Thanks, I thought that there were tons of different tutorials on the terrain editor judging by the "sc2 editor beginner tutorial" search result. But after watching some of them, no one seemed to have made a complete breakdown of the basic functions.
AMAZING tutorial, i've been WANTING Sc2 editor tutorials that are NEW forever now, specifically 2016, and your explainations are SUPERB compared to the much older and outdated editor tut's on youtube. PLEASE continue to do these and go in depth on the editor :).
I came for the tutorial, but I found my new desktop. Now I have to learn how to customize and configure this tool first, before I go on with the video. I had to search the comments first, because the software was not mentioned in the video description. You want to know as well? So search the comments... Just kidding : he is using rainmeter with the skin Neon Space for that nice looking desktop.
Very confused here. I am trying to create a standard melee map with 2 start locations for either players or A.I, But when I tested it out the game instantly ends with a Victory screen. :(
I want to make a Command and Conquer Map version of SC2. So you have to build buildings from you Nexus, Hatchery or Command Center. And Keybuildings that normaly unlock Unit types, like Cybernetics Core unlocks Stalkers for warpgates, can be trained there. And every thing seems to work, but i cannot get Mineralz to respawn after a certain time in a chosen location. I just couldn't figured out.
I know this is vid is old and maybe no one will see this, but I need to ask anyways. I just got into map making. I own all the downloadable content for this game. Whenever I got into a new map HOTS and Void are missing. When I try to manually go in and pick them the Editor says I don't own them, but I do. Is there a fix for this? Do I need to beat the chapters in game before unlocking the stuff in the Editor?
Hey I just found the solution to this. Apparently the Editor has its own login system. So you need to go to File > Manage Published... then log in there, after that I was able to start a new map with HotS and Void options. Hope that helps you and anyone else with the same issue.
Okay, I have a (maybe difficult) question, I duplicated a missile ability to make my own, and got it all working, but the missile is created much lower than the units 'centre', is there any way i can make the missile be created at a higher point? EDIT: the missile spawns basically at height zero, while i want it to be created at the height of the arms of my archon.
It depends on the type of missile you've duplicated. If the missile is launched via an 'Action' actor then you can attach the launch point inside the 'Launch Attachment Query+' field of the actor. Most of the time it looks just fine if you've chosen the 'Center' option, because most models have a 'Center' attachment point, but if you want it to launch from the archon's hand, then you have to find out what attachment point name the archon's hand has. To make it easier for you I can just tell you that it is called 'WeaponLeft', but if you want to know how to figure out what attachment points the model has then follow my steps: Go into the 'Models' section and find the Archon model. Go into the 'Model' field and press 'View In Cutscene Editor' (this will take a while to load). Once you're in there go to the top and go to Object -> Model Data. It will show you some data from the model, including the attachment points. To show where these attachment points are located on the model itself go to the top and go to Render -> Show Geometry -> Attachment points. If your missile isn't launched via an 'Action' actor then forget all of this I've written above. I don't think you can attach the missile without an 'Action' actor but you can always increase the height of the missile itself. If this is the case then go to your missile's actor and go into the 'Host Site Operation+' field. Add a new site operation (green plus) click choose and search for 'move'. All the 'SOp Move.....' are site operations that will either move the missile up, down, or to the sides. I use these methods ALL THE TIME because it makes your game look more visually pleasing. Hope it helps :)
Can you do a tutorial about the campaign stuff When I add the campaign stuff my barracks just get mess up I want it to be the same like in the multiplayer
I have a slight problem with starting positions, if i click once it creates two of them at the same location and occasionally when i start the map the hostlile spawns direclty besides me, hilfe plz . if i delete one it deletes both...
Any chance of Blizzard giving the editor the ability to make standalone game? I mean I am very proficient with both Galaxy and World editor, and if I could release a standalone game using it, crediting and giving blizzard some royalties, that would be so awesome.
Not likely. I've thought about the same thing a couple of times, because the editor is powerful enough and has a lot of potential, but it just won't make any sense for Blizzard. It would steer players away from the original game and they'll lose a ton of players.

How do we just update an old map to sc2 ? can we play sc1 maps in sc2 ? Some Just Remake Gang wars and Gang wars tournament 1.55 ... Cube d - would be nice also ( Cube defense , Cube d SE , Cube D NE ) preschool wars was cool too
My issue with all of this is: I cannot even find where the maps are in this damn game to start editing. I go to starcraft 2/maps and that shit be empty. I just want to edit a map and then see if it works. BUT NOOO.. blizzard gotta come with that nonsense to make everything either hidden or stored somewhere i would never look.
I am sorry, your video is amazingly helpful however the amount of times you say "uh" and "um" is also amazingly annoying and hard to follow, maybe write a script or something before the video
