The best bit is that the whole sketch is about how Richard Dean Anderson wasn't in episodes as much as he used to, however when they shot this, the only person available to wear the green morph suit for special effects was RDA himself :P
It seems that the only scene that they really needed him in the suit for was the coffee mug scene with Chris Judge. The rest they simply could have used voice overs. Even the Jaffa battle scene could be done with credible stunt men.
@@joelellis7035 IIRC they had him on set just for the "Something like this?!" scene, and then when they described the other scenes they had in mind he happily also did all of the body work for the other scenes, the example from the commentary being the mug in the hallway scene.
Only thing is the mention Hammond but Teal’c didn’t have hair until after Hammond left 😂 but the scene is hilarious with Teal’c and O’Neil in the corridor
@@cleavedgegaming3873 Russel did great portraying an O'Neil going through the trauma of losing his son, which could only really work within the confines of the movie, which took place over the course of days in-universe. Anderson was able to take that character and expand upon it by adding an additional "L".
CrimsonRam Buy them on Walmart.com there just under 10$ a season I just started getting back into it. Was a BIG fan of Stargate Sg1 and MacGyver when I was growing up and thought he was cute on MacGyver but on Stargate sg1 WOW some Age did him well lmao.. I only bought the 1st Season couldn't stand it and really didn't think I would finish it as fast as I did but love how close the actors and actresses Jack & Sam get and just can't get enough!!! Love the episode where Sam attack's Jack kissing him and then later Jack beats up Daniel!! So so funny and they try to fight it and hide it lmfao..
I have gotten all 3 seasons of them now for just under 30$ I haven't gotten the other 2 seasons yet,and it really makes you wonder if Anderson had some Strong feelings for Amanda or fell in love with her while working with her and she just either didn't feel the same or they just couldn't make it work because they posted online that Anderson has never been married and has only 1 child so doesn't sound like a man whore lmao...
"Teal'c: I assume I am staring at you stoically. O'Neill: Not buying it, eh? Teal'c: No. You are most transparent, O'Neill. O'Neill: Oh, I get it. Good one. Teal'c: I can see right through you. O'Neill: Don't push it." Haha
This is one of the best uses of invisibility in tv both in terms of comedy and action although the action is brief they do show off how useful it can be.
In a new Atlantis comic, O'niell makes a non appearance in a few panels thanks to a Furling device that has rendered him invisible util they figure out a way to save him.
Actually they wrote it this way because they THOUGHT they couldn't get RDA on set but they did and it's actually him in a green body suit holding the mug with Teal'c, no doubles or stand-ins. True fact.
I assume i am staring at you stoically :D Btw this is from 200 the gag episode, so are we suppossed to think this happened at some point, or were they just winding that guy up with tall stories???
BartJ583 my point is stop complaining and let other people enjoy it. We don't care about it being "disgusting", because it was funny. And actually fit Jack and Sam perfectly.
BartJ583 American demanding to be left alone in an echo chamber? THAT is the best you have? You echoed the exact same sentence to half a dozen different people, I think you're the one in an echo chamber my friend. Back on topic, I still love that scene though.
It's an on-the-nose reference to one of the biggest geek culture questions, "If you had any superpower, what would it be and why." The typical teenage boy's response is, "Invisibility, so I can sneak into the girls' locker room." What's Jack's character? Basically that of a teenage boy. He's already been given the superpower, and what does he do with it? Sneaks into the girls' locker room. We can find the behavior disturbing as much as when that question is asked and that answer is given. But the scene's still amusing because Carter, realizing the moment she's about to get out of the shower, and even waits for the confirming "Nope" because she knows he's there. It's Jack being Jack. It's less disturbing than the episode when Jack gets cloned, but his clone is physically a teenage boy. All the life experiences and memories of the real Jack O'Neill. Ends with the real Jack dropping off the young Jack at school and asking, "You sure you want to do this?" To which the young Jack looks over at a couple of young cheerleader types, and looks back at real Jack with a grin. "Ah, yes. Go forth, young man." Again, an on-the-nose reference to the thought of, if you could repeat your youth while knowing what you know now... but that moment came off as a little lecherous and hopping across the line of disturbing.
I have watched the whole SG 1 series and the ark of truth and have loved it... What I need to know is what to watch next? Is the Atlantis series worth it? Continuum? Any advice from stargate lovers? Thanks :)
Luckykay32 This. As for Stargate Continuum, it's awesome. They don't have to worry about wrapping up multiple plotlines, so the story is a lot more cohesive, without unnecessary sideplots like bringing back the Replicators for no good reason. Sure, it's kind of a retread of earlier time travel episodes (esp. Moebius), but it's a really well-done one. I'd definitely recommend it; it's by far the better of the two SG-1 finale movies.
does that mean oneill is naked the whole time hes invisible...? we can see the cup hes carrying when invisible so we should be able to see his clothes IF HE WAS WEARING ANY
Anything that was on Jack's body at the time he became invisible, such as clothes, would also have gone invisible. As for the can of coke, he would have picked that up AFTER he became invisible - which is why we can see that and not him.
only few episodes were like this one ... but the most of them were relistic as our knowledge of physics make possible ... not like the stih startrek .. startrek is unreal stih .. you know what i mean
I remember seeing a behind-the-scenes feature in this. Apparently, they weren’t sure if Richard Dean Anderson would be available for more than the voiceover. As it turned out, he was willing and able. In the scene with Teal’c and Jack, that is ACTUALLY RDA himself in greenscreen suit carrying the cup and playing his role.
when looking for lost girl a run a way that turn to porn dorce in to porn to make money or someone money force to go where that go to find said lost or taken amber kids esar oly wa sg1
I generally want my scifi to be serious, but episodes like this just make me break that rule wide open. I can't help but love these kinds of fun loving episodes, yeah LOL !
the actor they picked for that character in my opinion was the only person to play him well. perfect timing of comic relief while trying to get serious things done. he basically helped make jack o'neill more of a believable character, to the point you felt as though you could bump into him in the real world and he would just give a smartass witty comment about all the things he has done. in fact i couldnt imagine anyone else in any of those character roles, but without him the whole team just seemed to fall apart.
+wakcedout I keep seeing people say the show wasn't as good without him, and I don't get it! The addition of Mitchell kind of rejuvenated the team, and I noticed after Jack left that the comedy was more evenly spread throughout the team. Daniel in particular turned into a bit of a smartass in the later seasons, lol, like Jack's behaviour got to all of them.
Blue Sky yea but he just played that character soooo well and really made the whole thing more relatable. it went from this scifi space show to feeling like there really could be a stargate you could walk thru to another world. and when a character feels that believable it brings you into the show more. probably the writers realized they had to keep o'neils sense of humor in there to keep the audience.
Jero Briggs airmen walks by um mam ? I don't think who are you talking to ? Carter I'm talking to O'Neil . airmen ok I am gonna go talk to docter fraisher
Except that Carter and ONeil basically had an unofficial thing throughout the entire series. It is disturbing, unless you know the characters. Carter didn't even care that much, she even thought he might be doing it enough to ask, she was more annoyed than disgusted.
It was hillarious. Carter and jack by that time in the show had several romantic interactions that were implied to have become sexualy intimate. Its not like she hadnt also seen him by that point and honestly she was more annoyed than anything. And tbh: military life? You have zero privacy. Down range you will be taking a shit next to yer buddy talking about doing taxes while some guy walks behind you and swaps out the shitbucket. Zero privacy.
I love how this was set up as a clip show but it was all new material. I also appreciated that when O'Neill showed up in person, Vala said, "Nobody'll see _that_ coming." Mitchell responds, "Nope, there'll be spoilers," and Carter says, "Are you kidding? It'll be in the commercial," - which it _was._
Taylor Pennington Remember that this whole episode is merely the perception of the documentarian of events the team is conveying to him without O'Neil present. So of course they would potray themselves well and O'Neil poorly. I imagine that this is the result of Jackson saying something like, "Another time I was conducting a lecture on a series of decipherings on an ancient tablet that may have been the most important discovery to Earth at the time. But not to O'Neil, no this was the time he chose to walk in and making obnoxious snoring sounds. The nerve!" What we see is the documentarian's take on that. :3
Marty wasn't a documentarian. He was coming up with ideas for his TV-show movie adaptation. Jack knew him better than anyone in that room, and Marty is the only other recurring Jack-fanboy in the entire series (Skaara, but for much better reasons). Safe to say anything they say could do nothing to tarnish Jack's name in Marty's eyes, not that they would want to to begin with. I wouldn't say that it was his perspective, but rather just a funny way of telling a funny episode. The one time the writers can take a breath and not have to worry about 'continuity this' and 'causality that'. They could be outrageous and vague, and they did.
Well saving the Earth eight or nine times looks pretty damned good on the military record. But it *is* a good question how he ever made Colonel in the first place.
He's actually an excellent field officer, and when things are dangerous, he's extremely competent. Its stated by O'Neil that he's done a lot of black ops, for instance. He generally only jokes around when things aren't dangerous, likely just to get the others on his team to react. That, and the fact that part of him does like to mess with his teammates. Like one would do family members, really.
RMJ1984 being crucial to defeating both the Goa'uld that the Tok'ra could not defeat in centuries and the replicators that gave the Asgard and run for their money has to look awfully good on the good old resume.
Showing the progress of the Teal'c character as he was understanding human humor. It was evident in the later seasons, and I particularly noticed it in an episode called "Bad Guys" where Cameron Mitchell references John McClane, and Teal'C has to explain to Daniel Jackson that it's from Die Hard (actually it was a shameless plug for Live Free or Die Hard that was coming out that summer).
+BartJ583 i dont see why not, I mean they did have that kind of unofficial relationship through the show. I mean remember when him and Teal'c were stuck in that loop and at the end he handed in his resignation, grabbed Sam and pashed her?
+BartJ583 I was staying right with the topic as a matter of fact. If i had someone like Sam I'd consider like a sister and someone I'd no doubt connsider like a bro like O'Neil, and there was the same chemistry between the 2, I'd ask why the hell they havent done something yet. there is nothing actually wrong , th the scene as such, its just somthing that displayed that they knew each well enough that Sam could guess he might try it, and that O'Neill knew and respected her well enough to say something rather than be quiet and still try to look. and if you notice, she didnt exactly tell him to take a hike did she?
+BartJ583 as i described before mate, there's been a number of times such chemistry has openly been shown and more where its just underlying. regardless, what made the scene amusing to me was that they knew each other so well that Sam knew that he might try for a laugh and that O'Neill respected her well enough that he answered rather than stay silent.
O'Neill: "Not buying it, ehh?" Teal'c:"No, you're mostly transparent, O'Neill" O'Neill:"Ohh, I get it! Good one!" Teal'c:"I can see right through you." O'Neill:"Don't push it.."
I doubt he was even trying to peek at Sam in the shower… probably just knew she’d be a little paranoid about the possibility, and so decided to troll her 😂
Someone help me out here-- when Jack is snoring during Daniel's lecture about discovering 'the most important thing in the Universe', which is it; has Jack *really, literally* fallen asleep, due to Daniel being so dry and boring, or is Jack just making the snoring sounds to *poke fun at the fact that Daniel is being so dry and boring?* Given that its Colonel (at time of the clip, anyway) Jonathan J. "Jack" O'Neill that we're talking about...could well be either (and maybe we're supposed to think that).
This episode is hilarious! It really gets going with Teal’c and invisible O’Neill walking together and just snowballs from there… “You are so transparent…” LOL!
"Sir, are you there? .... - Nope." Can't say I'd have had the dignity to answer instead of just peeking on her. Seriously, though, I bet half the time he just ran around the base naked. I mean, who could tell?
BartJ583 If that scene bothered you, then SG1 ain't for you bud. They obviously had feelings they couldn't express due to being military. Remember the episode where Sam was about to get married, backed out, and went to Jack's house, goes on a bit, then says "..and if I don't tell you now, I might never..." at which point the woman who Jack is currently dating comes out of his house and interrupts. We all know what she was going to say, and the feelings between them have been obvious. Even in season 1 Jack was impressed with Sam's attitude.
(O'Neill, still invisible, and Teal'c walk down a corridor. The only thing that gives O'Neill's presence away is the coffee cup he holds) Teal’c: You cannot remain this way, O'Neill. O’Neill: Why not? It gives us an advantage over the Goa'uld. I can sneak around all I want, totally undetected. I give us the element of surprise. The bottom line is, I can do more for this planet invisible than I ever could as my own sweet salient self. (O'Neill stops and drinks from his coffee mug. Teal'c stops and turns to where he believes the invisible O'Neill stands. He stares towards O'Neill silently for a few moments.) Teal’c: (Deadpan) I assume I am staring at you stoically. O’Neill: (Gesturing with mug) Not buying it, eh? Teal’c No. You are most transparent, O'Neill. (Teal'c begins walking again, O'Neill following behind.) O’Neill: Oh. I get it. Good one. Teal’c: I can see right through you. O’Neill: Don't push it.
My favourite part about this bit, is if you watch the behind the scenes, they were doing this scene as a joke because RDA wasn't available to film at the time. Well, as it turns out, he happened to be on set the day they were filming, so the guy in the green-suit is actually RDA pretending to be RDA.
