This mission is getting a major balancing update with the next update (to make it more appropriately challenging). As you pointed out, balance is difficult. I think for a marauder achievement it would be better to make it limit your usage of marauders,like"don't build more than 5 marauders",it would be neat because you will use the them as much as you killed them.

I think the tip of "make sure you are ready to attack enemy base" points more towards the fact, that you are near the enemy base, not to the fact that you need to prepare. Then again it should probably just say something like "warning, you are approaching enemy base". EDIT: Now that I think about it, sometimes games tell you for example to use siege engienes to besiege the enemy base and it may not be so obvious if you for instance played a lot of Starcraft recently. Yes, something of that sort happened to me a long time ago ;)

It could also say"warning,you are aproaching an enemy base,if there is need to assault the base prepare your forces",so that it warns you to be cautious.

To get my ElevenLabs AI Mengsk to sound more emotional, I had to lower the stability on him. It sure sounded like a real person and even like Mengsk himself at times, but of course it's never going to achieve the peak performance James Harper would give. I suggest the map maker perhaps try to lower the stability on Stettmann or a similar function? Same goes for the rest of the characters in SC2, and just for all simulated voices: You can get really darn close, but it will never hit the spot like the imagination and the performance of a voice actor would.

The challenge with Stetmann is his voice is fairly dynamic and high-pitched so ElevenLabs keeps trying to use a female voice for him lol. But I totally agree, it'll never hit the spot perfectly. Next update should have a more lively Stetmann though. Making strides!

Along with the replayability from how achievements and the mission archive is structured, the way this campaign handles tech unlocks could make for a decent No Bonus Objectives challenge run once the campaign is completed. 8:12 re: tricks to make AI voice-over sounding a bit more natural, I've had a hunch that getting one competent-enough hobby actor to read lines, then using those "get AI celebrities/characters to sing songs" tools to use a character's voice over the "song" (recorded dialogue) might get decent results, given how surprisingly decent some of those AI song covers manage to be.

Rewards exploration, always a plus. And it seems anti-frustration features are there as well(in some form, at least). Stetman sounds more like disinterested/tired, while adjutant sounds about perfect(she IS ai herself iirc).

This campaign seems really cool,i mostly like the hero techtree and research techtree,this map had a cool exploration sistem with a long timer,i wonder if on hardest difficulty the timer is 15min instead of 22min.I don't mind AI voice acting,i don't understand why people don't like AI voice acting,it sometimes is uncanny but still its better than reading the text,did people forget about that part? Thats like saying i don't like pickles because they are sour.

Ironically Gary sounds way more life-like than Stetman here - but maybe the latter is just depressed or sedated by whatever drug problem Jay is talking about😄? I've never played the Nova missions, I assume that's where it's from

I suggest you play coop After WoL Stetmann basically got forgotten by everyone, in and out of the game, so they leaned on that for the Mist Opportunities mission where he appears If you don't want to play, I believe Jay have a video of his first time playing that mission.

That's the problem with AI,it can't mimic the emotions correctly so it sound uncanny and depressive.

Part of why stetman sounds so stilted is because there's only so much audio to work with. Part of why the Presidents Play format has exploded is that ypu have literally hundreds of hours of audio to teach the AI.

Yeah as you indicate towards the end, I think AI voicing is in a much more questionable ethical/legal place when you're replicating a specific person's actual performance, even in a free project like this. Not that I think the mapmaker is acting maliciously or anything, and frankly the voice here is still clearly nowhere near the level of the actual professional VA, but it is stepping into territory that I think is less clearly fine. Cool maps, though. I don't want to make it sound like I'm just sitting here and questioning that one aspect while ignoring all the work and already-impressive levels of polish that clearly went into these.

Absolutely agree. If given the opportunity, I would love to work alongside the official VA instead of using AI generation, even if this is just a free project. If the VA has any issues with the use of their voice in this project I would take it down and/or replace it. It is definitely a gray area and I want to ensure it is treaded carefully and respectfully for the VA involved. Currently I'm seeing it under the lens of: If it's fair use to take Blizzard assets, edit them, and use them in custom mods without ethical issues -- and Stetmann has many in-game voices/assets available, then together this translation of his voice *should* still remain in fair use. But again, I still want to ensure the VA is respected and I am actively trying to reach out to them just in case. I appreciate the comment!

@@SC2.TheCrystalShards I think that's a very respectable stance and I'm glad to hear you've thought about it. Frankly this is new territory for everyone, and it's probably gonna take some work to hash out how to navigate voice acting and AI going forward, especially for non-commercial passion-projects like this one. I'm heartened by your response, because, well, this is the internet, and it's very easy for people to divide themselves into "for" and "against." And I'm not even saying that's always inappropriate, but like... this technology isn't going away, and allowing more people to make creative works is objectively a good thing. I just also want to make sure we find a way forward that respects voice actors and doesn't threaten their livelihoods in the process. And it sounds like you want that too.
