No doubt, if this was before the premiere, New York stations would have had a prerecorded V/O by Howard Reig saying something like, "Starts Wednesday at select theatres. Check newspapers for show times."

“The man who brought you ‘American Graffiti’”. To think he’d be known for so much more after this movie, to the point where American Graffiti is not even mentioned often by many anymore…. 😳
Speaking of Star Wars trailers, my bio-dad (who was working at a radio station in a small town in WV) cut a radio promo for the film's showing at the local theater in 1977 (there was no mall and thus no multiplex back then). Odfly, his promo said it was rated G...I wonder if that ws a preliminary rating (possibly from the scrubbed Christmas 1976 release) or what.
Actually it was pretty cheap, as 1-inch and 2-inch spots were distributed on what we referred to as "spot reels" -- small plastic reels about 8-inches in diameter, with just enough tape on there to cover the length that was needed. Probably about $1 each, in the quantities they had to buy.
@@VPR2B Can you upload the TV spots for Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983), please?
