalani joining the rebellion as a strategic advisor… part of me realizes that Kalani would still be remembered for his crimes on Onderon especially by Saw Gerrera. Unlike his hatred of separatists and imperials that’s generally hate for association, he would likely recognize Kalani’s markings and directly accuse Kalani of ordering the death of his sister and call for Kalani’s brain. Man that would’ve been a riveting story in Rebels.
@@RandomPamtriFella Sanjay Rash, King of Onderon, who later got killed by General Kalani, was voiced by Kirk Thornton ( Gabumon/Garurumon/WereGarurumon/MetalGarurumon/Omnimon in *_Digimon Adventure_* 01 - Tri. ) who later voiced Shadow The Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog games (since 2010) and in *_Sonic Boom_* cartoon TV series (2014-2017), where Asajj Ventress’ VA Nika Futterman voiced Sticks The Badger !!!
Most low ranking droids use some form of "Roger Roger" for confirmation of orders The gunships use "By your command", like the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica
6:45 I live that it links back to the prisoner torture scene. The super tactical droid learned what the other general meant and realizes the consequences of their own plan time and resources to keep up this forced iron fist.
The one thing the droids and even commander droids lacked was being able to learn and adapt. Nearly all droids were programmed to fight versus learning from the ground up so tactics were never their strong suit. The T-Series commander droids would be updated with the most recent information on battle tactics, but it wasn’t until the ST-Series commander droids were built to learn and adapt.
1) Cool Voice 2) He learnt things as they continued, showing his intelligience 3) Many of his failings were due to incompetence from the king, and the lack of knowledge of Ahsoka being around until much later (also the plot required the rebels to win.)
What the other guy said. His official return in Rebels also shown his competence to be well above his peers. They outright said he would have won if it wasn't for the droids being rusty and malfunctioning. The most important thing here is that his calculations are all tactically sound and the odds are in his favor, the opponent are simply beating those odds because "the Force is with them." You know, the default excuse whenever the writer need the good guys to win and some random coincidence just so happens to help them out of a jam inexplicably.
@@Taskmasterxyz idk I think not accounting for your biggest enemies possible showing up, like they always do, seems to be a pretty big mistake. I understand what plot and such is and that the good guys have to win ultimately, but still he just made a bunch of mistakes really. Then again the entire war was just a sham so Palpatine could rise to power so "making most of our forces actually suck as on purpose" was probably on his agenda.
@@thelandofchickens I do hear you and agree, but specifically on Onderon there was little to suggest that a Jedi would he there. They weren’t fighting clones, or the republic in general. Just insurgents rising against the new king’s rule and the Separatists. Kalani had no reason to assume Jedi would be involved.
Always loved Kalani, I was hoping that he would be the start of more competent commanders, but instead we see every Super Tactical droid after him act like a buffoon and die in a few scenes. It’s always been one of my major gripes with the show. Why even introduce a super tactical droid if they’re just as expendable and make the same mistakes as the normal tactical droids?
I don't get it, why does General Kalani not seem UPSET that Count Dooku counted this as a LOSS? I would have expected General Kalani to try and persuade Count Dooku to commit to the fight...
I'd like if any super battle droids that haven't been hit with the death code be added into the current series like Ahsoka, or the mandalorian cause by far the best faction in my opinion is the seperatist army cause the soul reason is the droids themselves
I guess after seeing that there was no way to have guaranteed control of Onderon , Dooku , Kalani and the Separatists knew they had to cut short their losses So they disposed weak links to themselves So they had to kill Sanjay Rash
man the show really shows some weaknesses sometimes. they had the military and political leaders at their mercy and failed to eliminate them. ...and then the croud yelling "they're innocent" yikes.
Why would Kelani need to wave the smoke from his faceplate? He's a robot, he doesn't breath and likely has thermal or infrared optics that don't require direct line of sight
No, because Ukraine and Russia are in direct war with eachother. Ukraine has a full fledged and capable military while the rebels don't, and they don't need to garner approval because they already do.
I don't know, his logic was sound most of the time, he just completely failed when it came to keeping public support in his favour. Which is understandable, he isn't a mayor, hes a general.
lets not forget, he was smart enough to keep a large remainder of the droid army going into the times of the Empire because he didn't trust the command to shut down
