The same fast travel trick works for smuggling... On Akila, I have an outpost and if I have contraband but no shielding, immediately upon entering the system I just bring up the planetary map and fast travel/land before they scan me. Han Solo style workaround..
Nice video as always Turtle. I’ve already been doing this but nowhere near to this insane degree. I have 3 main ships that have different roles, which just makes sense to me as I’m retired from the US Air Force. I have my fighter built for speed, maneuverability, and weapons for ship combat. I customized the Razorleaf for this. I have a more all-purpose ship that is good for most anything but has suppressors for capturing ships and for boarding them for hostage rescue. I customized the Star Eagle for this. And my 3rd ship is for long range exploration and outpost building, it has the most cargo capacity and the best grav drive but it’s not quite as nimble as the others so it’s got a tanky shield and particle beam auto-turrets. All 3 are built to hold their own in ship combat because I prefer not to abuse fast travel to get around possible enemy encounters, to me those are an important part of the game and I’m too big on roleplaying to teleport for convenience.
Great vids as usual From my experience the taiyo cargo with 1200 is a little bit better( in some situations) since it will give more cargo capacity per mass. Not having all the attachment points is a bit annoying so i just mix em woth the galleon 1400 cargo one.
Question on switching ships and cargo. If I have the cargo ship and switch to the fighter my fighter is overfull, but no penalties except I cant add to storage. What about the captains locker, or any storage chests on the fighter.. can they be added to? Because then when you switch to the freighter they will all go back to general cargo...ish?
Ooh, I need to create and load up a hauler ship with all the things to make outposts so I can just port that around when building outposts. Love this strategy! Thanks!
I'll be completely off topic but I'm trowing this question anyways: Is there a way to remove a door on an airlock on console? Or to have access to a building without an airlock? I know on pc you can use commands but its not an option on xbox...
Dont forget you can still store stuff on your nimble combat ship, either in the intended locations (captains locker, various containers, armory etc) or by throwing it in a pile somewhere. Be absolutely sure to collect everything before modifying the ship though, as some bugs will delete all 'loose' items rather than moving to cargo as its supposed to do.
Top Speed is much more important than mobility. So my cargo ship has 150k cargo capacity, 269 top speed. You sacrifice a lot of speed and cargo capacity just to get that mobility which ONLY affects accelerations. Instead put a single 3015 class A engine on, and you get a top speed of 150, or with skills and crew mine is up to about 269, so even if I jump in to pirate camp I just hit the booster once and I'm speeding away from them at over 100 + their top speed, it doesn't take long to get out of their weapon range at that difference in speed.
If you want to do combat at all, mobility is somewhat important. I compromised at 30k cargo and 60 mobility so i can still fight without needing to swap ships all the time.
@@asmosisyup2557 It's really not. I mean, obviously its nice to have, but if I can trade out an extra 20 top speed which is multiplied to 50 with skill and crew bonuses, but have to have zero mobility for the trade off I'd take it every time. In practice however what usually happens is you get your top speed but only have 50 mobility, or even 30 on a class C. This has no significant impact on combat as you can still reach top speed in a second or two at most by pulsing your booster, then his your alt thruster key to disable and save the rest of the boost.
I would prefer separate cargo for each ship. its ridiculous that you can have overloaded cargo. and its annoying when i get in my smaller ships and cant put anything in them. does anyone know if any of the loot boxes in a ship persist or do they delete. Like i know on some modules they have med box or weapon box etc is it safe to use them. that cargo ship is so ridiculous. Great tip about landing anywhere though..also seems ridiculous and makes the top grav drives a bit useless.
I just add everything to the weapon racks and large chest in the deimos armory then I’ll go edit my ship so it adds everything to the ship inventory regardless of overall weight.
Most of the time it's because you are hauling a ton of junk, as with unique weapons you wanna keep around, you store them in properties or at the lodge where there are containers with infinite mass. I'd recommend at least 1600 base capacity so you max out Payload and use crew members with payload like Sam Coe, for a 70% increase to 2720. This is sufficient so long as you aren't doing outpost stuff or hauling a ton of 'resource' items. The initial cargo of 210 capacity / 44 mass is the cheapest you can get, Bethesda clearly isn't letting players have access to 'magical' cargo modules that can store more than it should fit, as the capacity to mass ratio is basically 3+ cargo per mass on average and tends to get worse at higher grade modules, you end up paying for more mass per cargo space which really brings down engine performance and forces you to use more landing gears a ton.
naughty but handy tip, thanks. ;) Normally I would not use such techniques but to be honest, this game has no realistic settings for mass, weight, time or money.
Bro, i just came across your vid, ive got the same perspective, working on getting more creds for the home ship. Havent invested in any skills for increasing storage. So convenient having a cargo and battle ship.
You can take it a bit higher. Payloads skill gives max 50% more cargo; so, if you are able to get a 134k base capacity, then your boosted capacity should actually be 201k. My cargo ship has the best shield 1600 one, 2 engines (1 more than the minimum), several more habs than I need for 6 crew (I wanted 10+ passenger capacity), 4 weapons (2 each of the top 2 auto proton turrets so it is still quite strong in ship combat), 2 50% scan jammers, a shielded cargo container, 40 power reactor, best grav drive putting my ship at 19 jump range, and I am still able to fit in enough cargo containers for 160,890 (320 shielded) cargo capacity thanks to max Payloads skill. It is currently at module limit but doesn’t necessarily need the mass from 40 energy reactor (only 36 equip power lol), more grav thrust then for 15 jump range, 210 fuel, a shield at all, several habs if not concerned with passenger capacity, good but heavy weapons, etc… and I could see pushing upwards of 170k or so maximum cargo capacity if one is not concerned at all with ever using it outside of swap & dump strategy when at ship technicians/one’s outposts (which is what I do anyway so I might as well maximize the cargo capacity instead of actually concerning myself with making it a still mostly usable ship). My ships at this moment (including proof of specs of the aforementioned ship): imgur.com/gallery/nGcTdNT
This is so freaking dumb, how they make the fast travel possible. Most of their systems are rendered useless. Food: useless. Ailments: useless. Ships for anything other than combat: useless. Cargo links: useless. It's about story, shooting, and carrying as much crap as possible. Everything else is just flavour.
venus or bessel III , find a trader there by landing over and over until you find a 5k vendor i found one with a stool right in front of the counter , just sit in the stool selling and reset venus has a 100 to 1 hour difference so refreshing the 5k takes seconds I emptied out my entire inventory of guns , armor and packs within minutes WAY easier than any other vendor method i've tried I used run akila , neon , etc but still have to sit down in a chair and wait 48 hours Venus takes seconds for vendor refresh and you can just stay seated in the chair and sell everything
I built a base right behind the lodge , easy 60 second travel from lodge door to base across lake behind lodge you can put a large landing pad right in the lake behind the lodge about 270 m behind lodge if you leave the lodge door take a right and go straight you can build a base right there , then use the infinite storage box by the research station at the lodge basement for mass resource storage
This seems like way too much of a hassle. I'd rather a ship with 10 to 15k cargo and have everything else I need so I don't have to load even more than I already have to just to have a ton of cargo there's no way I'll actually use.
I just built a base right behind the lodge in new Atlantis , you can use the lodges infinite storage crate for resources , you can put a large landing pad right inside the lake right behind the lodge , takes a mere 60 seconds to get from the lodge to this landing pad Then just build any ship you want with a basic 3k storage
Are you at least level 24? That's when it becomes purchasable. Also, it's not available at every ship vendor, so if you're not seeing it then try somewhere else.
This isn’t Fallout 76, so its perfectly fine to cheat. I use console commands and lots of mods, which saves this game and makes it tolerable. With a console command you can turn that 250 cargo ship into a 10 million cargo ship, all without adding a single container. I built a massive juggernaut battleship today with class M mods, and its so big I actually can’t find my way to the cockpit from the loading bay because the AI made it the interior a rat maze of doors and ladders. 😂 Also my game crashed twice during the build, and because it doesn’t let you save until everything is finished and all errors in the build are fixed, I had to start over from scratch twice. I almost quit the game when that happened. lol
yeah i wish they had separate cargo for each ship so if you get in your fighter it has no cargo so if you loot you can put it in storage to sell. its stupid getting in ship with 200 inventory and its 10 times full.
It's getting the best out of both combat and cargo limits, if you don't care about having as much cargo or a as maneuverable combat ship then just make one ship that can do both.
@higgitydiggity317 do you really need that much cargo? You can easily build a ship with 10 to 15k cargo which should be plenty. With the skill that increases cargo maxed out, that's 15 to 22.5k cargo. You shouldn't need more than that. Plus you can have a ship that's great in combat and maneuvers good on top of all that cargo. This is just more hassle than it's worth. The only thing this would be good for is if you're xp and credit farming to make it your home ship at your outpost so you can bring a ton of crap to sell.
obviously not from grind, my main character is lvl 109 on this one I replicate ships for video and test stuff, you can give yourself anything with console commands
