I could see the price making more sense if they included additional habs, that way you could have 1x1s, 2,x1s, and so on that could match the new style. But only providing a 2x2 hab feels like an odd decision.
Not even that, a full ship aesthetic package. Like having an out of place hab seems silly without a full matching set of things like landing gear, engines, cockpits. Etc
Ikr?! I posted on the sub hoping someone could recognise what tunes it is and so far I've had no luck. Rly want to know if they're sea shanties given the "Mariner" theme 😊
If price is the issue. What would be a good price on this? $4.99 feels more appropriate. An entire system of habs themed in pirate may warrant $10? I bet they are testing the market right now with this.^^
I think $2.99-$4.99 is good IF it was also an entire package, so one of each size + Cockpit and the 22 Decorations. Then, like you say, they could come out with other themed Ships.
I mean, someone will make one for free lol. Whoever at Bethesda said yep this is worth 10$ is crazy. There’s a mod that 7$ and that gives about 60 new items to outpost! Either way I think the hab looks good, but someone will make something similar for free thanks to the kit.
They stole Captain Jack Sparrow's cabin and want to charge us $10 for it. Gaming in 2024 is indeed glorious! Thanks for covering it so I know not to waste my money.
The part I dont understand is the scale of economoics of microtransactions. Selling 1 person an overpriced $10 item... or is it better to drop the price to 50 cents, and sell it to more than 20 people. Discount stores make more revenue than premium brands cause they have more customers
I'm 100% with you on that as I've run Companies most of my life and ALWAYS prefer a fair price for a reasonable product. Customers tend to be happier and the volume of product sales is higher thus less spoilage/waste (if you're in an Industry that has food for example).
@delindsay what's to his point even more, this is a digital item. It costs NO money to scale and replicate. Drop it by 5 dollars and sell it to thousands. I think this should be like 99cents per imo. 10 bucks should buy you a big pack of Habs
I bet a fair number of people will buy this simply because they couldn't have any mods before. Got to hand it to Bethesda for making mods easy to install and use but at the end of the day the market will decide if the price point is sustainable. For me If this mod encompassed the entire range of habs including workshops, etc. I would probably consider it but it's pretty jarring when you walk out of that into a completely different aesthetic.
@@delindsay The quest is also overpriced. Like, I finished the whole quest (only one) like in fifteen minute. The weapon is cool and outfit is fine, but that's it. Short quest, not worth $7 imo. For $3, would be ok. Quest is shorter than the free one with less narrative element...
@@delindsay I would say on the short side, but memorable. The quest takes place in a few locations and the ending made my heart race for a few seconds because I have the difficulty cranked way up.
I bought the top package prior to release, so even though I don't have to pay, this is BS. What disappointed me most about Starfield was how lame the building turned out to be. This hab is what I envisioned us being able to do, not only in our ships, but in our bases. Instead we got army tents and quonset boxes. : / The only good news here is the release of creation club. Hopefully modders will now do what Starfield left out.
@@ryanremias My first response on reading your reply is to suggest you get outside and get some fresh air. A walk in nature can do wonders! To the first part of your reply, you are welcome you compare Starfield to other games, but I am not bound by that and chose not to. My focus was on Starfield, like it or not. To the second part of your reply, I will quote my post and wonder if you even read it, "The only good news here is the release of creation club. Hopefully modders will now do what Starfield left out." Sheesh!
Even worse in the UK where they basically just switched $ to £. So getting on for $13 (although I guess less if you buy credits in bulk). Like my hand is moving so quickly towards my wallet right now. Any time... Any time now...
I spent $30, something on starfield thanks to gamepass. Just paid for the premium upgrade so i could play early. I still got the creation credits. Just a side note.
@@delindsay The only way I see myself getting this is for the new outpost/ship decorations, since all of the new furnishings would go great with the TGS Luxury Homes outpost module creation (which I do have & plan on activating once I get all the achievements I actually care about).
@@Paydirt90847 I hear ya, and yeah, as long as there are "whales" out there willing to buy every microtransaction from Studios, they'll continue to exist and get more ludicrous in price.
Very nice, but what happens if you move the hab or even remove it, do the contents of the chest gets properly moved to regular ship inventory? And i wonder if you can build the chest even if you don't use the hab for the current ship.
@@rolandsprenger9249 You're welcome and there will be more to come as Mods start trickling in to the official Creation Club. I'm going to hold off on doing videos about Mods not officially supported by Bethesda, at least for now.
I think its kind of cool, but not $10 cool. People really need to not buy things like this, train corporations to not over price things to catch some whales. But as long as people buy things like this in enough numbers they will keep doing it.
@@GameBoyDame Indeed. Look, I enjoy Starfield and have like ~330 hours into it. I've made ~80 videos on it. But I also have a brain in my head and can realize that BGS no longer cares about actually finishing their games properly because they know Modders will do it for free. As example, Photo Mode inside Habs and general Hab lighting IS STILL BROKEN 9 months after launch.
@delindsay Don't forget the ECS constant location is still bugged for many players. Shattered space isn't even out yet, and they have the nerve to charge for $70 of "creations." This is what these shills defend. I'll sleep just fine at night, pirating these. Screw Bethesda and anyone who defends this trash.
This is why I bought it, to showcase it to everyone so you all could make an informed decision whether to purchase or not. As I said, if it wasn't for making an informative video out of it, I doubt I would've paid $10 for a Hab and some decorations.
Modders go to Bethesda asking to work with them, not the other way around. Lol They don’t recruit individual modders. They also make their own mods and have modders on staff. There were a few that didn’t qualify because in the past they profited from mods when Bethesda was asking them not to do so. One mod team even had their mods locked behind a paywall. Right now I’m enjoying the free mods. I may buy the town builder later. If I was a modder and I wanted to stop working for a company, then I would just stop. I wouldn’t announce it to anyone.
@delindsay this shit always pisses me off and then it amounts to nothing because community modders always do more and better but bethesda keeps trying to figure out how to profit off them and still get the benefits that Skyrim saw with modding.
@@wolfhors3_660 Tin foil hat time... I think secretly Bethesda enjoyed the bonus Revenue when Zenimax owned them and pushed them hard to monetize as much as possible to make the sale to Microsoft look better on paper. Once they got that cash bug, internal conversations were probably held to determine how to keep that rolling as much as what they could without the Players completely revolting (par for course with nearly all "AAA" Studios the past handful of years). And as you can see, not enough people pushed back against the monetization of Fallout76, Fallout Vaults or w/e it's called, and now Starfield. They TRIED with Fallout 4 and too many pushed back so they withdrew, but just bid their time.
$10 would be an appropriate price for an extensive DLC that actually adds some decent content and functionality to the game. Like a functional expansion of the ship builder with many new parts and building options. But this? Maybe for people who have too much money and too low standards.
I mean... $10 bucks might also get you a weapon skin in another game. It's all too expensive, but it's not out of line from what other games are already charging.
@@wdavid4 Never forget that Bethesda pretty much started this abysmal trend in gaming with their horse armors! And for that alone, i'll NEVER give them my money anymore!
I would want at least a ship with all unique new parts for $10, including new cockpit, weapons, docker, engine, landing bay, cargos, and shields. A hab only is waaaaaaay below passing grade for a paid mod.
My hope, stick with me here, is that for the $10 we get the 2x2 and 22 decorations now, then later on we get additional Habs/Cockpit and other pcs themed the same for free (as part of the initial $10 price). I know, it's a stretch considering BGS hasn't bothered to fix problems with Starfield that have existed for 9 months but hey, I guy can dream amiright.
@@delindsay I commented it elsewhere as well, but the shared interiors of the habs just feels like a smack to the face when they sell habs at such prices, Taiyo needs a new interior with Japanese Technozen style and Stroud the classic nordic style with wood, as it is having 4 of 5 manufacturers share a style with just a color swap is unacceptable.
@@mightywoll3 You're not wrong and I've had this conversation with others before. I feel like BGS started with Nova (as detailed as it is) then the suits realized how long and expensive it was going to be to create 4 more Staryards totally unique and to save costs they had them mirror sets.
Well I shouldn't say the only "good" thing. The lighting options were desperately needed imo. Take your video for example....why should anyone need a flashlight to see things in a hab?
@@Buzz_329 The irony of that is Bethesda KNOWS about the lighting issues inside Habs, have TRIED to fix it and as you can see, I STILL have to use a flashlight to showcase Habs.
I don't mind giving Modders "Tips" when I use great Mods they've created because all that money goes to them. When BGS does crap like this, I guarantee they're taking a cut of the Mod cost from the Modder (This Mod was created BY Bethesda so doesn't exactly fall under that category).
The silliest part for me is they had all thos creators in the video talking big ideas (Dude wants to build a Dyson Sphere)... actuality, one overpriced undecooked 2x2 hab.
@@charlescoryell4239 they were able to work with the ck for months. It was intentionally hold back to let them work on stuff, so they can sell something on release now.
@@charlescoryell4239the main curated gang of paid mods had access to the kit for a while longer Since they were working together directly with Bethesda.
My problem with Creations is that there is no way to know if you are actually getting quality for the price. I would never pay $10 for something like this.
It seems so out of place as a hab on the ship but the furniture is at least usuable at an outpost. Unless you use mutiple empty mariner habs and design them your way i'd say give it a try i guess
Yeah, apart from the unlimited storage chest, not worth $10. And besides, so different from any other habs available in the game and don't match the space theme. Pass. I'll wait for an unlimited storage chest available separately.

I'm sure it's only a matter of time before a proper "Place Doors/Ladders" Mod is out officially. There's already been an unofficial version that had some issues now and again.
I crashed my Xbox about 10 times in one evening trying to do that. But hawt dayyyum the Villas look sweet AF. It's such a cool mod imo 🥰 half the builds are VERY skyrim vibes. You could basically build your own Whiterun on any planet you want. Plus Tank Girl put in some outdoor "street lamps" which are big epic looking wooden post things.
@arnograbner4741 Really? No. And I won't but they are taking advantage of console owners and mo one told me this was gonna be part of a finished game when I paid for it. It's just bad, greedy behavior. If gamers don't call this kind of BS out, it'll just get worse. The fact gamers have been pre-ordering stuff that's crap or broke on release for years is why this greedy behavior continues and why they get away from it. But those gamers are growing up and maybe things will change. We, as gamers, created this mess. Now we have to get a clue and stand up against greedy bad behavior. Considering the decision they're selling are in the game already. They're just letting us use them now. They're not new creations.
whats hilarious is there, is a mod in the store for 5$'s that while isn't new models and such like this seems to be, it gives you multiple new parts with a crimson fleet theme.
FO4 DLC (not even mods!) where half that for entire thematic collections! Far Harbour was only $20 and that was MASSIVE. This is such a scam... Do we know what percentage the mod authors are getting?
I remember FO4, I think I bought all the DLC and yes, I felt like I got what I paid for. I don't know the % split but am considering getting into modding, it's just such a steep learning curve.
@@delindsay If they'd also given us a 2x1 version, I would have had no qualms. As it is, t haven't spent any of my "free" credits yet. Nothing was compelling enough that I was ready to.
Back about Oct-Nov iirc, the Modding community was tired of waiting for the Creation Club and BGS kept stringing them along. I didn't hear much after that and now that it's finally out we'll get to see if it explodes with good Mods or kind of waffles.
100% no way Todd or anyone of the Suits at Bethesda care that "Modders are out doing them for free". It's more like "Hell yeah, they'll finish and fix our game with ZERO COST to us! Winning."
So the chest has unlimited space ? I can store all my resources/guns/clothes/food etc without having to go to the lodge every time to craft or upgrade something? I bought the CE so i have the 1000 points i just dont know what to use them on.
Actually, he had the furniture in another space, so it seems like you do get the furniture pieces. Still not worth the money for me. This is not what I would put in a spaceship.
You have several locations that wouldn't do anything to the interior, but, I also wonder if the Devs went as far in detail to change how the wood work works with a Window cavity? Thanks for the suggestion, I'll test it out when I get time!
@@delindsay To be fair Bethesda has stepped up their game since being bought. I see them fixing this one themselves, at least more than they have in the past anyway.
Kinda disappointed. If they did a whole series of these, with more hab variants and maybe even some structures, it would be worth it for ship building. But one hab that is off theme with the rest of the ship... I'll pass.
As in you bought the Ancient Mariner, enabled it and went into the game and it's not in the HAB section (should be near the top)? Also, do you have other HAB type Mods enabled as well, if so try moving the Ancient Mariner to the bottom of the load order (last thing to load) and see if that fixes it.

I think I've seen one of the rugs before, and maaaaybe one of the wooden end tables? But the other 20 decoration items are most definitely new. And that "treasure chest" being unlimited storage is DEFINITELY a new thing, even if it doesn't play nice with crafting benches/research tables. Neither does the safe in the Lodge, but lots of people use that.
The price does seem kinda high but I mean it’s all optional content, people could charge whatever they want for it. Would’ve been nice to get some more habs or ship parts with it tho. All in all I’m happy mod authors will be getting more money, and if Bethesda benefits enough it could serve as a market sample for other developers allowing this kind of extensive mod support in their games.
@delindsay I love the idea of small-time modders making small companies and making a profit instead of asking for donations. People complain about microtransactions, but I see a lot of RU-vid or Podcaster that complain about this crap switch to pay subscription based models to make a profit. I rather spend 10 dollars of my paycheck for someone doing hard work and creating a community than listening to someone tear community's down for likes and shares.
@@Digdoug82 As I stated in the video, this Hab was created by Bethesda not the Modding community. I agree with you that giving money to hard working Modders for great Mods is a good way to keep the community making great things.
