You should also avoid loose sealed because the boxes are semi-mappable in the regular frame Legendary slot. Beyond the 1Ks you mention the big news recently on the competitive end was the 5K in Orlando which had a 1st place Vader control build with playsets of those Avengers and Vigilances. Those jumped a fair bit pretty much directly after that deck placed so highly. I do agree with Matt that Vaders have likely dipped some after these Vader-less (unit) decks have been placing so highly. Prior to that there were even top 8s that were all Boba-Green decks. Now that other decks are proven in the meta it means you don't HAVE to have them to compete at a high level whereas most people didn't think that was the case before.
Long story short. Bought a box at msrp to open for fun after watching these videos. Got some nice pulls. Dog destroys said nice pulls including hyperspace foil Mace. Very sad, mad at dog. Decide to buy $200 sealed booster despite wise advice not to. Open box. Pull Force Lightening, Foil Force Lightening, Hyperspace Force Lightening, Luke Skywalker, and Showcase Palpatine. Sad no longer, dog forgiven...
Pullrates of Cards even Rare are hard so even with a insane printrun there would not be enough to fill players best decks. It will be better with more Sets and Variants… Even for stores its difficult to fill up with Singles.
There being four variants of cards is interesting from a collecting side but keeping stock of essentially 900 different cards across the four variants and showcases, just for set 1, is going to be an interesting challenge for store to keep things in stock.
Foils in this game curl too much for my taste. I will keep a few foils I think look cool and will gladly trade the rest. The normal hyperspace cards is what I think I will chase.
Ha! They promised this time it would be different.. and yet here it is! FFG disappointing everyone from the get go. If the core set wasn't as good, I imagine people would have loat all faith in them by now.
People dont have time wait and nothing strange. It will be better with Set 2 and look at Pokemon displays selling out, insane prices and welcome to the world of TCG
It is different tho. Being able to do weekly limited events is great. People trade afterwards. We're seeing decent supply and extreme demand. Vs like destiny which was like 0 supply and low demand.
I found a few online shops. I can’t remember which exact shop I’m using for set 2 but kind of googled around. Found it for around $100 a box, which is a bit below MSRP.
Patience on product. FF has a bad rep, for good reason and this isn't helping. Once they get the product situation fixed that game will grow. Set 2 looks really fun!
I think there’s a difference between buying cards for you and friends to play with or collect and buying out every store in the area with the intent of flipping it on eBay. To each their own, I think long term success of the game is having widely available product. You might make a few bucks short term but go talk to the Lorcana scalpers that ended up with way too much product and no market for it.
@@boardmatt it’s just crazy to me to hear repeatedly about scalpers while some RU-vidr/ collector/store owners crack cases to flip themselves as if they are the only ones who can make a profit.
MetaZoo 2 incoming. This game won't get into year 3 without the bottom falling out and FF milking the SW fans again for a few more bucks. When it's all said and done, Star Wars Destiny will hole its value better than this game.
? How would that even be possible. Destiny barely functioned. It had constant errata, clunky collectability, clunky deck building, pretty much no alt art and just felt unbalanced as hell.
@@brandonabrams6885 You might find you are very wrong. After the rocky start , Destiny became the best CCG/TCG anyone who tried it had ever played. Up there with NetRunner. By the by anyway. Unlimited is woefully generic and lazy. Unfun and extremely unthematic. The art alone is a joke. The game has no reason to be played. It's Hearthstone with 2 board states that don't even have any variation. I stand by my statement, MetaZoo 2. Enjoy your worthless cardboard.
@@Frank-ro5bp Destiny was interesting. It was like a rules engine playground. And if it were an lcg where you buy packs and have everything you need to build and brew decks then fine. But as a TCG? I could open a whole box and not be able to put a deck together. Drafting was extremely flawed. The hero/villain split felt like you were collecting two separate games. And you had to buy tons of starter decks just to get second copies of good dice. You had devs changing fundamental rules to combat unintended combos. Oh and Z E R O forethought into storage of the friggin dice! And I actually LIKED THE GAME! I'm going easy on it here. SWU might not be as unique but it's 30x more functional in every aspect.
