As I already have Hero Realms, DC Deckbuilding, and a ton of Dominion, this doesn't feel like a game I need to own. Looks like a solid game though, so if I was just starting my game collection, I might have bought this over something like Star Realms or Hero Realms. This and Star Wars Clone Wars (Pandemic) will do a lot to bring more Star Wars fans into board games. Many of the other Star Wars games are more miniature games (Armada & X-Wing) or are pretty heavy strategy games (Imperial Assault & Rebellion).
I don't think I could have said it better myself. I 1000% agree with you. The only thing I would add is, for someone like me who adores all things Start Wars, this is a must and I'll pay this over any of the other games in the same system. Yes, this and The Clone Wars "pandemic" board game are brilliant for introducing Star wars fans to boardgaming... Thank you so much for you comment. It's greatly appreciated. And thanks for watching!
I can see why this video has gotten so much attention. Excellent overview and entertaining final thoughts and wrap up, too! My favorite line was "It's kinda fun to destroy planets, yeah". LOL! Looking forward to what The Nerd Shelves brings us next!
Nice review though i think the game does it different enough that it`s worth having even if you already have the realm games. The home base system is radically different from realms and it ensures you can`t destroy the other players health in a single super turn. Once a base is destroyed your remaining attack is lost and the other player chooses a new base on their turn. This gives players more of a fighting chance when someone snowballs, especially as the bases can have really powerful abilitiies. Also the force is a pretty big for the extra effects it bakes into your cards when it`s on your side.
I agree with that 100%. While the system and core mechanics of the games are the same, there's enough difference to want both. Thank you for your comments. They're always greatly appreciated♥️
Whoa, Michael. I have watched your videos in the past. It was this particular video that got me to get Star Wars whenever that was. Nice to meet you today. Love the table!
Ha ha ha, yes, the long hair is for charity. I will be donating it to Wigs for Kids for children with cancer when it's long enough. The beard? Well that's just for fun😆... Thanks for watching! We always appreciate it.
This games sucks hard. Bought it and played in our group . First game was ok but fell off a cliff after that. Sold it nxt day to a Star Wars fan who has sold it again calling it a jar jar game..((
@@TheNerdShelves don’t be sorry you didn’t make it. Most annoying thing is they had a massive opportunity to make the star wars equivalent of lord of the rings lcg that is in a a second reprint and still going strong after soo many years. Annoying
YAY! I’m so happy you guys enjoyed it! I can’t wait to play it. I think it’s kinda funny they took Star Realms and added more to it, because that’s always been the FFG way - why have simplicity when you can have more? lol But this looks so fun and you guys did a great review!
Awww thank you Kenny. Ya, I'm not always a fan of adding extra "stuff" to an already great, filler game.... That said, the stuff they added was so thematic, it just felt right. Will everyone agree with me? Definitely not, and that's OK, but I love Star Wars so much that it was a great implementation of the the Star Realms' system.
Great, concise review guys. I’m going to have to pick this up. We just had a few games of Apex Theropod this weekend, but it’s a bear to set up. This one should be good for an after dinner deck building game during the workdays. Thanks for the review.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that😊. Ya, this one is really quite simple to set up, especially if you have the cards sorted when you put them in the box. There's an insert with a spot for rebel starting cards, a spot for the empire, then a deeper well for all of the other cards and the cubes under the cards. Pretty great actually.
No need for playmat. You can indicate a card has been used by tapping it (90 degrees like Magic TCG). Also, a 7.9? What's the difference between that and 7.5? lol.
It wasn't the cards after using their ability that was confusing, it was cards that were either committed to attack or have completed their attack, and still have an ability to be used... A 7.9 is almost an 8, but just not sure there... Yet? I feel like the game is a 7.5 but the theme bumps it up for me, but not quite an 8. Thanks for watching, and thank you for your comments♥️
Wow, loved the energy, the different points of view, the chemistry between you two, I had fun watching this video!! I might get the game later on, for now I can’t since I just had a little investment between Andromeda’s Edge and Age of Comics 😅 Awesome channel, subbed!!!
