I just wanted to thank you for this build tutorial. I absolutely love this ship! I defeated two Va'runn ships like they were nothing, and I love the layout. I used a Claymore II for the build because I've never seen a III. I was able to do a few higher upgrades though, because I am a higher level than you were in the video, and changed one of the habs to another that I liked better. I also had to to refer to a few other videos though because this was my first build, and I didn't now how to flip parts, assign weapons, paint and re-name. Thanks again, your video gave me the courage to do finally do a custom build!
No problem! Happy to help! You can find a Claymore 3 in Celebrai jumping in a circle from moon to planet. Claymore is my absolute favorite ship you can steal in the game! Especially after make it flow better with the trying to remove as many ladders as possible haha.
I had already made some serious changes to my Claymore III before this video; made similar improvements to a mk 1 that I had prior to getting the III. However, I had never bothered with moving the loading bay to the front until seeing your video. So, thanks for the push. 😊 I tried eliminating the 1x1's in a similar fashion, but it ended up being a confusing mess, though that is probably because of the modifications I had already made to it. For now, I'm going to settle for having the loading bay in front. I might play around with eliminating the 1x's later. Thanks to the five SAL-6830s I have on the back of mine I have a perfect 100 mobility, even with the 650 fuel tank, two extra 2x1 habs and a couple more of those Galleon S204 cargo modules. (I took out those two piddly little ones.)
Yeah man! Moving the Loading bay to the front makes the ship so much more accessible when trying to take off quickly. Eliminating those 1x1s adds so much more useable space. Ill have to check out those engines. That was the only thing with my build is I was trying to get 80+ mobility with the increased cargo however 74 isnt that bad.
@@circuitscore it works if the engines are placed in a U pattern The SAL-6830 is only available if you ended the mission on Neon, "All that Money Can Buy," in a civil manner, since Nicholas Slayton's company makes the SAL-6830 engines.
Totally revamped mine. Basically rebuilt it from scratch while keeping the original look with some extension. Only Habs I kept were the cockpit & brig.
@@circuitscoreyou can also use portholes on the top side of the bottom habs to block ladder generation, but you have to use a glitch to make the upper hab work. However, when inside the upper hab the floor is no longer flat. You can actually look through them from the lower hab.
Great explanation help me out with building all you really need is a claymore 1 since your change n out some parts I got 1 and 3 have a strip down version of the claymore get the most mobility. Your ship looks AWESOME GREAT JOB!!! Helpful video recently started playing 1st time. Even though a few things annoy me about the game still love playing it . The sell ships without registering still works watched your vid on that thanks for that really awesome but can’t switch ships without having to go back to a ship tech if I try in space game crashes also trying to sell guardians 6 ship able to sell after tech credits go below value but as soon as I leave the sell menu game crashes every time have to quit game and start it over again. Any ideas on how I can sell the guardian and steal ships and switch back without game crashes. Any ideas would appreciate it thanks again for helpful vids Maybe the may 15th update put a stop to it
Thanks! Glad I could help. Also glad the selling unregistered ships still works. I have not yet tried to sell the Guardian. Ill try and do some testing to see if I can get it to work!
I shrunk mine, downgraded jump drive, upgraded reactor and engines, decreased cargo, relocated loading bay to front, changed docking port, removed brig and added extra habs. Yours isn't far off what I did.
@@circuitscoreI probably will swap all the parts back to nova galactic though, the captains quarters looks a whole lot more comfortable and luxurious, not to mention the others do look good too
Do you have a place I can send you a build of my Ecliptic Claymore that has 12.5 k cargo 81 mobility and no ladder from front to back. Also has every hab needed.
I get the feeling everyone eventually goes to the Claymore. The bridge is clearly the best. I've seen the list for best ship and they have the Claymore about the 20th best ship. BS.
Claymore is my number 1 ship for sure. Only ship I know of with stairs in it. Too bad there arnt more bridge modules with stairs. The ladders in this game are so bad and slow.
This is my favorite ship. Mine is maxed out. Best engines, best reactor, 700 or so in missiles, to lazers, two automatic particle turrets. In a way its boring because almost all ships get blown up by the automatic turrets before i can even lock on for missiles. And it can carry a lot of cargo.
I think the default layout (for the most part) makes perfect sense; With the default layout, from a lore perspective, the only way out of the brig is through the bridge, which is, in reality, always going to have crew posted. If that brig has the rear hatch, if either of your prisoners breaks free, they've got a clear path to the Landing Bay. I was able to knock it down to 1 ladder, really, at that junction at the front of the mezzanine level of the ship by replacing the Nova Bracer and Nova Companionway with a Nova Armory 2x1. So, you go directly from the Landing bay to the aft companionway, to the forward companionway up one ladder, and you're in the companionway of the main access corridor of the ship, with the Armory and docking collar to the aft and the control station and bridge in the forward section.
I'm sure that is what the game designers were going for. Personally I love having the war room instead of the Brig and keeping ladders to a minimum but to each their own! Sounds like you got a pretty solid build as well though!
Someone else made the comment below, but the "wings" you add to make the ship more "aerodynamic" actually covered over the braking engines - the structural pieces in front of the main engines. A braking engine fires forward to slow the ship down as it lands and to give more maneuverability. I'm surprised the ship builder didn't give you an error for that. What does it look like when you land on a planet? Are there flames coming out of the gap or did the structural wings completely block them?
From the underbelly when I land Im seeing flames coming out of the rear near the engines but not next to the wings. Ill have to look into this. Functionally the ship still seem to perform as it should. No issues with braking.
The Stormrider is a solid ship. If you dont want to buy it you can go to Serpentis and steal a Revalation from the VaRunn. Its the same ship as the Stormrider. I have not tried to modify it yet but its on the list of things to do.
You don't have to pull out the old habs and replace them with different ones,...then the colors don't match. Just leave the old ones there as long as they are the right dimensions, and if you need more of the same dimensions just duplicate them and then change the type. You just select them and change their type to Workshop, Infirmary, Battle Station, etc. You can completely change a ship and pay "0" for it by doing that. You only pay for the new parts that you add.
Was just going to say this. You have to select the Hab, move it slightly and then snap it back into it's original spot. Then you can change the variant to what you want.
@@robmaurer1618 Yea, but you don't even have to snap it, just select it. I'm on Xbox, just hover over it an hit A, then left or right D-pad. I use a PC laptop when away from home, but I plug an Xbox controller into it and play it just like the Xbox.
I had no idea you could just swap them out like that for future. Thanks for the tip. For this build I was trying to force some doorways to eliminate ladders hence why I was adding new habs with the "attach" function.
Check out Celebrai circling the system starting at the furthest north planet and all of its moons. Thats where I found my Claymore III. Also keep in mind in order to find a III I think you need to be a higher level otherwise only II will spawn.
No problem! I love the Claymore in this game. Best ship to modify hands down. Yeah I don't know what is up with Mercury but there are so many ships landing there. Its a great planet to get some free ships!
I really wish the brig was functional. Would be neat if there were “dead or alive” faction missions, where you could incapacitate an enemy with an EM rifle (maybe then I’ll actually use them) and place them into the brig.
Yeah this game is a bit too PG for a Bethesda game. Wish it was more edgy as well. At least the prison cell doors work in the brig however kinda useless if you cant take prisoners haha.
So on PC you can move your parts up and down using R key and F key. On controller its Up and Down on the dpad. Bethesda did a horrible job explaining this haha.
10:45 - You didn't need to move the Brig. You could've just switched it over to a different variant, since they're both 2x2. Also, the infirmary is redundant if you have a science lab.
That is good to know! Could have saved a bit of time. The other habs I did need to reattach in order to force some door placements. Thanks for the heads up on the science lab and infirmary. I guess I could add a Type A hab on that side.
In the video if you hover over the opening between habs and hit the "attach" button (G on PC) you can attempt to force door placement however it doesn't always work especially if there are multiple connecting habs as you could see during the tour of the bottom back part of the ship.
@@DreddPirateRoberts 100% agreed. There's apparently a mod on PC that allows for this but still don't understand why they didn't include this into their ship builder. Doorway and ladder placement can be so random.
Thank you for the tutorial! I hot-rodded my Claymore III by dropping a lot of cosmetic mass, stuck on three SAL-6830 engines, a 28T Defender Shield Generator, and a SF 40 Sheared Flow Reactor w/40 Power (the 104 DS Mag Inertial Reactor w/39 Power is also great.) For weapons, the four PBO-175 Auto Helion Beams really are the best you can get, but adding six more Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojectors makes for a ship-melting combination. For stealing ships, a single Nullifier 1750 Suppressor is all I really need, but if I'm not boarding, one or two PBO-300 Auto Alpha Turrets are indispensable for target acquisition, shooting at and identifying the closest enemy (the Obliterator 250MeV Alpha Turret fires too slow to make this effective). Also auto turrets will put enemy ships into defensive mode, firing their boosters to get away instead of attacking. The Disruptor 3320 Neutron Turrets work well too, if you don't want to use a Class C reactor. I love my Clankmore!
