Contestants: Amy & Julie Levinson vs Korey & Kerry Washington -- Playing Games: Food Fight, Congo Bongo, Zoar, Tron, Super Pac Man. Grand Prize: Stern's Journey Video Arcade Game
The arcade cabinet that was the prize in this episode is the rarest videogame of all time. It's "Journey" by Stern, and no known cabinet of it exists. Mind you, it isn't the game based on the band Journey - this is a completely different game from a different developer.
Saw this is back on TV again with the return of G4! Weird that we still don't have a modern day video game based game show. I guess eSports is kind of that in a way...
Apparently, the production company has at the very least shown interest in the idea of a revival for years, but only on the website and with no concrete plans in place. I hope they do revive this show someday. Maybe Shout! Factory, who (as far as I know; correct me if I'm wrong) now owns the rights can make it happen?
I was kinda wondering how this gameshow would've handled the later arcade titles with multiplayer capabilites like Gauntlet, or IKARI Warriors had the show not been canceled so soon. My guess is that therre would be more episodes with dual contestants like this one. However, I do remember Mario Bros getting featured here and that has multiplayer.
That would have been really interesting to see. If only the Game Crash of '83 would not have led to this show's demise, who knows how long this show would have aired? Maybe it would still be in first-run to this day.
yes, Galaga (7 shows - played 5 times) and Mappy(7 shows - played 6 times) appeared on several shows. 1942 which came out in 1984 was a war game so I think we had a game in Studio 2. But it never appeared on any show
Could you please upload all the episodes with Mary in it? I know on her earliest show, she played Pole Position, and she learned how to work the gear shift, shifting into high gear at the appropriate moment (when the speed gets to 130 mph).
we agree - Atari made lots of really great games - Food Fight! was one of them -- came out in April 1983 so it was a new game when this show was taped.
