I've added a complete shipbuilding walkthrough of this ship for those who are interested. Check out the video here! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SDi1VMz8bW8.html
I love this build! It's jumped straight to No.1 as the best all-rounder I have in my exclusively Class C ship fleet, thanks to the super-compact design fulfilling crew, cargo and speed requirements. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! This is my favorite so far as well. I'm currently putting on the finishing touches on an even smaller variant of this ship that will have over 8000 cargo. Stay tuned!
Thanks! The engines were the hardest part to figure out and I went through about 20 different engine combos and configurations before I 'discovered' the side mounting with the Deimos wing.
I built a ship "inspired by" this one (I added a workshop below), and this little thing was zipping all over the star systems in no time! Now that I can't gun-run anymore with the patched glitch, there really wasn't a need for massive amounts of cargo space. My mistake was thinking you needed all Class-C stuff to have an excellent ship. Earned yourself a sub with this one.
I have a 26m wide 28m long C class with 8765 base cargo, 100% mobility and a 30ly jump range, 4 crew from the cockpit, with Sarah adding a freebie I also run with Vasco, Sam, Barrett and Omari because if were honest they are the only useful crew. I also trim the habs down to a 3x1 berth for a bed (my and a workshop for the occasional upgrade. I don't make pharmaceuticals or display weapons and this particular min/max C class isn't built for pleasing aesthetics. The only big compromise that I made is reducing the C class shield down to the 1500hp B class, and I guess if you don't like ladders the fact that it is 6 levels tall off the ground (5 internal levels) could be a downside for some. This ship is part of my Tiny Terror build group so is always being messed with and, since I still have 16 mass to play with before any mobility loss, I suspect it will be modified a bit more in the future.
I have a version of this ship that has 9015 cargo while still maintaining 100 mobility. Check it out here! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Oyhep7MJaqY.html&t
@@LastMumzy Yeah restricting my build to the 3x3 base size with no overhangs other than 1 meter for the engines, does mean adding extra weight with some sub-optimal parts to get the right connections. I have a 26x32 that is pushing closer 9.5 but only by cutting out the jammer and shielded cargo (not that I actually use them anyway since I don't pickup contraband).
@@LastMumzy I would also note that I don't actually use them either. I have a C class with 2130 base cargo, 0 protected running twin 6830's. 52 equipped power with 48 effective on tap lets me run 11 power to the PBO-175's and 95 MeV's and 10 to the Obliterators and I've found that gives them an almost equal recharge finish time. Out of curiosity, have you tried running particle turrets? If so, how did you find them? I've been considering swapping out the 95's for the 250MeV turret on my daily C class but I'm still not sure.
I find that daimos is for more compact ships, Stroud for more luxury larger ships and hope for cargo tanker like ships... I don't know with taiyo as I dislike their interior so I avoid them
IIRC the Cabot bridge they're using comes from the New Homestead ship tech, in the Sol system (on Titan, moon of Saturn?). Same place you get the monster costume. There's a couple little quests to do there, but no player ever needs to go there. But it's basically the best cockpit/bridge in the game as it has stairs, meaning depending on how you lay our your habs, you don't need ladders.
Nice, you have great taste, I built this ship design about 2 months ago (with cheaper parts on a jacked Claymore III) and I have yet to find anything even remotely better. It's as if you saw my ship design from my living room. lol I'll reference this guide for part locations when I finally decide to upgrade my ship all the way with the best parts. 😎👍 (SUBBED and book-marked).
Hax! OP, nerf!!! It's actually pretty nice. I'd swap the smaller cargos for shielded ones. At least 1-2. Other than that, great use of attachment points
Its a great ship. We need better habs, honestly. Single habs with same features as larger ones. And the 2 x 1's need a total overhal. There's a huge walkway in each of them. Ships both naval and space make use of maximum space this game really dropped the ball there.
I like the fire power and storage capacity, but I think I would swap out one of the control centers for a workshop to get workbenches. You have a crew capacity of 10, but you can only have max 8 on your ship.
Yep whatever works best for you. I use the workbenches at the Lodge since it has the unlimited resource container right next to them. Thanks for watching the video!
Wow very nice! I’m just a lv 30 player, not much experience yet with ship building. Can you get all these parts at the same vendor - on what planet did you build it? And what skills at what tier do you need to build this ship?
I'm a simple Mumzy...and I have no idea what the credit glitch is 😞 Lol maybe I need to look that up because grinding for money eight hours a day for the last month is getting a bit old TBH.
this ship is insane for the size!!! Its not a very roleplay friendly ship with the limited habs, but you could imagine this being scrambled from a capital ship for pure F^%kary!
I'm avoiding making really big ships until Bethesda allows for the custom placement of door and ladders of the interior habs. All my attempts at large ships have turned into labyrinths inside.
I think I got the gears from New Homestead, the landing bay from the ship seller inside the building at Hopetown, and most everything else from the staryard at Deimos.
I gotta start stealing ships and selling them. I just can’t get into crafting for cash and hauling loot is just time consuming chore, but fun at times!! I want another way to supplement my income so I can build my own kick ass ships! Lv 77 and just starting to get into Spaceship Design. Takes so long to earn new skill points at this level!
As you said, you get five points from the Aneutronic Fusion skill. You can get up to three more by using the companions Sam (+1 power to engines) , Omari Hassan (+1 power to shields), and Vasco (+1 power to use in any system you choose).
Thanks! I hope you like it. I've already released an improved version that increases the base cargo to 8325 / 14423 (skill cargo) while maintaining the same size. You can view the Mark II here! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Opb3W_8GyKY.html
I am lost. Forgive me. How do i get all this ? like..i have the Cabot c3 only available if i am in a certain system. If i go to another vendor in another system. its no longer available to install. How do i buy parts without buying a ship that maybe has the part? Can any port my own base be used to build.
I call it a Frankenstein build. You essentially have to start at one place, for example New Homestead on Titan and buy gears and the cockpit. Since you can't save the build unless the ship is complete you have then put the cheapest crap possible on it to get it flying so you can go to the next port and get the specific items there. It's a lot easier when you are following a template. For someone like me that is building from scratch and really has no idea what I'm building till its finished, things can get expensive real quick. I'm constantly buying parts and then deciding later that I like something else better. i'm new to this RU-vid thing so maybe when I figure out how to use this better I'll do a full start-from-scratch video.
@@LastMumzy thank you for your response. I stayed up for hours trying to muster things together in what you had going on. But yeah i still dont understand where you buy the parts so to say. I know its the same guy you buy ships from . Guess my game only lets me buy ships. And once ive bought a ship. Its components become available for ship building. Plus what i have gained from ship building skill.
Weight. When building this compact every ton of mass matters and class-b grav drives are a lot lighter than the class-c ones. I needed something that could get me over 28 light year range (the max distance required in the game) and since the ship is relatively small I was able to use this class b drive to keep my weight under-budget and my mobility at 100.
Im lvl 100 i have all the skills and still i dont have all the components at my base? Where did you build this ? How to get all the parts at the ship builder
Outposts give you access to a lot of the parts but not everything. I got the gears, cockpit, and front braking thrusters from New Homestead, the landing bay from Hopetown (the lady inside not the ship technician), the habs and most of the trim pieces from Deimos. Most of the other parts are generic that can be bought anywhere. Which parts are you having trouble locating?
@@LastMumzy i just started building ships and want to use this video as first time build to learn it. so you can buy ships parts and take them with you?
I explain this at 07:05. When in the ship builder the characters Payload skills are not applied. Rank 4 Payload skills increase base cargo by 50%. Having Sam Coe as a crewmember increases payload by another 10%. This is why the ship has a10,395 ton cargo capacity.
I'm working on a class b variant of this ship that features space for six 1x2 habs (this one only has three) and still hold somewhere between 7,000 and 8,000 tons...with skill bonus of course ;-)
I'm right at 900 hours in-game time at level 164. Making money at this point is trivial. Playing about 6 hours every day I am averaging about 1 million per day if I keep up with my mission boards, outposts, etc. I'm down to about 3.7 million right now so back to the grind it is...sigh...
That's alot of hours man, I find starship building a very nice feature but extremely time consuming and I find it lacks a "save your design feature" which would help alot. I don't know how many designs I f..ed up because I substituted the wrong parts, forgot what they were and had to start all over again after 30, 40 minutes playing with modules and getting the perfectly desired weapon-shileds- reactor parts. By the way, that bridge design is my second most loved. First would be its cousin with windows all around, only found at Deimos Staryards
If there was one thing I could add to the game today it would a be save ship design feature. I once spent about two hours in the ship builder, clicked a part to delete it, and accidentally deleted the entire ship. Nearly threw my computer out the window. Now when I delete parts I always pull them off the ship first 😞
6000 is base-level cargo with no skill or buffs applied. If you watch the video after takeoff at 07:06 you'll see the cargo is listed at 10,395. That is with my 4 skills points in Payload that increases cargo capacity by 50% and the 10% buff that Sam Coe gives to cargo capacity. Hence, over 10,000...
I have four points in the 'Payloads' skill which increases my cargo capacity by 50%. The shipbuilder doesn't factor in this skill and only shows the base cargo capacity. I talk about it at 07:06
