If you have a ship with a lot of cargo space, you can make that ship your home ship, transfer a buttload of stuff into it, then go back to having your favorite ship as a home ship, and all that stuff will be transferred to the smaller ship automatically, even if it's WAY more than the ship can hold. This does not affect the ship in any way, other than not letting you put anything else in it, obviously. You can do this every time you want to unload your character's inventory.
What confused me is that I found a ship on a planet on Kapteyn 1 and found a woman and her pet but I thought the ship was abandoned until I saw it as a option to steal it but I went into a abandoned mine and came back out and it registered it as my home ship even though it's not my ship. Is this a glitch?
Put a single bar of power on missiles. Missile Regen takes way too long even at full power, but there’s no penalty for running at minimum. Missiles are great burst damage… so it’s worth running them on dim.
Doesn't the damage increase with power though? Shields and engines definitely do (increase in strength with power) and I just assumed the weapons all do as well. They only do 100% damage when at full power?
@@jemal999 Yeah I tested after posting and it's true for everything EXCEPT Missiles. Instead of damage, the more power you put in increases the reload rate instead. So basically you can spam them quicker at full power as the refill faster but they'll do the same damage regardless. It seems that way anyways.
Best weapons for starter ships are 4x Particle Beam (Disruptor 3340 Alpha Beam). Uses the full 12 power you can allocate to one weapon group, has 3500 reach, damages shields and hull the same and with full power delivered it shoots very fast without the need for cooling/refreshing inbetween. You can keep firing forever, it melts everything. Don't need anything else except maybe missiles with 1 power allocated for flavor.
@@alphawolves8809 It's true, but I hesitate to call it a good ship. For its size and mobility, its cargo hold capacity is rather low, as the ship has lots of small capacity holds instead of the larger, more space/mass efficient ones. In addition, the ship has a staggering 2800 units of fuel, which is horrendous overkill - remove all but one of them, which will shave off a lot of mass for more mobility, cargo capacity, or both. On top of that, the ship is a maze and a half and needs a serious hab redesign to not get lost trying to get to the cockpit or relevant Habs.
It's easier and cheaper to redesign the Kepler than any other ship due to it starting with high end parts. Instead of building your own from scratch (which is expensive) or redesigning a npc ship (mid range parts so it can also be expensive) redesigning the Kepler is the fastest and most cost effective method.
@@DatMageDoe if you view it as a collection of high level free parts though, it's pretty great. You can completely disassemble it and rebuild it however you want after you get it.
Not only does personal atmosphere refresher O2. As long as it's active you can't lose O2. You can even take your helmet off with it active and you'll be completely fine no matter the environment.
I had no idea you could charge the novablast. Almost every day I’m finding new little systems in the game. It’s a lot more intricate than it seemed at first glance.
I've been trying to find actual good info on starfield, you are 100% the best for guides and builds for bathesda, I've watched others , and you are way ahead with actual good, informative, to the point and non exploit information. You make it obvious which youtubers do vids to ride the hype train ,money and views , and who does vids because they love and are passionate about the game they are playing. Nice job
I’m with you, Waifu! This is my go-to guy for ALL builds in the games I play. As an older female gamer (Shirley Curry only has 20 years on me!), I go for the less “murder-y” builds, and those are presented here without the derision that generally accompanies them from some of the younger/gung-ho gamer dudes. Keep it going, my man!
This. I've seen dozens of videos that have the same "secret" tips, and it's all crap that any braindead goof will discover in a could hours of just playing naturally. I've played 70 hours and actually get some good info from most of the vids on this channel.
Okay, most useful thing I pulled from this was to pick up all guns for the ammo. Makes sense, but I never thought of that. Hate to think of how much ammo I've left in guns now.
The power that i used the most was the one that allowed me to see all life because usually in dark environments, its extremely difficult to see the enemies, especially behind covers. So that power was pretty much a spam use for me in every fight.
to add a number 8: One thing I wish I knew sooner was the next Fudgemuppet build and when it would be out... that would be something I would like to have known sooner.
2:15 - Actually you can carry ANY amount of cargo. Just run, use all O2, all CO2, then just keep pressing sprint and you will start loosing health, but you WONT die. It will stop at like 10-15%, so you can just sprint anywhere you want. (you can use this to level healing, weight, regen and 02 talents)
@@Mrhappyface52 any time I move - regardless of speed - while encumbered, my O2 is drained. Perhaps you have a spoiler talent thing involved? I haven't progressed to powers yet.
@@draeathI don't know why that would be because he's right if you walk slower or at least not a full Sprint you won't lose o2 UNLESS you're blatantly heavy it seems the heavier you are the more o2 you lose
@@draeathif you only slightly move the stick you don’t lose anything and actually gain it back slowly as if you’re stationary. He is correct it works while doing a light jog I did it like 100 over the other day.
Do the Ranger questline, you'll have a ship that can last the entire game. I've upgraded mine to have 5k cargo and it will be upgraded well through B and C as well for little money, giving you even better space and manouvrability. Then use particle weapon that damage hull and shield at once, saving energy. Only one weapon type (and maybe a suppressor that you don't give power normally)
Yeah on my first playthrough I got the star eagle a little late and realized I'd been missing out so on my 2nd it was the first thing I did lmao that ship is waaaay to good plus you can pretty much delete all the Habs it comes with and replace them with one's uou want/need for relatively cheap
I found your channel through a good friend who's much more into Fallout than I am, but I have been playing Starfield a lot lately and your videos are both useful and give us something to enjoy together. Thanks for that 😊
How do you feel about not being able to fly in atmosphere? Have you played games like NMS or Star Citizen? Not being a dickhead, I’m just surveying this community about past experience with space games, cos having played other space games I’ve found this one to be unenjoyable. What is it that let’s you play and enjoy SF?
@@Degenevesting I have to agree with Vloqy, this wasn't meant to knock NMS out the sky, this was supposed to be Skyrim: Space Edition. As someone who didnt play the older games as much, and am a huge non single player person, this game is pretty relax and I will continue sinking a hundred hours building my ship to fight other ships.
@@Degenevesting i played no mans sky for about 70 hours before starfield released, the whole space flight into atmosphere schtick with NMS is great for the first few hours but gets old very quickly. i found myself wanting a fast travel in nms beyond the space station teleports and starfield gives me one i can use anywhere. nms as a whole gets very old once you've seen the initial basis of all the content because you've already seen all there is to it. derelicts are one of two variations, animal and plant life are just templates mashed together, once you have a good spaceship all you do is upgrade that one, and while bethesda storytelling is generally just okay at least it HAS a story, unlike NMS. nms lost me once i realized it's entire gameplay loop consists of picking up rocks to fuel your ship so you can pick up more rocks. i'll stick with starfield, thank you
Not sure if you'll see this or not - but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos :) I started watching you on my old yt account almost a decade ago now... seeing the channel crank out new content with the same energy and passion to this day is so awesome. Wishing you the best and continued success for many more years!
i like having my 3rd ship weapon being a ton of missile launchers and just having 1 power pip in them. the power doesnt effect their damage just reload, so i still get to fire a full clip of missiles in combat, it just wont recharge during the fight
You can also find certain magazines in randomly generated things like abandoned mines, bio labs... and science towers. Only about half have fixed locations it seems.
I have six or seven copies of Mining Monthly 01 because of that. Not sure if that is intended or not and, while I get the message when I find the duplicates, I can't really tell if I'm getting the bonuses since they don't seem to be listed anywhere.
@@ryanmitchell4426 Yah... There should not be duplicates. I think there is a mod that shows all your bonuses. They probably do not stack. I was worried about that as about half or so of the magazines are from random locations. I have 43 magazines right now. I have only found a few of the random ones. I just finished getting all my powers. Sadly I have not been able to get mods working yet. I am thinking of going with a full sniper build next with Likely 2 Athletics, 4 Stealth, 4 Gymnastics, and 4 Concealment... plus Jet Pack, Pilot, Persuasion, and Security. Then the rest in weapons likely. I am not dumping points into base, crafting, commerce, or starship building this time. I first thought Stealth was horrible because I could never get stealth kills, but the higher levels are pretty good and Concealment stacks on top of that. I am struggling with Gymnastics though because level 2 requires 5 zero G kills and those are not common late game. I will have to start this all much sooner.
One little secret I've discovered is... At the beginning, before your character creation when you are mining with Linn and Heller. When Heller is talking about strange gravity readings, instead of going up that little incline, instead, go to the left and down the slope. At the bottom, hug the right wall until you see a discoloration in the rock that doesn't look like the surrounding rock. Blast it open with your cutter and inside, you'll find a souvenir NASA cup and a few nodes of Europium to mine. Also, while you're down there, you can look around and find some Neodymium to mine.
For the weapons power thing I am pretty sure the game is encouraging you to allocate power as you need it, not just once. So you could have power to 1 or 2 weapons most of a battle and swap as needed.
Adjusting power mid battle is kinda tricky though. It takes your attention away from the battle itself for a couple seconds, which at least with my ship setup, is probably gonna cost more potential damage output than it'll gain by optimizing my weapons
tbh i just go with two suppressors, four missile launchers and four shield breakers the missiles are outrageous amounts of burst damage if i want to wipe something from the face of the galaxy, the lasers do half decent damage on their own but those EM suppressors are for when i wanna board a ship or just leave a particularly tanky, annoying large ship floating in space with no guns on it while i chip away at it.
The EM weapons are wonderful to level up the Concelement skill. Knock someone out, crouch, equipe a melee weapon and boom... guaranteed sneak attack and a +1 towards the next level of Concelement.
Probably the easiest way to do space combat is use particle beam weapons and turrets. Place the turrets facing the side or rear, this’ll catch any ship passing or chasing you. Then place your particle beam weapons together into a quasi main cannon or cannons. Don’t know if particle beam turrets benefit from both turret skill and particle beam skill but you don’t have interact with them at all so best used as a tail gunner
Big tip: Dont worry about loot too much! because of the NG+ design it's not worth hoarding weapons you wont use in the short term. Only start hording stuff after you've beaten NG+ enough times to be comfortable (10 is the max for leveling up powers)
The fact that there’s 1 million how to and tips videos on this game shows how truly amazing it is. All the negativity towards the game is honestly sad because this game is absolutely epic and incredible.
You can hold right click with a cutter to "Focus" the beam for quicker mining and more damage (think spinning up a minigun) this actually makes heller's cutter a great weapon for early to mid game on the easier difficulties.
Tip for stolen weapons in particular: Place stolen weapon on a weapon rack in your house (have yet to test if this works outside your house) and put it back in your inventory. You will find that the stolen weapon tag is gone.
Theres a unique but unamed EM Equinox you get from Atlantis security in one of the Vanguard missions. Its got a really neat sky blue metallic accent. I feel like alot of people are ditching it not realizing what they have. It even combines with the Constellation weapon skin if you have it equipped.
To be specific without being too specific(spoilers) an officer will ask you to pick up an em rifle off the ground. Thats the one you'll notice the difference immediately. You should rename and favorite so you dont accidentally toss it. Its as good as any em weapon and looks beautiful, infact for me its the only unique EM weapon Ive ever seen. Have fun people!
In case of people looking for more EM weapon, pacifier is also a good candidate to mods once you have skills for it. The damage conversion to EM is not as harsh as other weapon and critical headshot with it will knock out any legendary very hard enemies quick opening them to sneak attack melee. Advanced pacifier is very hard to drop from my experience tho, especially when you looking for with limb perk and extra damage ones. Good forbid you to have spacer mods on them lol
@@draeath Oh you cant? You can in other Bethesda games. I could be wrong. I just mentioned that cause I thought it would help. I just favorited mine and am careful when selling.
I spent 2 hours today looking over the detail work of the inside and outside of the starter ship.. Lots of interesting and cool details that make decent sense, and a few handfuls of things that are kinda moronic but funny. Time well spent :D
i mean you just do 2 weapons and a missile launcher and you put 1 cube into it , itll still fire all the missiles it just takes ages to recharge so good to use at the start of combat to get a big chunk of damage or at the end once their shields are broken for a big boost of hull damage
You may already know that most or all ship skills can be gained in the UC Vanguard simulator. Use the same skills as the sim to complete challenges quickly.
I adore this game, but i wish there was more to do outside of the faction and main questlines. It'd be cool if we got like a top ten quests video or something
@@Guts956 yeah I just wish there was more, I loved the side questlines in fallout 4 for example, the one where you help out the family living in the mansion and you meet their crazy superpowered father. Hoping there's more in the dlc
@@redvexxe9219just explore, I found a whole quest line that involved helping 4 families of homesteaders that turned into getting rid of the spacers in that system
Late to the party, but here's a few tips if you prefer controller. 1) Set jump to clicking the left stick and crouch to right stick click. Just do it, it'll be weird at first, but makes things so much easier. Can aim faster when flying, and eva is so much easier to control. 2) Change ship weapons to LT, RT and LB. Keep thrusters on RB. 3) Set sprint to LB and power to RB. Grenades to LB+RB. Encourages much more power use. Plus having two buttons for grenade feels like pulling the pin and throwing for RP reasons. B for punch. I know I have more that make the game so much better, but can't think of them atm.
There is a visual queue for the EM Weapons/Drilling weapons, your cross hair will visually get closer together or change completely when the shot is ready at its maximum! :)
Small tip to expand on ship swapping for overflowed cargo so if you have a ship with 10k cargo fill it and swap to a ship with 400 cargo the 10k will go onto the smaller ship as some of you may know. But make sure you have an ample amount of ship parts as you won't be able to pick any up which can make repairing your ship in combat a hassle.
Another thing you wish you knew is: you want only one ship weapon and that is particle beams. Especially early on when you don't have enough power for two weapon systems. Particle beams do decent damage against both shields and hulls.
Early in the game (> level 25) just put particle beam weapons everywhere on your ship. It deals massive damage to both shields and hull, so it just chews through enemy ships.
About the ship weapons… just turn engine all the way down, you don’t need your engine all too much in ship battles and you can easily max out sheild, missles, and the other two types of weapons all at the same time and use them all at the same time. Destroy any ship in seconds
The razorleaf is the best ship to add on to because you’ll still get called out as the mantis and some spacers, ecliptic, crimson fleet will give you dialogue realizing the mantis is after them.
Another tip i found helpful is not every legendary and epic gun doesn’t mean it’s better than a rare or uncommon gun, the only way you’ll get super high physical damage gun is by looting and opening the hexagonal sphere chest you get after taking over an enemy facility or after a big story mission. Going to planets with abandoned outpost are one of the best ways to have a good firefight and you can go to different planets for hours looting really good guns but obviously try and go to higher level systems
One trick I found out through personal experimentation is this. Cycle your weapons if you're using auto-weapons. This also probably applies to single-shot weapons, but not nearly to the same degree. Let me explain. Instead of firing both at the same time and having down periods where you aren't pumping out damage, fire one when the other is low and let the depleted weapon recharge. Rinse and repeat and you will have better results, generally, than if you just pumped the damage out in one go. The moment I figured this out I went from dying or losing all my parts every single combat I was in, to usually scraping by.
EVERY time you get the same power after you start new game plus you rank up the super powers all the way up to level 10. it will change the name of your power to "POWER level II all the way to POWER level X" and each upgrade considerably changes each ability
If you add a couple Habs with a lot of containers that can hold things and use a cockpit with a captains locker... you can store a bunch of stuff in those containers then modify your ship(literally just add a plate or change paint or something and save) and it'll auto store all of that stuff into your cargo hold.... regardless if you're already maxed out(similar to just putting a bunch of stuff in the cargo hold of a ship with a ton of storage then switching to a smaller storage ship, just without having to switch ships). Conversely you can literally just... drop it all on the floor of your ship and modify your ship and itll pull everything into the cargo hold the same way.
I bought the Rambler, and discovered that a ship having only two weapons (in this case particle beams and missiles) actually does work really well. I loved the Rambler so much that with my pirate character I instantly bought the Haunt (a pirate version of the Sparrow class) when I got the chance, and with my UC character I changed out the Frontier’s weapons replacing the lasers with particle beams and the projectile weapon with an EM weapon, which I always keep powered down except on the rare occasion I want to capture a ship, effectively making it a two weapon ship mostly (since I rarely use it, the EM weapon gets the Y button on my controller - I prefer using the controller even though I play on the PC).
You can install 3 weapon types on ship, and completely disable one of them in power levels. I have turrets which automatically start firing on enemies in combat. I keep them at zero. Unless i get into a firefight with multiple ships. I positioned these cannons at both the front and back of the ship. I only turn them on when i’m in a situation with lots of ships attacking. It’s amazing in that case.
You can get a free nova light disrupter if you get like 5 or 6 missions into the Ryujin quest line. I found that I could only incapacitate people after 2 charged shots. One non-charged shot does nothing, and one charged shot can incap an unsuspecting armored NPC.
Those alt buttons have to be assigned to a certain original button. Defeating the purpose. I think. Cause i actually didnnt understand how he got to do the forward thrust. But those paddles on the back can he handy for sure. Specially for allocating power during flight. Since you get 4 profiles and can change then easily. One can be for space combat, etc
I wish I knew that "Into the unknown" quest will bug out on me and anything I tried would not fix it. Decided to skip it with console command and it bricked the game so I could not get powers from the other temples anymore + deleted my old saves except the quicksaves. It just works... right Tod.
That jump tech could be with how the game reads input and few other variables, maybe you could replicate it by switching the jump button to a different button on the controller?
@@vloqy Im seeing players bitching about it nonstop and Ive seen their evidence. Its clealy an issue either you got the best possible hardware or you're lucky. This dudes a new player who doesn't even own hardware and you want him to build a pc that can run a brand new Bethesda game flawlessly? Lol Just giving the most logical advice I can. Theres no need to jump to the games defense, obvious I think its a good game overall which unfortunately for us all is a very rare thing these days.
I only have 8 hours of gameplay and this is more of a bug, but I’ve learned your cargo hull capacity doesn’t mean much. I’ve only did this on New Atlantis but If you’re over encumbered you can drop items on your ship, obviously. But if you’ve dropped stuff on your ship and go to the ship upgrade guy at the port and upgrade your ship, doesn’t matter which one it will store everything in the ship in the hull. My storage capacity looks like 1000/450 on my frontier
Gathering Survey data is a fun side activity. That said, its a horrible way to make money. If you want to make some legit credits, go to any mission board and take a mission that leads you to a facility. Loot everything. Not just credits and ammo, but everything you can pick up. You'll be encumbered anyways so just go for it. While going through the facility walk until you get into combat. Drink some water if you think you'll run out of stamina before the fight ends. Honestly, it isn't really an issue. Then run back to your ship, and walk when you're stamina runs out. Honestly being over encumbered in Starfield is very easy to manage. You're mobility is still good, it just requires you to manage your stamina. The only problem you'll run into is hitting up multiple vendors to sell all the loot. Most major vendors only have 5k credits. Some minor vendors have less than 2k. Gun Dealers have the most credits (well, ship vendors actually have more) so you should hit them up first and sell all those guns you picked up. A good habit to pick up is buying ammo for your favorite gun to give the vendor a few more credits to buy all your junk whenever you go to unload your massive haul. The credit part becomes more of a problem as you hit higher level enemies and the weapons they drop get more valuable.
Can you make a top ten side quests video? I’ve only found 3 interesting mission chains outside the main story and action quests. Groumdstompers, The Crucible, and the ECS constant quests are cool. Otherwise it’s alot of one and done missions.
some of those powers are dope as shit, there’s a power that essentially acts as a cutter. if you use the power near ANY resource it’ll automatically pull that resource and put it in your inventory
This more of a glitch/ exploit: When in ship build mode - if you dont like looking at the weapons that sometimes do not get painted over or are tired of seeing your ship look like a hedgehog and want to hide all those armaments… Using the Flip (z)/Flip (z)/Cancel (tab) method can help you hide those weapons. Note: 1. that the pieces that can do this are the only ones that give you the flip option and can connect with each other 2. The Flip (z)/Flip (z)/Cancel (tab) method can only be used on pieces selected from menu or copied version that has already been “set down”. Using the Flip (z)/Flip (z)/Cancel (tab) method on a freshly copied piece will only be deleted. On my Star Destroyer MK III build has ZERO gun mounts visible, with only the EMP weapons (ION Cannons XD XD) visible on the hull and missile launchers also hidden under the curved structures. 3. Not all weapons can use this as if it’s too big, it will clip outside the structures. As I am a stickler to cosmetic looking ships - seeing clipped guns through the hull would drive me nuts. -
I don't know if it was already said, but when you are playing on controller and sprinting, doing the jet boost automically launches you forward like the alt jump on keyboard. Atleast, it does for me
I disagree on number 3. There is some parts of it I do agree on, especially that players should not waste skill points on different weapon types, but instead just slap 2 weapons of same type on front, and turrets on back to defend your rear as 3rd weapon. Main weapon can be whatever, but if 2nd and 3rd weapon are regular non turret weapons, at least if they are automatic(fast firing type with a clip) it's good backup weapon even with only one point allocated since they allow you to fire multiple times anyways. Also rear mounted weapon is also fine with only one reactor point so it's not like that 3rd weapon draws noticeable amounts of power or anything.
I didn't use powers until my 2nd play through. I didn't get any I liked my first. But now on my third I've got like the clone where there's another one of you. And the 3rd level and that is super good and the slow time for all or single is really fun.
Lol I focused a particle weapon and an em weapons. Particle does both shield and hull damage so you only need it to blow ships up. The em can be used to disable ships.
3 damage types on your ships are worth it, even if you use it with only 1 power point especial weapon systems like missiles. All the energy is for is reloading the weapons or decreasing the cooldown, so you will be able to fire a full volley of missiles for massive burst damage with just a single power point investment, the reload will be relatively long though.
Boostpack skating will not be a thing on Xbox until mods come out for it, you can do it on PC with controller if you use rewasd and map your controller to MnK inputs. Also it’s an easy mode to make for PC someone will come up with it soon enough.
you can sell planet data?? that was news to me... now i just have to remeber on wich ship i dropped a ton of data slates... dang.. going to be another long night starfielding... thanks!! great video!
Everyone seems to be favoring particles over lasers and I can understand why (like if you are only running two weapons a lot of people want particles as one of them so you can damage both shields and hull) but one thing to keep in mind is the faster you get the shields down the faster you start damaging ships systems. Like when the shield goes down you start doing damage to their weapons systems and their engines etc. Basically making their ship an ever worse version of itself. Anyway it’s an argument for lasers and shield destroyers.
I use a laser and missles as primary weapons, em as a third for disabling ships for boarding. EM weapons wont destroy the ship so pretty useful for stealing your enemies ships
If you want to level faster, just set difficulty to the hardest difficulty up in space, than land on a planet with wildlife. Then higher level creatures will load, then when you exit the ship set the difficulty down to the easiest (to save ammo). Then just go to town killing wildlife.
Another pro tip, as far as ship weapons go invest in partical beams. Lasers, cannons, and missiles don't even come close to the dps the partical type weapons put off.
I think the catch is that particle weapons don't damage the enemy's hull until their shields are totally down. It's actually higher dps to use laser for shields and then ballistics for the hull, but particle beams are a good compromise that allows you to minimise swapping weapons and adjusting power levels which probably gives you a significant edge.
@@SineN0mine3 partical weapons are guaranteed dps no matter shields or hull, allowing you to spend less skill points. They also have the best range, and turret options. They are the best ship weapons in the game unless bethesda does a rebalance.
I recently started wprking with the crimson fleet for their faction quests. If you accept boynty board misssions to kill them after friendly you can just walk into any of their bases or ships and just steal everything lol. Its a great way to get easy loot lol.
"You ship has limited places where you can put weapons..." True UNTIL you realize under the Structures Tab you can not only build windows but also EQUIPMENT PLATES. These act as hardpoints for weapons and such. Enjoy.
You can like 4-5 weapons of each type on your ship and it’ll up the damage. You don’t need to just upgrade it by buying pieces , go to ship builder and add them all
So I don't know who needs to hear this but the planets are explorable to meaning that you can explore a whole you just got to take your time. See how this works is that you are a tethered to your ship and if you go too far you will get a message saying some type of boundary but it's just you being tethered to your ship but check this out. You can land your ship on different parts of the planet and open up that planet even more to explore. If you touch down on a planet you can explore it to the fullest you just got to land your ship into another area of the planet
One tip on the weapons. Laser Auto torrets should be your 3rd weapon. They can face any direction. It appears they can't be purchased till latter game. I bought a C ship at Neon ( the luxury ahip shop people) with them for its reactor, but it's been the best surprise. I have one on each side and 1 at the rear I leave them with a few points of charge. Ships like to fly close past you on attack runs to avoid getting hit. This is usually a trap for them now. When they do these torrets obliterate them with out me even having to turn and follow or aim.
I dunno, I tried them and they just weren't that useful. It's easier to just whip around and keep the enemy ship locked than hope an auto turret will catch it on a flyby.
In the video you said that there's very limted weapon slots... well thats half truth... you can go to Tayio Engineering in Neon Core and put Equipment Plates on the top of the ship modiles or cargo and use those as weapon mount slots... so you can add a lot of weapons to the top or bottom. You find them under Structural. I think its the only ship parts vendor that sells those.
Thank you for the discussion on EM weapons. I look forward to role playing as an explorer scientist with surveying, botany, zoology and other science skills. And carrying the Novablast Disruptor EM weapon for a pacifist play through!
@@Sporeboy87 Loot is everywhere. Don’t care for it. Essentially as a scientist your job is to survey planets. Add your skill points into Scanning, surveying, zoology, botany, xenobiology and geology. I've built a few small outposts that help feed my decorating, modding and general crafting addiction. I am also hooked on space combat and now am fairly good at it. I have a nice house on a lush planet where I hoard all my contraband for when I go full pirate later on in the game. I've started decorating that too but as yet 4 rooms are empty. I explore planets and just survey moons. I'm at lvl 22. Gaining XP from fighting during exploration, base building and surveying. Again no quests done!
I wish I knew there are some game-breaking glitches in this game. Like the one on mission "No Sudden Moves". If you leave The Scow without completely finishing the mission after you have already talked to the captain, you will get locked out of the ship, preventing you from completing the mission and the rest of the campaign. At least if you are locked out, you can go do other sidequests, but there have been cases where other players were locked in.
Personally, I like using EM weapons in my 3rd slot. I don't have to put any power into them if it's a real scrap, but it's nice having the option of using them.
Trade Authority vendor in Neon buys contraband and stolen goods. As an extra bonus, the security base there has lots of confiscated contraband for you to steal. ^_^
