I'm pretty sure Ben being a war criminal would have put a damper on to his and Rey's happy ending. Even after he came over to the light he had to die. I mean he was complicit in millions of people being killed when Star Killer base pretty much destroyed the Hosnian System.

Ummmmmm...technically Ben wasn't a Skywalker he was a Solo. So, it wouldn't have been The Rise of Skywalker it would've been The Rise Of Solo.

If you follow that train of thought, then Han would have ended up in prison for smuggling, Poe would have been court martialed for disobeying Leia's orders, and Lando executed as a traitor and collaborator - this is - or was - a fairytale.

Just you wait for a sequel-sequel trilogy to come out. Then people will say they loved these movies, and that the new sequel-sequel is the one that ruined the franchise. (people have been saying "this killed the franchise" since the first spin-off's, so I take it with an ocean-sized sprinkling of salt every time I see it... Star Wars is just un-ruinable.)

The first sequel is actually ok. It would be better if Rey isn't very op though. Even so, I still prefer the EU (legends) continuity with Thrawn Trilogy and The New Jedi Order.

@@UntrainableWizard The problem with the prequel was the dialogue and far too much politics, but there was a clear story being told and a plan going forward along with care for Star Wars. George Lucas knew that by the end of the prequel trilogy he wanted Anakin to become Darth Vader. The Disney Shitlogy didn't care for Star Wars, only to make money off of it, and had no plan until The Last Jedi did horrible and they panic with the final movie. The Last Jedi felt like it was fighting with the Force Awakens, and the Rise of Skywalker felt like it was fighting with the Last Jedi to undo a lot that was done in that movie, introduced the main villain with no explanation as to how he was alive nor any set up of him being the main villain through the trilogy, and wrap up a poorly put together trilogy all in one movie while also trying to rip off Endgames army scene. You know a movie is terrible when the reveal of the main villain for the story is shown not in the movie, but in a Fortnite event and only spoken about in the title crawl of the movie.
