AUSTIN, Why you fail me like this? (Also, this was an absolute treat to watch) This game is pretty solid, despite its obvious reskin of a really popular game.
Hahaha. I think this was actually more interesting. Balance was one of the complaints. The default may be a bit too random? So I enjoyed seeing what would happen.
@@29396 Star Realms. It's a total reskin with some extra details like the Force Track an such. But! As a huge fan of deck building games this is one of my favourites now cause the theme fits sooo damn good.
Quick reverence says that you immediately refill the galaxy row after you buy, bounty hunt, sabotage or buyoff a card. And also there is only a 6 cards in the galaxy row, not 10.
Played a half dozen plays of the game and I’m really enjoying it. It’s complex enough to be engaging without being overly convoluted or complex....definitely expecting expansions!
I have been a Star Wars fan from 1978, when I saw the first one. Expect for West End Games Star Wars 6D TTRPG, There was never any Star Wars tabletop games I really enjoyed. FFG has been hit and miss with Star Wars. Didn't like the LCG,or the CCG. Really like, but don't own, X-Wing,and Armada minis games. Love and own Rebellion and Outer Rim(with the expansions for both). Pre-ordered the Deck Builder after I saw some videos talk about it. Have not played it yet,but after reading the rules, I don't regret getting this game. Dose this game need a expansion or two, yes, but this is a good start for this game.
I really enjoyed it and there will %100 be expansions because, FFG and they didn't put Yoda or palpatine in the game. So my guess is the expansion that adds them will expand on the balance of the force
@@fan-i-am it was just a (bad) reskin of cold war: cia vs kgb (I believe) with very few changes. It was not popular, doesn't have good ratings, didn't sell particularly well. This game however, has been extremely popular, the buzz has been off the charts, It's been sold out everywhere I was trying to buy it but finally got my hands on it and it's getting not perfect reviews because it doesn't really do anything new, but it's just a solid fun experience with some cool mechanics added into standard deck building fare.
@@kevinsayers5985 yeah I know! I just kept the CIA v KGB rule for strategy cards. I like the simplicity of it with a couple of decisions to make. Great for teaching newer gamers. But yeah this new one is exactly what I wanted. In between EvR and the CCG.
The short version is I've watch three playthroughs of this game to see if I would want to buy it and in each video, multiple erros took place, and they are all different. It's just weird, like everyone just read the rulebook once to get the basic undertsanding, set the game up to play for the video and cruised through it. It's like FFG said here is this game, we really want you to show it off, also maybe here is this thing, and thanks. Completely making this up and it doesn't seem like it would be aligned with your nature, but it's strange each video from three different channels all got multiple different things wrong.
I will say, there is a very poor track record of me, trusting other people to teach a game and then getting a lot of things wrong 🙂 Don't get me wrong, I make mistakes too, but usually mine are smaller details.
I was recently introduced to Dune Imperium. Small break fire home remodel so no gaming for a month. Watching this video made me long more for that game than this implementation. Maybe because it is 4 players, maybe more because it has strategic and multiple methods for objectives. Basically I can imagine that board and playstyle implemented but in Star Wars. Therefore, I have mixed feelings on how I want to proceed, especially a 2 player game. Conflict of the mind. Thank you.
I've played a lot of Star Realms and Ascension using apps, but not the physical game. I got this because it looks like a neat twist and the larger row and asymmetric aspects seem a bit better than Star Realms. It's got a good little casual niche that works for my wife and I even a bit more than something like Radlands.
@@henrikwakman7776 Personal tastes really and assumption because I still need to table this one (basing more on Star Realms vs Radlands). But Radlands has a system that seems neat until a point in the game where it's fully top decking. The strategy to break a stalemate takes it out of being as casual experience and turns it into more of a frustration factor. The directness of Star Realms (Wars) with a larger pool of continuous options and more familiar ground of deck building is the real win for us.
Also there in no “spillage” that damages a base after you destroy a capital ship. Unless you have another card that hasn’t yet fired you cannot damage a base with the same damage that you’re taking out the capital ship with
This is incorrect, the official "how to play" video on FFG's channel shows that damage leftover after destroying a capital ship is applied to base damage. It's at 7:35 in the how-to video
